Former Alabama guard Aaron Estrada agrees to deal with Detroit Pistons

The talented combo guard lands a deal in the NBA!

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball program did not have any former players selected in the 2024 NBA draft, but on the day following the conclusion of the draft it was reported that [autotag]Aaron Estrada[/autotag] had agreed to an Exhibit-10 deal with the Detroit Pistons.

Estrada played just one season in Tuscaloosa after spending the two previous seasons at Hofstra. The combo guard was a central piece of the Crimson Tide’s second Elite Eight appearance and the program’s first Final Four.

As a Woodbury, New Jersey native, Estrada ranked third in the SEC in assists per game. He posted the fourth triple-double in Alabama history on Feb. 28 at Ole Miss, recording 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the win over the Rebels.

Estrada started in all 37 games for the Crimson Tide this past season and averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the field.

John Chepkevich of Draft Express was the first to report the news of the deal between Estrada and the Pistons.

Former Alabama Basketball guard Aaron Estrada receives invite to G-League Elite Camp

Former Alabama basketball guard Aaron Estrada became the second member of the Crimson Tide to receive an invite to the G-League Elite Camp.

On Monday, former Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball guard Aaron Estrada received an invite to attend the G-League Elite Camp. He will be the second member of the Crimson Tide to attend the camp. The first player that was invited from the Crimson Tide was forward Jarin Stevenson.

Forty-four prospects for the 2024 NBA draft will participate in two scrimmages in Chicago. Oftentimes, if a prospect performs well enough, they will receive an invite to attend the NBA draft’s annual combine. Two players who have participated in the G-League Elite Camp and have gone on to have successful NBA careers are Jose Alvarado and Terrance Mann.

Estrada will be one of the prospects that will have an opportunity to showcase his skill set in the Windy City. Estrada spent one season at Alabama after making stops at Oregon, St. Peter’s, and Hofstra. During his one season in Tuscaloosa, Estrada made 37 starts. He averaged 13.4 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, and 4.6 assists per game.

Estrada will look to make a name for himself with hopes of receiving an invite to the NBA draft combine. Alabama guard Mark Sears will represent the Crimson Tide at the NBA draft combine.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama men’s basketball team.

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team will take on the top overall team in the Final Four of March Madness, the UConn Huskies, with a chance to play for a national championship on the line.

Nate Oats and his team, consisting of standout players like [autotag]Mark Sears[/autotag], [autotag]Grant Nelson[/autotag], [autotag]Nick Pringle[/autotag], [autotag]Jarin Stevenson[/autotag] and [autotag]Nick Pringle[/autotag], have been in Phoenix since Tuesday and are still preparing for what is going to be the most important game in Crimson Tide basketball history.

UConn ended up landing in Phoenix in the early hours of Thursday morning after a handful of logistics issues delayed the Huskies’ flight.

The two teams will meet on the court at State Farm Arena at 8:49 p.m. ET.

Alabama hoops eliminated from SEC Tournament by the Florida Gators

Florida eliminates Alabama hoops from the SEC Tournament

The end-of-the-season slide continues for the Alabama Crimson Tide as they got smoked by the Florida Gators in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament Friday evening. Things looked great for Alabama as they raced out to an eight-point lead in the first three minutes of the game and led 31-27 with 5:50 to go in the first half. Unfortunately, it was all Florida from there as they went on a massive 17-0 run and never looked back.

While the scoreboard shows Florida won 102-88, the game was never really that close. The Tide’s lack of intensity on the defensive side of the ball was once again the killer in the evening. [autotag]Mark Sears[/autotag] and [autotag]Aaron Estrada[/autotag] had decent nights, but outside of them, it was a rather poor showing all around. With Kentucky, Tennessee and South Carolina all losing today, the path to the SEC Championship was wide open and it feels like Alabama may have wasted a golden ticket.

Selection Sunday is less than 48 hours away so it will be exciting to see where the Tide end up, but it doesn’t feel like this is a year where they will be making a deep run. On the bright side, [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] agreed to a long-term extension today and he will be in Tuscaloosa for the foreseeable future.

PHOTOS: Relive the excitement from Alabama’s OT win over Florida

Check out the best images from the highlights of Alabama’s thrilling win over Florida in overtime.

Alabama men’s basketball is looking to finish the 2023-2024 regular season as strong as possible. A thrilling overtime win over No. 24 Florida was a big boost to the team’s resumé and confidence. The game ended with a score of 98-93, but it doesn’t tell the full story of the battle.

The game opened with over a dozen lead changes, as both teams kept it close in the physical contest that began rather low-scoring.

On the back of Grant Nelson’s team-leading 22 points, the Crimson Tide’s offense came to life in the second half, as a total of six players reached double digits in the points column.

The chippy win improves Alabama’s record to 19-7 overall, with an SEC record of 11-2. The Tide retains sole possession of first place in the conference, with Tennessee looming just behind them at 10-3 in conference play.

Next up for Nate Oats and his team is a trip to Kentucky to take on the No. 17 Wildcats in another big late-season test.

Alabama basketball beats Missouri 93-75 to start 4-0 in SEC play

Alabama smashes Missouri 93-75 to run out to 4-0 start in SEC play

There is no question that Alabama head coach [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] is one of the best basketball coaches in the country, but there were legitimate concerns surrounding this year’s squad. Not only did the Crimson Tide lose two players to the first round of the 2023 NBA draft, but they also lost a handful of players to the portal. Oh, and he also lost all three of his assistant coaches from a season ago to head coaching positions. Despite all of the changes, the Tide are cooking and back in the thick of March Madness discussions.

Oats has always prioritized playing the toughest out-of-conference schedule possible, so it was a bit bumpy out of the gates. However, the team is beginning to find their groove as they smoked the Missouri Tigers 93-75 in Coleman Coliseum. Recently hired head football coach Kalen DeBoer made a guest appearance as well that blew the roof off. The Tide’s win over the Tigers marked six straight wins including the past four all coming in conference play. [autotag]Aaron Estrada[/autotag] and [autotag]Rylan Griffen[/autotag] led the way with 21 points each and Grant Nelson poured in 13 as well.

The schedule gets even tougher as the Tide travel to Knoxville on Saturday to take on No. 6 Tennessee. Then four days later, Alabama will host Bruce Pearl and his Auburn Tigers.

Alabama basketball rolls Liberty 101-56 to finish out-of-conference schedule

Alabama basketball smokes Liberty 101-56

Since taking over as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Nate Oats has prioritized playing the most challenging out-of-conference schedule possible. In 2022, the Tide took on teams like Michigan State, UConn, North Carolina, Houston, Memphis and Gonzaga among others. The schedule has been just as difficult in 2023 having already played Ohio State, Oregon, Clemson, Purdue, Creighton and Arizona.

The Tide concluded out-of-conference play today against the 10-3 Liberty Flames in the C.M. Newton Classic in Tuscaloosa. Alabama was dominant all day long as they picked up their biggest resume boost of the season with an emphatic 101-56 victory. The Flames will be dancing in March, so not a bad day for Oats to pick up his 100th career win with the program.

Alabama is shooting lights out as they have hit 33 three-pointers over the last two games. Latrell Wrightsell was the man leading the charge today as he was 5/7 from beyond the arc. Coming off the bench, Wrightsell led all Alabama scorers with 19 points while Aaron Estrada exploded for 13 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
