Gators ‘at the top’ for rising sophomore QB target

You have to start early when it comes to recruiting quarterbacks at a high level, and Florida is staying ahead of the curve.

It’s a bit early to start thinking about Florida’s 2026 recruiting class. Still, quarterbacks are usually the first players evaluated and the Gators are eyeing one of the top young arms in the rising sophomore class, [autotag]Romin Seymour[/autotag].

Florida hosted Seymoure for a training camp over the summer and immediately presented the Manvel High (Texas) signal caller a scholarship offer, according to Gators Online. A 2026 All-American Bowl competitor, Seymour is getting a ton of attention early on.

Aside from UF, Florida State, Houston, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M have offered. LSU is getting interested but hasn’t officially joined the race yet. Right now, it’s the Gators that sit at the top of his list.

Spending time with offensive analyst Ryan O’Hara and head coach Billy Napier convinced him that the program was right for him, and the new facilities also left a strong impression on him. O’Hara spent time going over film with Seymour, strengthening his relationship with the staff.

Manvel High is the same high school the Kyle Trask went to before coming to Florida. Fans will make the natural comparison between the two, but the truth is that Seymour has only played one year at the high school level so far.

None of the four major recruiting services have a grade for him yet. That’s how young he is. Florida is going well early with a player it likes, but this is only the beginning of a search that will likely last over a year.

LSU makes top eight for elite 2026 quarterback

LSU made the cut for young quarterback phenom Julian Lewis.

Top 2026 quarterback [autotag]Julian Lewis[/autotag] trimmed his list to eight on Wednesday, and LSU made the cut.

LSU is joined by the usual suspects of Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State along with a few other blue-blood programs.

Lewis is from Georgia, and the Bulldogs have been red-hot recruiting QBs lately, so LSU could face an uphill battle here. But there’s a long, long way to go before Lewis signs in 2026.

Lewis isn’t just one of the top QBs in his class but is expected to be one of the top overall players when it all shakes out and the 2026 rankings begin to take shape.

This is the type of talent LSU needs to continually sign at QB if it wants to be at the sport’s top level every year. Brian Kelly’s recruited well thus far, but there’s still room for improvement at the top of the classes. Lewis can help solve that.

Elite rising sophomore DL planning return to Florida after picking up offer

Is it too soon to talk about the class of 2026? Florida is starting to make offers to rising sophomores, including Buford (Georgia) defensive lineman James Morrow.

The Florida Gators are beginning to seriously recruit the class of 2026, and one of the players that received an early offer from UF is Buford (Georgia) defensive lineman [autotag]James Morrow[/autotag].

Florida offered the 6-foot-4-inch, 230-pounder after seeing him in action at the June 23 Friday Night Lights camps. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State and Texas A&M are the other programs recruiting him early on.

The Gators have made a strong first impression on Morrow, according to On3’s Keith Niebuhr, but there’s still plenty of work to be done with more than two years left until he’s able to sign anywhere.

“I would say Florida’s definitely going to be there down the road,” Morrow said. “Just seeing how they treated me and how they treated my guest. Because, every recruiting lady isn’t going to come up to you. But at Florida, everybody just supported you with love. And they’re glad you’re here. And they’re excited about the future with you.”

Morrow plans on returning to Gainesville at the end of July for the team’s annual cookout. He’ll be one of the only 2026s there, but that just speaks to how advanced Morrow is compared to his peers.

It’s too early for any recruiting site to have submitted a grade on Morrow, but the offer list is that of a future four or five-star recruit. His size and age have many expecting big things, including the Gators.
