5 recruits Alabama would like to flip in the 2025 recruiting class

There is plenty of talent in the 2025 recruiting class. Here are five prospects Alabama should make a hard push for.

Alabama has recruited at an elite level year in and year out. With a new coaching staff, there lies some uncertainty on the recruiting trail.

Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer has worked effortlessly to assemble a coaching staff with prominent recruiters. There seems to be some promise with the new coaching staff.

The program’s general manager Courtney Morgan and multiple assistants have hit the ground running. In recent weeks, the coaching staff has visited multiple prospects and has gotten several of them to commit to unofficial visits.

Some of the prospects that will be visiting Tuscaloosa in recent weeks are committed elsewhere.

Roll Tide Wire takes a look at five recruits that Alabama would like to flip in the 2025 recruiting class.

Oklahoma top 10: Updated look at the top 15 in 2025 team recruiting rankings

A look at the top 15 teams in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports.

The Oklahoma Sooners are off to a blazing start in the 2025 recruiting class. Their 10 commitments put them way ahead of the pace from 2024 when they didn’t get their first commitment until late March before the signing class.

Headlined by a group of Oklahoma products, the Sooners currently rank inside the top 10. They should see significant movement if the current predictions for blue chip prospects Jonah Williams, Tory Blaylock, and Cobey Sellers come through with commitments.

The Sooners are also in great shape with a number of highly-regarded targets like offensive tackle Michael Fasusi and tight end Nate Roberts.

With more than nine months before the early signing period and Oklahoma about to transition into spring ball, recruiting is about to heat up. The Sooners are well situated to maintain their recruiting floor in the top eight but could push the 2023 recruiting class for the best of the Brent Venables era.

Here’s a look at the top 15 programs in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings, the number of blue-chip prospects for each school, and their highest-rated prospect.

Oklahoma Sooners earn commitment from 3-Star OT Ryan Fodje

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up their 10th commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle with a pledge from offensive tackle Ryan Fodje.

The Oklahoma Sooners hot start in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] continued Sunday morning with a commitment from offensive tackle [autotag]Ryan Fodje[/autotag].

Fodje is currently considered a three-star prospect according to 247Sports and On3 but has received a lot of buzz in recent months, picking up a number of high-profile offers.

In addition to the Sooners’ offer, Fodje holds offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, Nebraska, Missouri, Tennessee, and USC. He’s considered a top 30 offensive tackle prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle but could see his stock rise.

Last summer, Fodje spent time with the Sooners at Brent Venables Football Camp and earned an offer from Oklahoma in August. That August 26 offer from OU was his first, but over the last four months picked up 18 more offers. In the last couple of weeks, he received offers from Texas, Oklahoma State, and Oregon among others. He even spent time at Texas’ Junior Day on January 20.

The commitment marks the Sooners 10th in the [autotag]2025 recruiting cycle[/autotag] and second offensive line commitment, joining [autotag]Owen Hollenbeck[/autotag] from Melissa, Texas.

Fodje moves very well with his 6-foot-5, 275-pound frame. He has a nice first step in pass protection and uses his length well. As a run blocker, Fodje is a physical player. Once he engages his defender, he doesn’t disengage until the opponent is on the ground or the play is over. He does a great job driving his feet and blocking through the whistle. He’s a natural athlete who has all the tools to make a huge impact at the University of Oklahoma.

Sooners receive prediction for 2025 5-star defender Jonah Williams

Oklahoma Sooners received a prediction to land 2025 five-star defender Jonah Williams.

In each of the last two recruiting cycles, the Oklahoma Sooners have found a way to land a trio of five-star defenders in [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag], [autotag]Adepoju Adebawore[/autotag], and [autotag]David Stone[/autotag]. They might be heading to another recruiting cycle with a five-star defender in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag].

[autotag]Jonah Williams[/autotag], out of Galveston, Texas, was predicted to land with the Oklahoma Sooners by Texas recruiting insider for On3, Justin Wells.

Williams looks like a player who could play multiple positions with the Oklahoma Sooners. He’s got the athleticism and size to play either safety or cheetah for the Sooners. But if Brent Venables and his staff wanted to bulk him up, he could also be a factor at linebacker.

Regardless of where he ends up on the field, Williams will make an impact. Simply put, he’s a really good football player. He could probably start at wide receiver, running, back, cornerback, or safety for a large number of Power Four programs.

Williams holds offers from 27 programs across the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, and Big 12, including notable programs like Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Oregon, LSU, and Ohio State.

As a safety, Williams shows fantastic awareness in zone coverage and a natural ability to attack the ball in the air. He’s a wrap-up tackler, displaying good form when attacking ball carriers and wide receivers. And he attacks the line of scrimmage with aggressiveness and speed.

The Oklahoma Sooners have a long way to go in this recruitment, but this is a strong indication that Oklahoma is in a strong position to add one of the most talented defenders in the nation to their 2025 recruiting class.

Alabama named a finalist to land 2025 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham

One of the top prospects in the Magnolia state released his top schools list on Monday. 2025 five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham listed Alabama as one of 12 finalists to land his commitment.

Over the years, Alabama has done an exceptional job of recruiting the state of Mississippi. Now, with a new coaching staff being assembled, it will be important to hone in and prioritize the Magnolia state.

One of the reasons why is 2025 five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham. On Monday, Cunningham released his top schools list which included the Crimson Tide.

Cunningham plays for Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi. He is listed at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds.

Scouting analyst Gabe Brooks of 247Sports provided an evaluation for Cunningham several months ago.

“Unverified size and athleticism, but clearly possesses physical traits and excellent functional athleticism on tape. Know less about him than most other wideouts in the class, but definitely aware that he’s a dynamic basketball player with big production on the hardwood. Translates body control and bounce to ball-winning mismatch effectiveness at wideout. Unstoppable in red-zone situations. Strong-handed in traffic. Runs hard in run-after-catch situations and bowls his way through arm tackles. Long-striding gait that creates necessity for build-up speed. Natural route sense and spatial awareness. Question the top-end athlete from speed and lateral perspectives relative to others in the class, though athletic profile is admittedly excellent with the hoops context. Projects as a high-major impact player with a long-term ceiling that could lead to NFL Draft consideration.”

Alabama will certainly have their work cut out for them. Schools like Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Georgia have each hosted Cunningham for multiple unofficial visits. Needless to say, it will be intriguing to see which schools Cunningham decides to visit in the coming months.

Recruits react on Social Media to Junior Day weekend with Oklahoma Sooners

2025 prospects react on social media to their junior day weekend with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Sooners are off and running in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] with nine commitments as they turn the page on 2024.

Over the weekend, a number of Oklahoma’s 2025 targets made the trip to Norman for their annual junior day. It was an opportunity for the next class of prospects to meet with coaches, tour the facilities, and get a deeper look at Oklahoma football.

It has yielded positive reactions. The Sooners received a trio of Rivals Futurecasts for four-star running back Tory Blaylock and five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham included the Sooners in his top 12 after their visits.

But they weren’t the only ones who enjoyed their visits, here’s how other prospects reacted to their time with the Oklahoma Sooners over the weekend.

Alabama extends offer to 2025 4-star WR Kaliq Lockett

The Alabama coaching staff has been busy on the recruiting trail as of late. On Friday, the Crimson Tide extended an offer to 2025 four-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett.

The stars shine brighter in the Lonestar state and the newly assembled, Alabama coaching staff has taken notice. On Friday, 2025 four-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett received an offer from the Crimson Tide.

Lockett plays for Sachse High School in Sachse, Texas. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds. During his junior season, Lockett reeled in 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He is a two-sport athlete at his high school. While performing at a high level on the football field, he also competes on the school’s track and field team. His explosiveness and athleticism translate well for Lockett in both sports.

Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and general manager Courtney Morgan did a fantastic job of adding players at the skilled position during their time at Washington. The two will look to try and add a proven playmaker in Texas native Kaliq Lockett.

Oklahoma Sooners make top 8 for 2025 4-star defensive lineman

The Oklahoma Sooners are in the mix for an elite defensive line prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.

Fresh off a tremendous defensive line haul in the 2024 recruiting cycle, Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis are back on the recruiting trail to follow that up with another blue-chip defensive line class in 2025.

Oklahoma received some good news on that front, landing inside the top eight for Upper Marlboro, Md. four-star defensive line prospect Trent Wilson. Wilson also included the Florida State Seminoles, Penn State Nittany Lions, Maryland Terrapins, Florida Gators, Texas A&M Aggies, Tennessee Volunteers, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Wilson, who plays as the three-technique defensive tackle, or between the guard and tackle in their defensive alignment, plays with good quickness and power. He uses a good first step to dart the gap between opposing offensive linemen to get to the quarterback or bring down the running back in the backfield.

In addition to his quickness, Wilson plays with great strength, showing an ability to redirect offensive linemen. In particular, he has good lower body strength that allows him to earn leverage in his matchups.

Oklahoma has a pair of defensive line prospects committed to the 2025 cycle in Ka’Mori Moore and Alexander Shieldknight. Listed as a defensive lineman, Wilson could play defensive tackle in four-man fronts or flex outside to defensive end in three-man fronts.

Oklahoma Sooners receive Rival Futurecast for 2025 four-star cornerback

The Oklahoma Sooners look to be in a favorable position for 2025 four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers.

The Oklahoma Sooners have had a strong start to the 2025 recruiting cycle, with nine players currently committed to the class. A lot of work has been done on the offensive side of the ball, but Oklahoma does have commitments from a pair of defensive line prospects in Ka’Mori Moore and Alexander Shieldknight, and an athlete projected to play outside linebacker, Marcus James.

Well, the Oklahoma Sooners look like they’re making headway for another defensive standout, four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers. Sellers is a top 150 player in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports and On3, and a consensus top 30 player at his position across the board.

He’s a player that already has good size, standing 6-0 and weighing 170 pounds, and he plays like it. He’s a sticky-man corner that will play through the receiver at the catch point and helps in run support. He’s got the athleticism to play in both man and zone coverages and make plays on the ball in the air.

For Shadow Creek, Sellers also returned punts, and during his senior season, played quarterback.

He’s a good player who will be an important target to follow as the 2025 recruiting class takes center stage. Cornerbacks coach Jay Valai has done an excellent job building his depth chart and Sellers would be another excellent addition.

Sellers has a big-time offer sheet, including Georgia, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Penn State.
