Four-star OL Daniel Cruz down to four schools; Oklahoma Sooners in the mix

Daniel Cruz lists Oklahoma in his top 4 along with Texas, Texas A&M, and Ohio State and plans to commit in July.

Bill Bedenbaugh has filled his recruiting board with several offensive line options. From tackles to guards all across the nation, Bedenbaugh’s cast a wide net. For many rising senior prospects, summertime is a time to lock in on the recruiting process and narrow things down.

247Sports composite four-star [autotag]Daniel Cruz[/autotag] is one of those prospects. Cruz, a projected guard at the next level, has narrowed down his collegiate choices and intends to begin taking official visits this month.

Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M were included in Cruz’s top four schools. Texas is the perceived leader according to a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports from national recruiting analyst Mike Roach.

Cruz visited Ohio State last weekend and plans to be in College Station for his official visit with the Aggies this weekend. Two weekends later, he’ll make his way to Austin, where he’ll have his official visit with the Longhorns.

Cruz plans to commit in July, so this month is the final month for teams to make an impression or any late movement before the final decision. Oklahoma would probably slot fourth on the totem pole here with their Big 12 rivals leading this race. Crazier things have happened, and it is hard to discount Bill Bedenbaugh’s ability to sell Oklahoma with his ability to develop young linemen into NFL-caliber offensive line.

If Cruz does commit elsewhere, Oklahoma has a wide-open board with multiple prospects they could pivot to.

Sooners land official visit from talented 2024 IOL

Oklahoma Sooners to host 2024 three-star IOL Eugene Brooks for an official visit.

As we have now entered into June, recruiting is sure to pick up starting this upcoming weekend. It’s not the famous ChampU BBQ weekend but it will still be filled with some big-time visitors.

One visitor on that list is three-star IOL Eugene Brooks from Sierra Canyon, California.

Brooks is listed at 6-foot-3 and 320 pounds. He’s currently ranked as the No. 35 IOL according to 247Sports composite rankings.

He holds 16 offers currently, and some of those include Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma State, Oregon, USC, and Texas A&M to go along with the Sooners.

On Sunday, he told 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins he would be in Norman this upcoming weekend.

This will be another battle to keep an eye on as On3 Sports currently has the Sooners as a slight favorite over Texas, where he’s expected to be taking an official visit the following weekend on June 16.

Earlier this year, Brooks burst onto the scene with an impressive showing at the Under Armour Next Camp in Los Angeles, where he was named co-offensive line MVP.

Brooks said in an interview earlier this year USC, Oregon, and Texas were recruiting him the hardest. It’ll be no easy task to get the talented lineman to leave the west coast and make Norman his new home. But if anyone is up for the task, it’s offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh.

4-star Tennessee cornerback commit Kaleb Beasley sets official visit with Oklahoma

Four-star cornerback and Tennessee commit Kaleb Beasley has an official visit scheduled with the Oklahoma Sooners.

This is the time of year when the Oklahoma Sooners begin picking up some serious steam on the recruiting trail. As we saw a year ago, it’s the summer months when Brent Venables and his staff will make the most headway.

Now that the calendar has turned to June, it’s officially official visit season, and the Sooners have quite the crew of prospects heading to Norman in the next few weeks.

On June 9-11, Oklahoma will be hosting four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley. Beasley, who’s a top 200 prospect in the [autotag]2024 recruiting class[/autotag], has been committed to the Tennessee Volunteers since October of 2022.

Beasley is the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee according to the On3 Industry ranking and 247Sports. He’s also a top 25 cornerback in the class.

The Oklahoma Sooners have done remarkable work on the recruiting trail over the last couple of cycles in an effort to rebuild their secondary. Oklahoma’s signed nine blue-chip prospects over the last two cycles.

In the 2024 recruiting cycle, Oklahoma has already earned commitments from four-star defensive back prospects Jaydan Hardy and Jeremiah Newcombe.

Getting the opportunity to host one of the best cornerback prospects in the class is another sign of the remarkable work Jay Valai, Brandon Hall, Brent Venables, and Ted Roof have done on the recruiting trail.

Now it’s about Oklahoma putting their best foot forward with Beasley and the other blue-chip prospects they’ll host over the next few months.
