What should the Minnesota Vikings take from the combine? There were a lot of details about quarterback Kirk Cousins, wide receiver Justin Jefferson and outside linebacker Danielle Hunter. What do we make of the latest details?

Along with that, the Vikings ended up releasing running back Alexander Mattison on Monday afternoon. What ended up happening that impacted his salary cap hit? Where will the Vikings go at running back?

We are here to break it all down and more on the latest episode of The Real Forno Show, airing Monday and Wednesday nights at 6 pm central on the Vikings 1st & SKOL YouTube channel.

Steelers OL coach got rolled by C Jackson Powers-Johnson at NFL Combine

Watch Jackson Powers-Johnson smash the Steelers assistant offensive line coach.

The NFL Scouting Combine is basically the most important job interview of any prospect’s life prior to the 2024 NFL draft. So of course they all want to make a great first impression. We are pretty sure that’s what former Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson did when he went up against Pittsburgh Steelers assistant offensive line coach Isaac Williams.

Powers-Johnson lined up opposite Williams, who was armed with his blocking dummy but didn’t stand a chance. Powers-Johnson steamrolled Williams in a display of his rare power and athleticism. I’m guessing Williams will remember that rep when he and talks first-round picks for the Steelers.

Powers-Johnson is one of the top prospects for the Steelers in the first round. The Steelers released Mason Cole in a cost-cutting move but also because he struggled last season. This left Pittsburgh with a huge vacancy on the offensive line and there might not be a better player than Powers-Johnson to replace him with.

Minnesota Vikings fits at combine: Purple Daily on Draft

On the latest episode of Purple Daily on Draft, the topcs include the NFL Scouting Combine and Kirk Cousins’ contract.

The NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone but not without a lot of intrigue.

The Minnesota Vikings were in Indianapolis to see and interview a multitude of prospects try to earn their way into the National Football League. While the workouts are what are the most visible to the general public, how much do they actually matter?

It’s not to say that they don’t matter at all, but it’s not as simple as a fast 40-yard dash means they are either a good football player or going highly in the NFL draft. What do they mean? How do we put the 40-yard dash record for Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy in terms of his draft stock? Were there players that stood out in a good or bad way?

To end the show, the guys discuss the tampering comments from head coach Kevin O’Connell. What can we take away from those comments?

All of that and more on the latest episode of Purple Daily on Draft, dropping every Monday afternoon on the Purple Daily YouTube channel.

Mel Kiper Jr. has Brian Thomas Jr. as a draft riser after eye-popping combine performance

Brian Thomas Jr. helped his stock more than perhaps any player in Indianapolis this past weekend.

The NFL combine is in the books, and a number of players helped their stocks tremendously in Indianapolis this weekend.

However, there was perhaps no player in the class who did more to boost his profile than [autotag]Brian Thomas Jr.[/autotag] Despite a 6-foot-3, 209-pound frame, he recorded the second-fastest 40-yard dash time from a receiver at 4.33 seconds, and he posted the 10th-best Relative Athletic Score for a receiver in the history of the combine, which also marked the best score for an LSU player at any position.

Thomas has long been considered a mid-late first-round prospect, but now, he could push into the top 10. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. listed him among the 10 biggest risers from the combine.

Yes, Worthy set the combine record with a 4.21-second 40-yard dash, and his 10-yard split came in at 1.49 seconds. Thomas ran a little bit slower — 4.33, which ranked second among the receivers in Indy — but his 10-yard split was barely behind Worthy, at 1.50 seconds. And Thomas did that four inches taller and 44 pounds heavier than Worthy.

I write all that to say that Thomas’ overall workout was extremely impressive, backing up his spot in my pre-combine Big Board (No. 11 overall). And even though it’s going to be hard for him to rise too much from there, this was an important event for him. He’s explosive off the line of scrimmage. It might seem strange to say for a wideout who led the FBS with 17 touchdown catches last season, but Thomas is just scratching the surface of his talent. In a loaded receiver class, don’t count him out as being a future No. 1 WR.

As Kiper writes, it’s unlikely Thomas will rise too much in an already-loaded receiver class. But in a cycle with so many elite options at the position, Thomas has cemented himself as yet another.

Photos of LSU players at the 2024 NFL combine, including Brian Thomas Jr.’s historic performance

Brian Thomas Jr. headlined LSU’s contingent in Indianapolis this weekend after he posted one of the best receiver combines ever.

The 2024 NFL scouting combine is in the books, and it was a busy weekend for former LSU Tigers and current draft hopefuls.

While LSU’s two biggest stars — quarterback [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] and receiver [autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag], both of which are projected top 10 picks — didn’t participate in drills and only interviewed, a number of other players went through the full gauntlet.

That includes [autotag]Brian Thomas Jr.[/autotag], who may have helped his stock more than anyone in Indianapolis this week. Thomas registered the second-fasted 40-yard dash time among receivers and recorded a Relative Athletic Score that ranked 10th all-time at the position in the combine’s history.

It was also the best in program history for LSU.

Also in action this weekend were [autotag]Jordan Jefferson[/autotag], [autotag]Mekhi Wingo[/autotag], [autotag]Maason Smith[/autotag], [autotag]Charles Turner[/autotag] and [autotag]Andre Sam[/autotag]. Here are the photos from all of them in Indianapolis this weekend.

Biggest winners from the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

Biggest winners from the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine from Draft Wire’s Jeff Risdon after a long week in Indianapolis

Four days of on-field workouts in Indianapolis concluded on Sunday with the offensive linemen taking the stage at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

Over 300 prospects participated in the interviews, medical examinations, on-field testing and more during the week. Scores of those players performed very well and augmented their appeal to the NFL decision-makers. But a few separated themselves at the top of the most impressive combine performers.

Here are the biggest winners from the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

2024 NFL draft: NFL Scouting Combine and huge trade shakes things up in new 2-round mock draft

Our new two-round mock draft has lots of new names and it solves the Justin Fields problem.

The NFL Scouting Combine is in the books and several players pushed themselves way up draft boards with strong performances. We decided it was time for a huge update to our two-round mock draft with lots of new names included.

We also decided to take care of the Justin Fields problem. We see plenty of mock drafts that give the Chicago Bears a quarterback No. 1 overall but don’t account for Fields. In this two-rounder, we have the Pittsburgh Steelers trading their second-round pick this year (as well as a third-round pick in 2025) so in evaluating this, the Bears now have an extra second and the Steelers hope they have their quarterback of the future.

Here are the final 2024 NFL Combine grades for every Texas A&M participant

Here are the final 2024 NFL Scouting combine grades for Edgerrin Cooper, Demani Richardson, Ainias Smith, and Layden Robinson.

The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is over, and the results are in: those who participated in the offensive line drills will likely all make an NFL roster, including former Texas A&M OL Layden Robinson, and former Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy is really, really fast, running a combine record 4.21 second 40-yard dash.

While every position group showed up, Robinson was the last to participate. Still, former Aggies linebacker Edgerrin Cooper showed out on the first day, running an impressive 4.52 40-yard dash, and a 1.54 second 10-yard split, tied for third best among participating linebackers.

On Friday, veteran safety Demani Richardson had an adequate day, running a 4.6 40 while possessing the tools to one day thrive as a box safety once he finds his footing. Last but not least, wide receiver Ainias Smith would sadly miss the on-field drills due to a newly discovered stress fracture in his left shin, but he could participate in the bench press, notching an impressive 21 reps.

Now focused on the NFL Draft set for April 25, here are the final grades for all four Aggies, according to NFL.com.

Every player the Bucs met with at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

Check out all the draft prospects the Tampa Bay Buccaneers met with at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is officially in the books, and just like every other team in the league, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were busy all week meeting with some of the top prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class in between their on-field responsibilities at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

While it’s true that most prospects meet with just about every team, it can still be a clue that a particular team is interested in a collection of players, particularly at positions where they have the biggest needs.

The Bucs only have six picks in this year’s draft at the moment (with a compensatory seventh-rounder likely being added soon), but that didn’t stop them from meeting with more than 100 players at this year’s event.

Here’s every player (that we know of) they met with in Indy this week (via Pewter Report):
