Alabama offers class of 2024 five-star point guard Dedan Thomas

Crimson Tide Hoops offer top-25 player in the 2024 class a scholarship

Nate Oats has changed the trajectory of Alabama basketball since he took over in 2019, especially on the recruiting trail. The Crimson Tide, not traditionally known for landing elite basketball talent, have had six five-star players in program history. Three of those six have been during Oats regime.

Dedan Thomas, the No. 4 point guard in the 2024 class, is Alabama’s next target as they recently extended an offer, according to Joe Tipton of On3. Thomas is a top-25 player in the class out of Henderson, Nevada and already holds offers from the likes of Arizona, Gonzaga, Houston and many more, so it will be an uphill battle to land his services.

Alabama has had a lot of success at the PG position in recent years with guys like Colin Sexton and Kira Lewis Jr. both becoming first-round picks.

While they are going through the NBA draft process, it is expected that Mark Sears and Jahvon Quinerly will both return to Tuscaloosa in the fall. However, I would imagine it will be the last season for both of them which would allow for Thomas to see playing time immediately in 2024.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor Dedan Thomas and the 2024 recruiting class.

2024 5-star DL David Stone announces USC as one of his top schools

USC isn’t the favorite for this recruit, but it is definitely in the mix and quite possibly in the top three.

Oklahoma City (Okla.) native and IMG Academy five-star defensive lineman David Stone currently holds more than 32 offers, but he narrowed his list down to 10 earlier this week.

Stone announced his top 10 schools: USC, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, LSU, Oregon, Michigan State, Miami-FL, Tennessee and Florida.

According to the recruiting prediction machine provided by On3 Sports, there’s a 96.7% chance that Stone will choose to play in his original home state and attend Oklahoma.

The Crystal Ball predictions at 247Sports also have Stone becoming a Sooner when he makes his decision.

Stone grew up in Oklahoma rooting for the Sooners, so it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him land in Norman, but Michigan State and USC are definitely the next teams in the mix.

USC currently is ranked 11th in the 2024 recruiting class with three hard commits that include: Joey Olsen, Aaron Butler, Jason Robinson all four star recruits at their respective positions.

Texas offers 2024 tight end Michael Smith out of Georgia

Texas offers on of the nation’s best tight end prospects in the 2024 class.

Steve Sarkisian and his Texas staff are killing it on the recruiting trail for the 2023 cycle. The Longhorns sit inside the top five in the team recruiting ranks, but the Horns are already getting a jump start on the class of 2024.

Texas has sent out an offer to four-star tight end Michael Smith out of Savannah, Georgia.

247Sports composite list Smith as the No. 6 tight end in the nation and the No. 133 overall prospect in his class.

Smith took home first team all-district while hauling in 42 passes for 684 yards and nine scores. He is a two-sport athlete who excels on the basketball court during the offseason.

The junior has picked up nearly 20 offers and is catching the attention of some of the premier programs across the country.

2024 WR Tyseer Denmark visiting Texas this weekend

Denmark is one of the most talented players in the class of 2024.

Tyseer Denmark is becoming one of the bigger names in the class of 2024. Although he is currently unranked by 247Sports, the Philadelphia product has offers from powerhouse programs such as Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas, USC and many others.

Denmark has made his way to the Lone Star State for a pair of visits. First, a trip to Texas A&M on Thursday, followed by a quick drive to Austin to check out Texas.

The Texas staff is focused on signing another talented class in 2023, but getting the jump on an elite 2024 talent like Denmark is a good sign. The Longhorns have already landed a pair of four-stars for the class of 2024 in Avery Hampton and Jaden Allen.

Wide receivers coach Brennan Marion has many priority targets in the class of 2023, it appears Denmark is high on Marion’s board for the next cycle.

HOOKED: Texas lands commitment from 2024 DB Aeryn Hampton

#SarkAfterDark strikes again!

Texas struck again with a late night commitment, adding Aeryn Hampton to their 2024 recruiting class just after midnight.

Hampton is a player many teams in the Big 12 have interest in. The east Texas product chose the Longhorns over offers from the likes of Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

The do-it-all player was a force on both sides of the ball during his sophomore season at Daingerfield. Hampton tallied over 1300 yards and 18 touchdowns on offense playing both wide receiver and running back. He also excelled as a defensive back where he snagged nine interceptions including five pick-sixes.

Hampton joins fellow defensive back Jaden Allen as the lone commits of the 2024 class.

It is a long way until Hampton officially signs, but landing a commitment from a talent like him is a major victory for Texas’ staff.

Alabama offers No. 2 prospect in 2024 class, Desmond Ricks

On Saturday, the No. 1 rated cornerback in the 2024 class, Desmond Ricks, received an offer from Alabama.

It’s never too early to get excited about some of the best young prospects in the country. Especially when Nick Saban has identified their talent at such an early age.

On Saturday, the No. 1 rated cornerback in the 2024 class, Desmond Ricks, received an offer from the Crimson Tide. Coming out of IMG Academy, he is in his second season of playing at the varsity level.

Ricks marks just the 9th offer Alabama has made within the 2024 class. Four other defensive backs have heard from the reigning national champions, all from California or Texas.

However, we know how much the state of Florida enjoys sending guys to Tuscaloosa. Especially the defensive backs. Patrick Surtain was the last five-star, while Jordan Battle (2018) and Terrion Arnold (2021) have come since then.

There is a long way to go with Ricks’ recruitment but history shows Alabama will be in the race until the end.

Four-star 2024 DB Jaydan Hardy keeping options open early in recruiting process

Lewisville’s season opened up with a 50-7 win over Arlington Bowie. LonghornsWire was able to catch up with four-star safety Jaydon Hardy after.

Lewisville’s season opened up with a dominating 50-7 win over Arlington Bowie. Division I talent played on both sides of the ball but sophomore Jaydan Hardy could have been the best.

Playing safety and wide receiver for the Farmers, Hardy finished the night with one reception for seven yards. He broke passes up when Bowie attempted to push the ball downfield, while also returned punts.

Getting a win to start the year was important to Hardy. Lewisville has high expectations for the season and going 1-0 was just the beginning.

“It felt great (to win). Just coming out here and showing people the talent we have.”

For personal goals, Hardy just wants to contribute to the team any way he possibly can. Whether it is at wide receiver or safety, being versatile and becoming a team leader is the priority of the four-star 2024 prospect.

As for Lewisville, the 2020 season ended with a second-round loss to Arlington Martin. Hardy and his teammates have different expectations this season. Not only making it to AT&T Stadium is the goal but lifting hardware is the only acceptable option.

“The goal for the team is state,” said Hardy. “We are not going to settle for less.”

After picking up his first Divison I offer back in mid-January, 10 other offers came throughout May and June. Big-time programs such as Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M have reached out.

Hardy went to three camps over the summer in College Station, Oxford, and Tuscaloosa. It’s only a few months into his recruitment, but the four-star has been enjoying everything so far.

“It was amazing going out and seeing colleges and being able to just experience it all and getting into the recruiting process. I love it, it’s amazing.”

Despite also playing on offense, Hardy is going to be recruited as a defensive back. The District 6-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year had 61 tackles and two interceptions as a freshman.

For Texas, Blake Gideon has been the point of contact. Hardy has “talked to” and stayed in close contact” with the safety coach after receiving the offer back on June 2.

Being so early in the recruitment, Hardy is not rushing into anything. Just a sophomore, there is plenty of time to go through the process. For now, getting results on the field is the main focus.

“I am keeping my options open, just coming out here and playing football.”

On the 247Sports composite, Hardy is the No. 37 overall prospect in the 2024 class. He ranks at No. 4 among sophomore safeties and No. 6 within the Lone Star State.

On Monday, Stan Drayton began working on the 2024 class by offering four-star Stacy Gage. The soon-to-be sophomore is already up to 25 offers.

Nobody has been a better recruiter on Texas’ staff over the past few seasons than Stan Drayton. The running backs coach has brought in top prospects nearly every cycle, with Bijan Robinson being the crown jewel in the 2020 class.

On Monday, Drayton began working on the 2024 class by offering four-star Stacy Gage. Coming out of IMG Academy, the soon-to-be sophomore is already up to 25 offers. After seeing he is listed at 5-11, 200 pounds, it’s easy to see why Gage will be recruited by every program in the country.
