Josh Allen accepted a fantasy trade for himself on fan’s phone during 2024 ACC golf tournament

Josh Allen accepted a fantasy trade for himself on a fan’s phone during 2024 ACC golf tournament:

Josh Allen likes include golf, football, and being confident at both.

At the 2024 American Century golf tournament, he put all of that on display in one swift non-golf move on the course in Lake Tahoe.

Allen finished 20th in the event. One fan is hoping to do much better than that in their 2024 fantasy football league thanks to the Buffalo Bills QB.

The tournament is a fun one. Allen hit basketball (yes, basketball) shots in between one of his golf shots on an occasion. In another, he accepted a fantasy football trade… for himself.

A fan caught his attention while he walking down the fairway. The request was for Allen to hit the “accept” button on a trade in their fantasy football league which gave him Allen.

Judging by the reaction of the fan, Allen probably just did what was asked of him.

Josh Allen uses golf tournament to show off his basketball skills (video)

Turns out Allen does have basketball skills after all:

As it turns out, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen does have some basketball skills.

Earlier this offseason, Allen inadvertently started an NFL-NBA debate. A random question at a press conference to Allen asked him about his skills on the hardwood. Allen said he could maybe put in a few minutes on the court and debate about that ensued.

But Allen did show that… he actually might have a point. At least a little bit of one.

During the 2024 American Century golf tournament, Allen finished in a tie for 20th place. The celebrity event is not a traditional golf tournament as it’s setup for participants to have fun.

In the spirit of entertainment, a basketball hoop was stationed on one of the holes. Allen decided he’d put up some deep shots at the bucket in between his hits on the golf course.

Allen nailed them.

The Bills QB hooping on the course can be found in the NBC Sports clip below:

Why did Tony Romo fly to Wisconsin directly after playing celebrity golf in Lake Tahoe? More golf

He flew across the country to Wisconsin just hours after playing in the American Century Championship.

WAUKESHA, Wisc. – Within 96 hours, Tony Romo played 72 holes of golf.

He still can’t get enough of it, even if he’s never seen the course before.

The former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro quarterback and CBS commentator from Burlington competed Monday in the 123rd Wisconsin State Amateur Golf Championship at The Legend at Merrill Hills.

He flew across the country to Wisconsin just hours after playing in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

“It’s fun,” he said of the celebrity tournament. “We take a lot of family and friends. We probably had 20 people or so. That’s one of our favorite trips of the year.

“It was a blast outside of golf. When you play good golf, everything’s more fun.”

Romo is no stranger to the American Century Championship, having won it in 2018, 2019, and 2022. He came up short this year, though, tying with Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Doug Pederson for 38th.

Romo sought to redeem himself in the State Amateur, despite having to make a quick transition from the American Century Championship.

He’s no stranger to the immediate turn.

Last year, due to a delayed flight, Romo didn’t get in until 3:30 a.m. He knew, though, that he had a special opportunity to play with his dad, Ramiro, who also qualified for the opening round at the Erin Hills golf course.

Although Ramiro isn’t playing this year, Tony still made the trip after a disappointing performance in Lake Tahoe.

“It means a lot,” he said. “If it wasn’t this tournament, I don’t think I would probably be coming. It’s a long week (at Lake Tahoe). I feel like it just shows how much I want to play and how good the WSGA does to put this on.

“It’s gonna be as good a golf course as you’re gonna play every year, condition-wise. It’s as well done as any tournament you’re gonna play in the state. They’ve really outdone themselves this year and last year, each time I’ve played.”

Unfortunately, the struggles Romo faced in Lake Tahoe followed him for his first-ever round of golf at The Legend at Merrill Hills.

In the first round, he finished 14-over-par 85 and is tied for No. 149, four strokes out of last place.

“All the above,” he said when asked about multiple potential injuries.

Before the celebrity tournament, Romo was in France with family. He felt the turnaround between France and Nevada also threw off his game.

“Chipping, wedge game has been poor when I came back,” he said. “I’ve been hitting the ball fine. When I came back it just felt a little foreign. Just trying to work out the kinks now.”

Even with NFL training camps opening up next week, CBS’ main color commentator has some more golf tournaments lined up. He’s set to play in the Texas State Open and the Utah State Open.

Romo’s plan for improvement in the next couple tournaments?

“I think in the future I need to see the golf course before I play it,” he said.

“That’ll probably help.”

#Bills’ Josh Allen chips in shot at 2024 American Century Championship (video):

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a solid showing at the 2024 American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.

Allen finished the event tied in 20th, up from his 37th place finish in 2023.

Of all his attempts throughout the three-day tournament, the best came in Round 1. Allen had three birdies on the day, and one of them was a beautiful chip shot on the edge of the 11th hole that Allen managed to roll into the cup.

The chip can be found in the NBC Sports clip below:

Josh Allen finishes tied in 20th at 2024 American Century Championship

Josh Allen finishes tied in 20th at 2024 American Century Championship:

Like his ability to break the huddle, Josh Allen’s golf game has continued to improve.

Over the past weekend, Allen competed in the 2024 American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. The celebrity event is one the Buffalo Bills QB has joined in recent years.

Allen finished in 37th in last year’s. In 2024, he did even better.

The leaderboard showed that Allen was in a tie for the 20th overall position after the third and final round. Allen was in a three-player draw with golf podcaster Hally Leadbetter and former NBA player Dell Curry. Their final score was 39 points.

Winning it with 83 points was former tennis professional Mardy Fish. In 2020, Fish also won the ACC tournament, edging out former Bills defensive lineman Kyle Williams, who was in second.

In terms of NFL quarterbacks, Allen was the fourth-best. Now retired QB Matt Ryan finished in a tie for 16th. Current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers finished in 15th while Derek Carr of the New Orleans Saints rounded out this group in 11th.

Charles Barkley has best finish at American Century Championship, even after Sunday hangover

“A little tired, a little hungover, but I kept battling.”

STATELINE, Nev. — Charles Barkley and the American Century Championship: the gift that keeps on giving.

Barkley finished in 58th place with minus-4 points, making winners of everyone who bet he would finish in the top 75 this year. In fact, it was his best finish at the event. He had positive points after the opening round for the first time.

“It feels really good. I put a lot of time and effort in,” Barkley said. “I’ve been working hard for the last few years. The last couple of years actually haven’t been bad. I had a shot at it.”

Barkley was proud he recovered after a rough start to Sunday’s round.

But he admitted there might have been a reason he was sluggish to start the round.

“A little tired, a little hungover, but I kept battling,” he said. “But I played really, really well the first two days, but this probably was my best day because I didn’t have any good stuff going early but I kept battling. I’m really proud about today’s round because, like I say, I started out struggling and I found a way to get it together. But I played great the first two days.”

Mardy Fish captured the title on Sunday at Edgewood Tahoe with 83 points. Joe Pavelski was second with 79 points while Annika Sorenstam was third with 68.

Mardy Fish captures 2024 American Century Championship, second ACC celebrity title

The ACC set an attendance record of 77,049 fans over the week.

STATELINE, Nev. — After finishing second last year in a thrilling duel, Mardy Fish might have had a small chip on his shoulder.

But Fish is known for handling his emotions well, as well as having a dry, sarcastic sense of humor.

He made up for last year’s disappointing second-place finish by capturing the title on Sunday in the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe.

He finished with 83 points in the Modified Stableford scoring system, after scoring 26 on Sunday, following a blistering tournament-record 34 points on Saturday.

Joe Pavelski was hot on his heels all week and finished second with 79 points. Annika Sorenstam was third with 68 and John Smoltz finished fourth with 64.

ACC: Best celebrity photos

Fish won $150,000 for first place, an increase over previous payouts. Last year Curry won $125,000. Fish’s score was one point off the tournament record of 84 set by Billy Joe Tolliver in 2010.

Fish joked when asked what he would do with the money.

“I mean, I got bills to pay, man. I live in Los Angeles. I have two kids right there that are very expensive,” he said, smiling and pointing to his two children in the media room Sunday. “It kind of shows where the tournament’s going and where it’s headed and continuing to sort of grow the American Century Championship throughout.”

Fish also won the ACC in 2020, when no spectators were allowed at Edgewood. His entire payday that yer was donated to charities around Lake Tahoe.

The start of Sunday’s third round was delayed about a half hour due to rain around Lake Tahoe.

Fish said that delay did not affect him.

“No big deal. “It gives you time to go mingle with your buddies you haven’t seen. I saw Larry Fitz (Fitzgerald), he was coming off No. 9, going to 10. And we were just about to tee off — first time I’d seen him all week. We’re good buddies; he’s a Minnesota boy and so am I,” Fish said. “I was texting with Travis Kelce all week. And he’s, I’m going to find you tomorrow, period. And we had the delay. So you get to kind of see those people that — I don’t see those guys very often other than here or maybe Orlando or something like that.”

Pavelski has announced he will retire from hockey, He played for the San Jose Sharks and then the Dallas Stars.

Having that time off could help his already solid golf game though.

“This is my best showing. I think if I could replicate this here the next few years, if we get the opportunity, hopefully we have a chance to lift that trophy like Fish is doing,” Pavelski said. “Golf is a game I love. Definitely going to be playing, practicing, trying to get a little better at it. But you get in a tournament you never know how fully it’s going to play out.”

The ACC set an attendance record of 77,049 fans over the week.

Photos: Celebrities hit the links at the 2024 American Century Championship

Edgewood Tahoe is the place to be this weekend.

One of the best weeks of the year is here, as the American Century Championship kicked off Friday at Edgewood Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada.

The annual event brings together some of the biggest celebrities in sports from all backgrounds, whether it be current NFL stars like Travis Kelce and Trevor Lawrence to legends of the game like Annika Sorenstam and more.

NFL wide receiver Adam Thielen leads after the first round with 24 points, though Mardy Fish is right on his tail with 23. Last year, Stephen Curry made an ace en route to winning, though he’s not in the field this year because of his obligations with the U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team.

Jason Kelce wins American Century Championship’s Long Drive Competition, celebrates with bubbly

The sibling rivalry between Jason and Travis Kelce is heating up once again.

The sibling rivalry between Jason and Travis Kelce is heating up once again. This time on the golf course.

As the annual American Century Championship gets underway in Lake Tahoe this weekend, Jason got out to the course early and demonstrated his raw power by smashing a ball 322 yards to win the Long Drive Competition.

It was Jason Kelce’s first time teeing up in the Longest Drive and it couldn’t have gone any better. With AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” playing over the speakers, the retired Philadelphia Eagles star stepped up to the tee and did everything right. Perfect swing, perfect contact, perfect carry.

There’s just something a little bittersweet about the victory since Travis Kelce won the contest last year with a much longer drive with a carry of 362 yards.

On the one hand, Jason defended the Kelce family’s title. On the other, the next episode of New Heights recapping the weekend should be much more fun for Travis than Jason.

We might need a drive-off between these two to settle this one. Or at the very least, Travis needs to try to reclaim his title next year.
