Vikings’s all-time record vs. each opponent on 2023 schedule

With 14 different opponents on the Minnesota Vikings 2023 schedule, they have had a lot of success against them.

On Sunday evening, the Vikings’ opponents were finalized for their 2023 schedule and it looks daunting, as they face the AFC West and have a first place schedule.

While 2022 is still going strong, it’s never too early to look at the future. Here are the their 2023 opponents with the Vikings’ record against each opponent.

Patriots slated to travel 10th-most miles of all NFL teams in 2023

The Patriots crack the top-10 in expected mileage in 2023.

The New England Patriots might need a song playlist on the level of Star Lord’s to help pass the time on the road in the 2023 season. According to a new chart by Bill Speros, the Patriots are expected to have the 10th-most total mileage out of all 32 teams.

The official NFL schedule is slated to be released on Thursday, but the Patriots’ home and away opponents are already known.

It was revealed on Wednesday that the team would be facing the Indianapolis Colts at Frankfurt Stadium in Germany. So that trip alone is sure to rack up some miles for the Patriots.

The team is also scheduled to travel out west to take on the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders.

A large travel schedule can definitely wear on a team, especially when it comes to travel time and trekking across multiple time zones.

When it comes to the AFC East, the Patriots are second behind the Miami Dolphins in total mileage. So they won’t be alone in their plight. However, being disciplined on the road could mean the difference between winning and losing in 2023.

Cowboys won’t travel to London, won’t host Aaron Rodgers for Thanksgiving

From @ToddBrock24f7: The Cowboys were not mentioned in the first batch of released matchups, but a few key clues about the 2023 schedule can be gleaned anyway.

The Cowboys will not be traveling to London this season, and they won’t be having Aaron Rodgers over to the house on Thanksgiving.

The NFL announced the first batch of 2023 regular-season games Wednesday, and the Cowboys aren’t mentioned anywhere. Just the same, it answers just a few of the questions and puts to bed a couple of theories about where the team might be and when during the upcoming campaign.

This year’s installment of the league’s International Series offered just one slot for Dallas to play a game on foreign soil. Of the designated “home” teams that had been previously named to host five games in London and Frankfurt, only the Bills appeared on the Cowboys’ list of away opponents. But with the revelation that Buffalo will instead host the Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 8, the Cowboys can safely put away their passports for another year.

(That game does, however, lend further credence to the belief held by many that the NFL is moving toward eventually having a team be at least partially based in London. The Jaguars, who have played a UK game annually since 2013, will be the “home” team for a Week 4 contest at Wembley Stadium, and then extend their stay to be the visitor against the Bills seven days later across town. It’s the first time a team will play two London games in a single season.)

The Cowboys have not played an international game since 2014. Only the Steelers have gone longer without an appearance in the global series.

The league also unveiled the details for its first-ever “Black Friday” tilt, to be aired on Amazon Prime the day after Thanksgiving. That game will feature the Miami Dolphins versus the New York Jets and means that the Cowboys will not be hosting the Jets the day before. Many had expected the NFL to use the plum holiday timeslot to schedule the highly-anticipated rematch between Dallas and their former Packers nemesis, now playing quarterback for Gang Green.

With the Jets off the table and Detroit hosting their own Thanksgiving game, it narrows down the Cowboys’ remaining possibilities for this year’s Turkey Day contest to the Rams, Seahawks, Patriots, or any of their NFC East division mates.

In other scheduling news, Christmas Day will see a showdown between the Giants and Eagles as one game of a planned tripleheader. The Cowboys could theoretically still play on Dec. 25 in one of the other contests, but their Week 16 opponent won’t be either of these rivals.

A few more games will be announced on Thursday, leading up to the release of the full 2023 schedule Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET.

NFL announces opponent and date for Patriots’ international game

The Patriots officially have their opponent and time slotted for their international game in 2023.

Get ready for some Deutschland action with the New England Patriots slated to fly to Germany to take on the Indianapolis Colts in the 2023 season.

The NFL made the news official on Wednesday with the game set for November 12 at Frankfurt Stadium.

It was a demolition show when the Patriots faced the Colts last season at Gillette Stadium. Sam Ehlinger was the quarterback for Indy, and he was sacked nine times and finished the game with a 10.8 quarterback rating. Matthew Judon and Josh Uche were feasting on sack lunches up front, and cornerback Jonathan Jones recorded a pick-six in the game.

Of course, things could be much different this time around with the Colts using the No. 4 overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft on Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson.

The Patriots should be even better on the defensive side of the ball after a strong draft, and their offense could see significant improvements with major coaching changes, including hiring Bill O’Brien as the offensive coordinator.

An early morning showdown in Germany between two improved AFC teams could be the main headline going into this game.

Colts to play Patriots in Germany for Week 10 matchup

The Colts are heading overseas in Week 10!

The 2023 schedule will be released Thursday night, but we now know that the Indianapolis Colts will be facing off against the New England Patriots in Germany.

For the first time since they traveled to London in 2016, the Colts will be playing in an international game. This one will take place in Week 10 at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt on Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m. ET. The game will air on NFL Network.

The Colts and Patriots will be the final international game of the season. The Houston Texans are the only AFC South team to not have a game overseas, while the Jacksonville Jaguars are scheduled to have two games overseas in back-to-back weeks (Weeks 4 and 5).

Zulgad: Projecting what the Vikings’ 2023 schedule will look like

Ahead of Thursday night’s release, @jzulgad gives his best guess on predicting the Minnesota Vikings schedule.

The springtime is a time when many media members and fans offer up their mock NFL drafts. What often gets lost is the small community of us who attempt to mock the schedule for certain teams.

The NFL schedule release has become a prime-time event for television and gives you the first real look at what teams will have to do to get into the playoffs. Yes, the Vikings’ opponents were known the day the season ended but it’s the order that’s important, not to mention which games will fall in prime time, or on holidays.

We will find that out on Thursday evening, May 11th.

That means I will mock (OK, guess) the Vikings’ schedule for the Purple Daily podcast I do with Phil Mackey and Declan Goff on SKOR North. So what will the schedule look like? Here’s one man’s best guess, starting with a prime-time meeting in the Mile High City.

Also, for Sunday games, we will offer a Red Zone ranking. In other words, how much will Scott Hanson (the host I watch on cable) and Co., be focusing on the game.

Again this is a predicted Vikings schedule and not the real thing. If you want the full audio version, watch the video embedded at the end of the article.

Ranking Chiefs’ potential opponents for NFL season opener

Our @Nicolas_Roesch ranks the best potential opponents for the #Chiefs’ season opener.

The 2023 NFL schedule will be released on Thursday, May 11.

As the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Thursday night season opener on September 7. With nine possible opponents to choose from, the league is tasked with picking the most intriguing matchup.

Let’s rank the best potential matchups for that opening game:

ESPN’s matchup predictor projects the Oklahoma Sooners 2023 season

ESPN’s matchup predictor suggests the Oklahoma Sooners will be one of the best teams in the Big 12 in 2023.

Though the 2023 season is still months away, we’re getting an early look at what some of the national observers think about the Oklahoma Sooners in their final season in the Big 12.

Last week we took a look at College Football News schedule prediction for the Oklahoma Sooners and yesterday, it was ESPN’s win projections for the Big 12 after the Football Power Index update.

With the FPI update, let’s take a look at the win probabilities for the Oklahoma Sooners from ESPN’s matchup predictor.

Things are looking pretty optimistic.

Patriots have hardest 2023 schedule of all teams, per analytics expert

The Patriots might have to overcome more than just their offense.

As if the New England Patriots needed more bad news.

NFL analytics expert Warren Sharp put together a strength of schedule rankings based on projected win totals from Las Vegas oddsmakers, and the Patriots are listed as the team with the hardest schedule in the 2023 season.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering the massive leap of improvement in the AFC East division. The Buffalo Bills are perennial Super Bowl contenders, and the Miami Dolphins are knocking on the door. Meanwhile, the New York Jets are expected to pull off a trade for Green Bay Packers legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers at some point.

The Patriots will have a hard enough time staying competitive in their own division.

They’re also expected to have run-ins with both teams that competed in Super Bowl LVII, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. It really will be an uphill climb for a Patriots team that has missed the playoffs in two of their last three seasons.

They’ll need a big draft or perhaps even a blockbuster trade (I’m looking at you DeAndre Hopkins and Jerry Jeudy) to put themselves in position to survive the hardest and most important season they’ve seen in quite some time.

We’ve known the opponents for quite some time now but we haven’t known the official dates the games would all be taking place for Notre Dame football in 2023.  The football program announced the dates of the games that were still to be determined on Wednesday, doing so with the ACC’s release of their 2023 schedule.

Notre Dame opens the year against Navy in Dublin, Ireland before starting the home portion of their schedule a week later against Tennessee State.  Traditional rivals USC and Stanford both have their regular slots while Ohio State and Clemson highlight the biggest games against non-traditional foes.

Here is Notre Dame’s full schedule for 2023 along with a few initial thoughts on each game.
