Watch: Notre Dame running back Diggs prepping for the season

Will he be the starter?

Training camp is right around the corner but that doesn’t mean players aren’t getting ready for the season. That goes for Notre Dame running back [autotag]Logan Diggs[/autotag], who is in competition for the starting spot [autotag]Kyren Williams[/autotag] left open after his departure to the NFL.

With the loss for the season of [autotag]Jadarian Price[/autotag] to an Achilles’ tendon injury, the door is open for one of the three returning backs to step up. Along with Diggs, [autotag]Chris Tyree[/autotag] and [autotag]Audric Estime[/autotag] are in the running to line up with the quarterback in the season opener against Ohio State. This video tweeted by Diggs’ trainer Albert Brock of ABX Performance, it seems as if Diggs wants that starting job.

The Irish leading returning rusher looks ready for the grind of the season. Even though there has yet to be a starter named, it appears Diggs is ready to take the mantle.

Four-star RB TreVonte’ Citizen commits to LSU over Texas, Auburn

As expected after Texas landed Jamarion Miller, TreVonte’ Citizen announced his commitment to LSU on Monday.

At one point, four-star running back TreVonte’ Citizen was one of Texas’ primary targets as a complimentary running back to Jaydon Blue in their 2022 recruiting class.

When the Longhorns instead landed a commitment from four-star running back Jamarion Miller on June 28, the general feel was that Citizen would decide between LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M.

On Monday, Citizen officially decided to stay close to home and announced his commitment to LSU. He is rated the No. 9 overall prospect from the state of Louisiana and the No. 11 running back for the 2022 cycle according to 247Sports.

“I’m excited to compete against, and with the best in the country. We’re bringing a national title back to Louisiana,” Citizen stated when announcing his commitment.

Citizen played both sides of the ball for Lake Charles College Prep in 2020 and rushed the ball 62 times for 615 yards and eight touchdowns. He added on five receptions for 48 yards through the air.

Report: Four-star RB Jamarion Miller making an official visit to Texas

Texas still has big names flooding to ATX for official visits.

Three weekends into summer visits, Steve Sarkisian and his staff have done an excellent job showcasing their vision for the programs. Reviews have been A+ from players and parents.

With one more weekend to go, Texas still has big names flooding to ATX for official visits. A big-name running back just so happened to be added to the list.

According to Justin Wells of Inside Texas, Jamarion Miller is going to be making an official visit to Austin this weekend. The four-star running back has already seen Florida and Texas A&M officially.

Getting Miller on campus is a win amongst itself. Other running back targets were thought to be more realistic options for Stan Drayton. If whiffing and possibly burning a bridge, Texas is now going full blitz after the east Texas running back.

Texas’ running back recruitment is a bit murky right now.

Jaydon Blue is still currently committed but questions have come up about the four-star. He opted out of his senior season, wanting to prepare for college football. The first to do so at the high school level. Nobody is quite sure how Sarkisian and his staff feel about the decision.

Either way, Blue remains in the 2022 class. The search for another running back was going to continue.

De’Anthony Gatson was thought to be the guy but he ended up committing to USC on Tuesday. Although he may not have been option No. 1, it felt like a recruitment Drayton was going to win. Gatson must not have heard that Californians are coming to Austin, not Texans to Los Angeles.

Closing the gap on Miller would be big time for Texas. Even if Blue happens to cycle out of the class, Miller could easily be the headline running back. Speed on the outside is where the four-star shines, something we know Sarkisian will love.

Three-star running back DeAnthony Gatson announces commitment date

After making three official visits, DeAnthony Gatson is going to make a decision. He announced he will be committing on Tuesday, June 22.

Recruiting momentum is at an all-time high early on during the Steve Sarkisian era. Top players from across the country pilgrimaged to Austin, headlined by the first junior day since 2019.

Last Saturday began the festivities, with a decent amount of ’22 prospects made their first official visits. Three-star DeAnthony Gatson was one of them, spending two days around the Texas football program.

The Newton native headed out west to Los Angeles this weekend, to see USC while Colorado is still on the calendar. The three schools are a part of Gatson’s top five, with Iowa State and Minnesota looking from the outside in.

After making three official visits, Gatson is going to make a decision. He announced he will be committing on Tuesday, June 22.

Colorado, Texas, and USC seem to be the leaders here. For the Longhorns, Gatson is expected to play running back. Despite still having a commitment from Jaydon Blue, Stan Drayton has focused on getting another back for the class.

Considering Iowa State will not receive a visit prior to the commitment, Matt Campbell could be out. As for Minnesota, the Gophers took another running back from Texas in Zach Evans this past week.
