Chiefs face no teams coming off of a bye week in 2022

The #Chiefs have a tough schedule in 2022, but no teams will get an extra week of rest and preparation before facing them.

You’ve probably heard by now that the Kansas City Chiefs have one of the toughest schedules of the 2022 NFL season. Nine of their 14 opponents in 2021 were playoff teams. Their first eight opponents all had winning records last season, which is a historical mark when it comes to tough schedules.

If you’re looking for a silver lining in terms of the schedule, we’re happy to report that there actually is one. The Chiefs might have the toughest schedule in the league next season, but their opponents won’t get much help in terms of extra rest.

The Chiefs don’t face a single team coming off of the bye week in 2022. They also only face a single with a mini-bye week, which comes following a Thursday night game.

Check it out:

Week Chiefs’ opponent Who that opponent plays the week prior
1 @ Arizona Cardinals N/A
2 vs Los Angeles Chargers (TNF) vs. Las Vegas Raiders
3 @ Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars
4 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (SNF) vs. Green Bay Packers
5 vs. Las Vegas Raiders (MNF) vs. Denver Broncos
6 vs. Buffalo Bills vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
7 @ San Francisco 49ers @ Atlanta Falcons
8 BYE BYE
9 vs. Tennessee Titans (SNF) @ Houston Texans
10 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Las Vegas Raiders (Week 11 BYE)
11 @ Los Angeles Chargers @ San Francisco 49ers (SNF)
12 vs. Los Angeles Rams @ New Orleans Saints
13 @ Cincinnati Bengals @ Tennessee Titans
14 @ Denver Broncos (SNF) @ Baltimore Ravens
15 @ Houston Texans @ Dallas Cowboys
16 vs. Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers (TNF)
17 vs. Denver Broncos @ Los Angeles Rams
18 @ Las Vegas Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers

Some other interesting quirks of the schedule include:

  • Nine teams will play a road game prior to playing the Chiefs.
  • Seven teams will play a home game prior to playing the Chiefs.
  • Three teams will face the 49ers before playing the Chiefs.
  • Only one team (Seahawks, Week 16) will get extra rest before playing the Chiefs.
  • Only one team (Chargers, Week 11) will have played a prime-time game the week before facing the Chiefs.
  • Only one team (Jaguars, Week 10) will have a bye week following their game with the Chiefs.

Kansas City will certainly take all the help it can get with the grinder of a schedule they’re up against in 2022. No opponents getting an extra week of rest almost feels like a reward given how tough the schedule already is.

Ed Oliver has no problem with the Bills playing on Thanksgiving

Ed Oliver has no problem with the #Bills playing on Thanksgiving:

The Buffalo Bills are not the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions when it comes to Thanksgiving Day football.

But it feels like it.

The Bills will have featured on three of the last four turkey games after this year’s.

Perhaps it’s the winning Buffalo has done on the day or maybe it’s just the feel of football and the holiday.

We know at least one Bills player love suiting up on Thanksgiving, though. It’s Ed Oliver.

The defensive tackle took to his social media account on Instagram after the team’s 2022 schedule was released. Evidently upon seeing his team slated to face the Lions on Thanksgiving this upcoming season, Oliver had a thought.

The Bills and Thanksgiving should be a yearly event in his mind, even sharing an image of the social media icon that is the “dude with sign.”

Eagles schedule: 5 predictions for Philadelphia’s 2022 slate of games

Eagles schedule: 5 predictions for Philadelphia’s 2022 slate of games

The Philadelphia Eagles’ 2022 schedule was released along with the rest of the NFL slate the past Thursday, with the season kicking off on Thursday, Sept. 8 with the Buffalo Bills vs. the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

After improving the talent on the roster by acquiring Haason Reddick, Kyzir White, Nakobe Dean, Jordan Davis, and A.J. Brown, the immediate future looks bright and Philadelphia is expected to improve on the 9-8 record from 2021.

An advantage stems from it being Year 2 of the new 17-game schedule, with NFC teams receiving the extra home game, meaning the Eagles will have nine games at Lincoln Financial Field this season.

With the matchups locked in, here are five early, bold predictions for the 2022 slate of games.

Dolphins fans decide on Week 6 matchup vs. Vikings for Fan Club Weekend

Fans will come from all over to celebrate their fandem.

Now that the 2022 NFL schedule has been released, out-of-state Miami Dolphins fans can proceed with travel plans, accommodations, PTO requests and long weekends in South Florida.

One of the more enjoyable aspects of football for any fan is planning which matchups they’re heading to, but specifically in the Dolphins community, Fan Club Weekend has always been a highlighted game.

Last season, prior to the game against the Houston Texans in Week 9, Dolphins fans from all over Florida and the world flocked to several gatherings, including a memorable night at Bokampers Sports Bar & Grill, and, of course, the victory the next day.

It’s a weekend where names and faces are brought together from social media interactions, and even podcasting co-hosts met for the first time. 2021’s weekend was an absolute hit, and it just so happened to be the start of a seven-game win streak on the field for the Dolphins.

The weekend was so successful that it led to a week-long stay for many Dolphins fanatics, as five days later, another win came in the form of demolition of the Baltimore Ravens.

As for 2022, Week 6 is the one to circle for fans. This game sees the Minnesota Vikings coming to Miami following a two-game road trip that includes a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals and a trip to their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets.

It will be a welcome homecoming following a tough opening slate of games and similarly to last year, there is a national, primetime game following Fan Club Weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers come to town for a Week 7 Sunday Night Football game with the Dolphins.

Like last year, two straight home games, one being in prime time could be a spark much like last season was. The only hope is that this year’s version of the Dolphins avoids a start like 2021, which saw a seven-game losing streak after the season opener.

Game action aside, fan weekend is one that many die-hard Fin fans take a lot of pride and excitement in. 2020 Dolphin Fan of the Year Ian Berger, also known as “Big E” is a mainstay at any home game, and he had fond memories of past weekends.

“My favorite part of Fan Club Weekend is meeting up with other Dolphins fans from around the world the night before the game,” Berger said. “Last season we met at Bokampers and there were hundreds of Fins fans in attendance. Getting a chance to meet other passionate Fin fans is always a great time!”

Miami’s fanbase is loaded with super fans like Berger and Allie Goodman, also known as, “Dolphreaky.” She shares “Big E’s” excitement.

“Fan Club Weekend is always the best weekend of the season,” Goodman shared. “Fans from all over the world come out to party hard and celebrate our shared love of the Dolphins!”

You never know what will happen when this fanbase comes together to celebrate aqua and orange.

“There’s so much going on,” Goodman said. “Last year I hosted a tailgate wedding!”

While Goodman and Berger are Floridians, many fans like “Big Mike,” as he’s known on Twitter, are out-of-staters, so that comes with a bit longer of a commute to the stadium, but it’s not a worry for Dolphins die-hards.

“You have fans from all over coming down for this event, and it’s a wild, well-worth-it weekend,” Big Mike stated.

The Vikings will come to Hard Rock Stadium on October 16 for a 1:00 p.m. ET game, along with fan groups from all over the globe. With excitement at, arguably, an all-time high, expect many Dolphins faithful to flock to Florida for Fan Club Weekend.

Chiefs among four NFL teams with three consecutive road games in 2022

The #Chiefs are one of just four NFL teams to play three consecutive road games in 2022.

There are a lot of interesting quirks of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2022 NFL schedule.

One of those quirks is that Kansas City is one of just four teams to play three consecutive road games at any point during the 2022 NFL season. First noted by NFL Network’s schedule reveal team — the Chiefs, Packers, Dolphins and Eagles will all play three consecutive road games at one point during the 2022 NFL season.

These three games come in the back half of the season for Kansas City, beginning on Week 13 when they travel to Cincinnati to face the Bengals. The following week the Chiefs will travel to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday night. They’ll finish the three-game road stretch in Houston for a tilt with the Texans, perhaps the easiest of the three road games.

Unfortunately, the Chiefs don’t really benefit from playing three consecutive road games here. You’d expect this would mean a lenient home stretch at some other point of the season. Kansas City never has more than two consecutive home games at a time, though.

Really, the only good news to take away from this is the recent history of teams who’ve played three straight games on the road. According to NFL Network, since 2018, teams who have played three consecutive road games have a 22-11 record during that three-game span.

The Chiefs also have a winning record while playing on the road recently. In 2020, Kansas City was perfect on the road, finishing the year with an 8-0 road record. In 2021, they finished the year with a 5-3 record on the road, losing to the Ravens, Titans and Bengals at their respective home stadiums.

If the Chiefs can come away with a winning record after road games in Cincinnati, Denver and Houston, they should be in pretty good shape to close out the 2022 NFL season on a high note.
