WATCH: Terry Joseph, Texas coaching staff were elated to see Terrance Brooks flip to Texas

To say that defensive passing game coordinator Terry Joseph was excited would be an understatement.

The early signing period has started off hot for Texas, as the Longhorns are in the process of bringing home a historically good class.

One of the biggest gets for Texas thus far was a bit unexpected. Although Steve Sarkisian’s staff has been continuously making efforts to try and flip Ohio State commit Terrance Brooks, it wasn’t until Wednesday that we learned that Brooks was committing to Texas.

Brooks is a five-star cornerback out of Little Elm, Texas, that the staff pushed extremely hard for considering defensive back is a major need on this roster. He is rated the No. 8 cornerback in the country and the No. 10 overall prospect in the state, according to 247Sports composite.

To say that defensive passing game coordinator Terry Joseph was excited would be an understatement, as he sprung up in joy and high-fived everyone in sight.

Texas currently owns the No. 5 class in the nation in 247Sports’ 2022 class rankings.

Texas receives crystal ball prediction for former commit Jaylon Guilbeau

Texas received a crystal ball prediction for four-star CB, former commit Jaylon Guilbeau.

Texas has been riding a wave of momentum on the recruiting trail as of late, and they may have some more good news coming their way.

After being the first commitment of Texas’ 2022 class, four-star cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau felt it was in his best interest to decommit from Texas to re-evaluate his options. Outside of the Longhorns, the primary players in his recruitment appeared to be TCU and Texas A&M.

Texas defensive passing game coordinator and secondary coach Terry Joseph is listed as Guilbeau’s primary recruiter. It appears to be going well as the Longhorns recently received a crystal ball prediction from Nick Harris.

This would be quite the comeback for the Longhorns in his recruiting cycle, as the day after he decommitted from Texas, there were multiple crystal ball’s entered in favor of Gary Patterson and TCU.

Texas currently hold the No. 3 class in the nation according to 247Sports, and Guilbeau will strengthen the rating immensely as he would be one of Texas’ highest rated commits in the class.

The Longhorns could use depth at the position after this season, as they are likely to lose three cornerbacks in D’Shawn Jamison, Joshua Thompson, and Darrion Dunn.

Oklahoma makes top 10 for another Denton Ryan product

Denton Ryan’s Austin Jordan of the 2022 recruiting cycle has released his top 10 schools. The Oklahoma Sooners are among three Big 12 teams.

The Oklahoma Sooners had some luck in getting 2021 athlete Billy Bowman out of Denton Ryan to flip. They did miss out on Bear Alexander, but another 2022 defender might be getting closer to coming to Norman. Austin Jordan recently released his top 10 schools. Joining Oklahoma from the Big 12 Conference is the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma State Cowboys. As usual, Texas A&M will also be in the running for a top defender from the Lone Star State.

According to 247Sports composite rankings, Jordan is a top 20 player at his position, top 30 in the state, and No. 167 overall. While they did make the list for his top 10, no official commitment date has been set for the talented cornerback that played alongside Bowman as they won the 5A state championship in the 2020 season.
