Ohio State football 2021 pro day reflections

We take a moment to reflect on Ohio State’s 2021 pro day. What were some of the measurements, who had a big day, and who needed to do more?

The Ohio State football team held its pro day on Tuesday in front of a plethora of NFL scouts and coaches — and some other recognizable onlookers. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NFL scouting combine was canceled and pro days around the country have become an even larger staple for the evaluation process.

Ohio State had a total 14 prospects take part in all of the festivities, and if you are interested in seeing the results, Jim Nagy has done a great job of compiling the official results and tweeting them out to the world. Nagy is the Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the results thread starts below.

We also wanted to highlight one stud and one OSU player that needed to do more from what we saw on Wednesday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. It’s important to remember that a pro day is not the end all be all of a team’s evaluation.

Twitter reacts to Justin Fields’ pro day workout

Ohio State QB Justin Fields had quite a day at the Buckeyes’ pro day. Afterward, Twitter was ablaze with reaction and analysis.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Ohio State quarterback doing his thing on a football field, but we were reminded that he’s got all kinds of freakish physical abilities today.

The Buckeyes held their NFL pro day today and Fields may have been a part of fourteen OSU players working out in front of NFL scouts and executives, but there’s no questioning he was the main story. And he didn’t disappoint.

Fields showed touch, poise, arm strength, and a varied arsenal with his ability to spin the ball in front of the cameras, suits, and khakis. He astonished almost everyone with his drop of the mic 65-yard off-balance heave to end things.

During and after his workout, Twitter was ablaze we’ve got some of the best moments on the social media platform to share with you.

WATCH: Justin Fields throws ridiculous off-balance bomb on target across his body

Ohio State QB Justin Fields was tossing bombs all day at Ohio State’s pro day. Watch the crazy 65-yard across his body dime to end things.

Today was Ohio State football’s pro day, and if you are into these types of things, it was a hoot to watch. We saw some guys show off some pretty amazing feats of athletic endeavors, and that includes one Mr. Justin Fields.

Since the season ended, many experts and analysts have overanalyzed and scrutinized a lot of things about Fields’ game. From his decision-making, the reading of progressions, and arm strength, the criticism has been non-stop. And look, when you are expected to go in the first round as the face of a franchise, it just comes with the territory.

Fields pushed back on some of those comments with his performance at Ohio State’s pro day today. Perhaps no other throw drew more praise and wonderment than the last throw of the day he made. The former Heisman finalist rolled to his left, squared his body up, and threw off-balance nearly 65 yards in the air, right in the breadbasket of the receiver for a drop the mic moment.

If you haven’t seen it, it’s pretty amazing and rivals the throw that seemed to break the internet that BYU’s Zach Wilson made during his pro day workout. It’s worth a look and re-look several times and we’re bringing it to you thanks to video shared by the NFL Twitter account.

Yikes. We don’t blame you if you pull this up and play it on repeat. Some human beings are just made different. This is strength, skill, and athleticism all rolled into one.

WATCH: Justin Fields runs blazing fast 40-yard dash at Ohio State pro day

Quarterback Justin Fields put another lighting fast 40-time on tape during Tuesday’s pro day at Ohio State.

In case you missed it, Ohio State held its pro day today and quarterback Justin Fields was the headliner going through the paces of putting on a show for NFL scouts and executives.

One of those moments came when Fields got down in a starting crouch and exploded down the field in a timed 40-yard dash for all in attendance to wow at. The OSU QB would probably tell you that he should have run faster, but dropping a 4.4 on everyone as a quarterback isn’t too shabby. In fact, that time is the best since Robert Griffin III ran a 4.41 at the 2021 NFL combine.

Fields has already reportedly broken into the 4.3s but it wasn’t on cameras or for any NFL types to see. However, no matter how you look at it, a quarterback his size moving that fast is extremely impressive.

You can get a look at his 40-yard dash by visiting the below Twitter link shared originally by NFL Brasil.

By all accounts and measures (at least the unbiased ones), Fields’ workout Tuesday was extremely impressive and should only boost his NFL draft stock. Now, we wait and see what all the buzz turns into.
