Justin Fields’ odds to win Heisman get a boost

Updated odds so far, have Justin Fields at the top of the Heisman odds with Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence falls after his positive COVID test.

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields Heisman odds, according to several sites, have increased. When news broke about Trevor Lawrence’s positive COVID-19 test, his odds dropped. After the games on Saturday, Lawrence dropped even further according to some sites. Another missed game next week against Notre Dame will probably not help his case either. We wait to see what BetMGM‘s new odds will be, but we are starting to get a picture of potential changes.

Taking over in first place is actually a tie between Justin Fields and Mac Jones on some sites, but on others, Jones is slightly ahead of Fields. As long as Fields keeps performing at the level he has the first two games he should stay up near the top. Fields is throwing at an astounding 87.3% completion rate, 594 yards, and 6 touchdowns, which is vaulting him to the top of the boards. Below the top three is BYU quarterback Zach Wilson, Alabama receiver DeVonta Smith, and Florida quarterback Kyle Trask, but they are seen as long-shots at this point.

Justin Fields has been on absolute fire through the first two games and has immediately cemented his case to be at the top of the Heisman boards. As the season goes along the odds will continue to change, but as long as Fields keeps on this pace, he will easily be one of the top contenders all the way to the ceremony on December 12th.

Justin Fields favorite to win Heisman according to Lindy’s

Ohio State QB Justin Fields should have one whale of a season if college football takes off. Lindy’s believes he’ll win the Heisman Trophy.

We are getting ever so closer to the start of the college football season — or so we hope. As the days of the calendar flip by, some of the preseason college football magazines and publications are now in full swing, and that includes the annual Lindy’s Preseason College Football Preview.

We’ve already dissected the magazine’s preseason top 25 and where Ohio State fell in its opinion, and now it’s time to touch on where Lindy’s sees the Heisman race going.

And on that note, you’ll probably not be surprised that Justin Fields is right there as one of the heavy favorites. In fact, he is one of the top two, right there with Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

So where does Lindy’s have Fields? Is he the odds on favorite, or is he just a wee-bit behind Lawrence like most other opinion-makers think?

Next … What Lindy’s says about Fields and the Heisman

USA TODAY names Ohio State QB Justin Fields as Heisman co-favorite for 2020

According to USA TODAY, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is the co-favorite to win the Heisman Trophy in 2020.

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is back for another run at things in 2020. As a true junior, he’ll return behind a seasoned and talented offensive line, and skill position players that will give him plenty of options on the outside. Not only that, but he should be fully healthy after a leg injury made him less than 100 percent towards the tail-end of the year in 2019.

Simply put, he should be one of the most exciting and productive players to watch in college football next season. That’s all one year after already earning a trip to New York as a Heisman Finalist.

With all that’s going for him, maybe he can go to the Big Apple and actually win the whole thing next year.

In fact, according to USA TODAY, it sees Fields as the co-favorite for the bronze statue in 2020, along with Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Here’s what Paul Myerberg says about the OSU quarterback’s chances looking ahead.

The preseason Heisman field will have Lawrence and Fields — or Fields and Lawrence, depending on how you feel — and then a wide gap of space. Look for Fields to be even better as a second-year starter with the Buckeyes in 2020, though he’ll have less help in the backfield with running back J.K. Dobbins headed to the NFL along with several key receivers departed.

We’ve seen a lot of hype for players in the past that didn’t meet them, but with Fields in Ryan Day’s offense again in 2020, there’s good reason to think he’ll be right there again.

Justin Fields favorite to win Heisman in 2020 according to FanDuel

FanDuel has installed Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields as the early favorite to win the Heisman Trophy in 2020.

By all accounts and measures, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields surpassed the expectations of a new starter in Columbus. Just when you thought the next Buckeye quarterback couldn’t come close to what Dwayne Haskins did in 2018, Fields elbowed his way to New York as a Heisman Finalist.

We all knew at that point it was nothing more than an all-expenses paid trip to watch LSU quarterback Joe Burrow win the bronze statue, but it was still an experience for him and fellow OSU star Chase Young.

It may have also set him up for 2020.

In fact, according to the Sportsbook Fan Duel, Fields is your odds on favorite to win the Heisman Trophy in 2020 at +175. Right behind him is Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence at +430. Past those top two are Nebraska’s Adrian Martinez and Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler at +1200, followed by transfer-to-be D’Eriq King, and Wake Forest quarterback Jamie Newman, both with odds of +1600.

There are multiple media outlets predicting success for the Ohio State football team in 2020, and if it ultimately breaks down some of those thoughts, Fields will have a lot to do with it.

Justin Fields VERY early Heisman favorite for 2020

According to the online betting website SportsLine ,Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is the early favorite to win the 2020 Heisman.

Not that these things always pan out (Trevor Lawrence anyone), but we’ve got the very, very early odds on the favorites for the Heisman Trophy in 2020. Of course it didn’t take long. These online betting sites like to roll thes things out there as soon as they can to get the buzz going.

But hey, Buckeye fans will love who’s on top.

According to SportsLine, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is the early favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at this time next year. Behind him is Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, and Auburn quarterback Bo Nix.

If your interested beyond that, below includes the top nine according to the online betting site.

Justin Fields as the favorite definitely makes sense. He’ll have had another year of seasoning in an offensive system tailored to his skill-set, and with key departures, the coaching staff might need to rely on him a bit more with both his arm and running ability.

We’ll check in on these odds routinely, but for now, it’s all just fun to talk about. I mean, who had Joe Burrow winning the thing at the beginning of this year?
