After the game a giant brawl broke out between the two teams, including both coaches and players from both sides. Watch here.

Tensions were high in Fort Worth, Texas, in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl that featured Mississippi State versus No. 24 Tulsa.

After the Bulldogs from Starkville secured the 28-26 win, a giant brawl broke out between the two teams, including both coaches and players from both sides.

It’s hard to tell what started the fight for sure, but this next video shows an undressed Mississippi State player punching a Tulsa player, which looks to have sparked the brawl.

Here’s what Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach said following the fight.

Leach said, “There was some before the game too, we’ve never had any problem with that the entire season.”

South Carolina quarterback Ryan Hilinski enters transfer portal

South Carolina sophomore quarterback Ryan Hilinski announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he has entered the transfer portal. Details here.

South Carolina sophomore quarterback Ryan Hilinski announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he has entered the transfer portal.

The Orange, California, native was the No. 2 rated quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class.

Hilinski played the final 11 games of the Gamecocks 2019 season as a freshman, throwing for 2,357 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.

In 2020, senior Luke Hill and freshman Luke Doty saw the majority of the snaps.

Hilinski thanked the South Carolina family in his post.

“Thank you for giving my family and I a home when we didn’t know where home was. Thank you for the roars in Williams-Brice Stadium. Thank you for the smiles, hugs, handshakes and warm greetings. I will forever be grateful for this state and the life I found after losing my brother.”

Kirby Smart says who should win Heisman Trophy

On All Things Covered with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden, Georgia coach Kirby Smart said who should win the 2021 Heisman Trophy.

During an interview on All Things Covered with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden, Georgia coach Kirby Smart said who he thinks should win the heralded 2021 Heisman Trophy.

The finalist are Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, Florida quarterback Kyle Trask and Alabama receiver DeVonta Smith.

“I usually wouldn’t answer that, Smart said. “But you know I’m not gonna be politically correct and I’m gonna say who I think the best player is, and everybody will know why I think he’s the best player, because of what he’s done against Georgia, DeVonta Smith.”

“This is a young man that I had in camp when he was in the eighth and ninth grade and I was at Alabama. Where he weighed like 125. He was so small in eighth and ninth grade, and he was so talented. By the time he got to be, maybe a junior or senior, he was like 155. At one time he was actually committed to Georgia, and not many people remember that; decommitted to Georgia and ends up going to Alabama, you know, won the national championship on the last play the game against us, and then played a phenomenal game against us this year. We had two good corners, draped all over them, you couldn’t ask them to cover him any better. He comes out of breaks better than anybody I’ve ever seen. He catches the ball going back to the quarterback. And to me, he’s the best player in college football.”

We usually don’t hear coaches, especially on another team, endorse a player for Heisman consideration, but Smart’s comments about DeVonta Smith shows just how dominant the senior has been this season.

Smith has caught 98 passes for 1,511 yards and 17 touchdowns with a punt return touchdown in 2020.

For reference, Desmond Howard’s Heisman-winning season as a wide receiver in 1991, Howard caught 61 passes for 960 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding 162 yards on the ground and two scores, as well as a score on a punt return and kickoff return.

I do not always agree with Smart, but I believe he is right in calling for Smith to win the Heisman this year. The award has become quarterback-focused and less about the most deserving player in college football. Let’s change that this year.

The virtual Heisman ceremony is scheduled to air on Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

UGA great David Pollack compares opting-out to quitting

Georgia football legend David Pollack gave his thoughts on a player’s decision to opt-out of a game in a response to a question via Twitter.

No. 9 Georgia has experienced some of its players opting-out of the bowl game like many programs have across the country.

The list includes junior defensive back Eric Stokes, senior linebacker Monty Rice, senior defensive back D.J. Daniel, senior guard Ben Cleveland and senior tight end Tre Mckitty.

Former Bulldog, Georgia legend David Pollack gave his thoughts on a player’s decision to opt-out of a game in a response to a question via Twitter.

Pollack played linbacker at Georgia from 2001-2004 and was named first-team All-America three times and SEC Player of the Year twice.

As good as Pollack was, he played in a different era of college football. Today, guys have the opportunity, via mock drafts and connections between the Georgia coaching staff and the NFL, to more accurately project their NFL worth and possible draft positions.

And with the risk of injury, some players, especially highly-projected picks, are inclined to skip a bowl game to prepare for the draft.

Not saying that Pollack is completely wrong here, but a player making an informed decision that is best for their respective future is not quitting.

Kirby Smart talks Tua Tagovailoa’s game-winning play in the 2018 National Championship

Georgia coach Kirby Smart remembers the play that sealed Alabama’s win in an interview featured on All Things Covered with Bryant McFadden.

DawgNation remembers the 2018 National Championship game for what could have been.

Georgia held a 13-0 lead at halftime, but Alabama freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa replaced Jalen Hurts at the break and went on to lead the Crimson Tide to a comeback victory on a touchdown throw in overtime.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart remembers the play that sealed Alabama’s win in an interview featured on All Things Covered with Bryant McFadden.

“It was a shock. “What got us is I’d heard all year from friends in Tuscaloosa that they liked the younger quarterback better than Jalen. I kept hearing that. I would hear that, now of course I didn’t think we’re gonna play them, we weren’t scheduled to play them. I thought well if we make the SEC championship, we’ll play Alabama. And then it played out where we played Auburn.”

Hurts had started every game for Alabama dating back to his freshman season in 2016 when he was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

“And I’d heard all this stuff about, you know, the younger quarterback can throw the ball better. He can do more stuff, but he was only getting to play mop up time. They didn’t have many games that they got forced to do in (the national title game), I knew at halftime I said, ‘Guys they may have to make a change here because they’re struggling, they’re not scoring.’ People forget that he came in and actually threw a pick on a strange play, like a busted play. The receiver was blocking downfield and DeAndre Baker picks off a pass. Tua threw to him, receiver must get the wrong call he thought was a sprint-out run, and he throws a pick and I’m like, ‘Man, this guy’s struggling a little bit.’ We sacked him a couple times, had him confused, and the next thing you know, he starts throwing dimes.”

Only fitting that the Dawgs faced to future NFL starters. Hurts is now starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and 2020 No. 5 overall pick Tagovailoa leads the Miami Dolphins.

The No. 9 Bulldogs haven’t seen the field since they beat Missouri 49-14 on Dec. 12. The final game of the season versus Vanderbilt was cancelled due to positive COVID-19 testing within the Commodores program.

The Bearcats are coming off of a 27-24 win over No. 24 Tulsa in the AAC Championship and travel to Atlanta boasting a top-10 defense.

The question is for Georgia, what Bulldogs will see the field?

Some players have decided to opt-out of the bowl game and declare for the 2021 NFL draft, while a few are battling injuries that could keep them off of the field on Friday.

What Cincinnati media is saying about Georgia ahead of Peach Bowl matchup

No. 9 Georgia (7-2) is set to face No. 8 Cincinnati (9-0) in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl at noon on New Year’s day.

The Bulldogs, including a hot Georgia offense and the No. 1 rush defense, take the field for the first time since a 49-14 win at Missouri on Dec. 12.

The last game of the season versus Vanderbilt that was scheduled for the following week was cancelled due to positive COVID-19 testing within the Commodores program.

On the other side, AAC champion Cincinnati rolls into Atlanta with a top-10 defense, undefeated and ready to prove why it deserved playoff consideration.

Here’s what Cincinnati media is saying about Georgia ahead of Friday’s game.

Georgia Bulldogs: A look at the Cincinnati Bearcats’ opponent in the Peach Bowl

By Charlie GoldsmithCincinnati Enquirer

The Bulldogs were a top-5 team for most of the season, but they enter the Peach Bowl at No. 9 in the College Football Playoff rankings. This year, Georgia has beaten two teams that were ranked at the time of the game, Tennessee and Auburn. But none of the Bulldogs’ wins this season came against teams that are currently ranked in the top 25.”

Peach Bowl 2020: Updated Odds and Preview for Cincinnati vs. Georgia

By Joe Tansey – Bleacher Report

“Georgia was likely overvalued in the playoff rankings, and its ninth-place rankings finish is not indicative of the season it had. The Bulldogs got better once J.T. Daniels stepped in at quarterback, but by that time of the season, they were beating the weaker programs in the SEC. With Daniels at the helm of the Georgia offense, Cincinnati’s top-rated defense will have a chance to shut down a highly-rated quarterback.”

Desmond Ridder explains challenge Georgia presents in Peach Bowl

By Jaylon Thompson – Bearcat Journal

“Georgia has one of the best defenses in the SEC. The defensive unit finished second in the conference in total defense. The Bulldogs also have a good pass defense that ranked sixth in the SEC. Opposing quarterbacks just had 13 passing touchdowns against the unit this season.”
