Texas will travel to Ames in Week 10 to face Iowa State.
This will be the 19th meeting between the two programs, where Texas leads the overall series 14-4. However, Iowa State has bested the Longhorns recently by winning the last two matchups.
In regards to this season, both programs have been surprisingly underwhelming. Inconsistency in the passing game has hindered each side at times.
The Longhorns are currently riding a three-game losing streak and are in danger of falling below .500 on the season. Can Steve Sarkisian’s squad manage to get back in the win column this week?
For the third time this season, Texas enters the contest as the underdog. Tipico Sportsbook gives the edge to Iowa State by 6.5 points.

I haven’t had the best of luck with these predictions recently. Right when you feel like Texas has their backs against the wall and could pull out a big win, they fall flat on their face again.
There isn’t much for the Longhorns to play for right now other than a decent bowl game. Traveling to Ames is a tough task in itself, and the Cyclones are home to one of the top defensive units (No. 5) in the country.
While I do expect Bijan Robinson to get back on track here, my confidence level in quarterback Casey Thompson has diminished. The passing game has been brutally inconsistent. Texas won’t have the chance to blow a double-digit lead in this one, but I do think they keep it fairly close.

Texas looks more and more like a broken team, I’m not sure what the movie of the week was this week, but I hope for the sake of Longhorns fans it works.
Iowa State has one of the best defenses in the nation, especially their run defense, which does not bode well for Casey Thompson and this receiver group who couldn’t get the job done last week against Baylor.
The Cyclones are a solid team that has not performed to the level many thought the would, but they are the Texas’ worst nightmare. A team with a good defense that can stop the run, and also have a talented running back of their own in Breece Hall that will expose Pete Kwiatkowski’s defense.
Can Texas build a double-digit lead and blow it for the fourth straight game? I think yes.

Night games in Ames are a tall task for any team. Especially one on a three-game losing skid. If Texas wants to get some positive momentum going down the stretch, a road upset would go a long way.
Like Baylor last week, Iowa State’s style of play is not a good matchup for Texas on paper. Star running back Breece Hall will have no issue getting going against a very subpar Texas run defense. Hall started the season slowly but has hit his stride going for over 100 yards in five of his last six games.
The Cyclones are second in the conference against the run, holding opponents to just three yards per carry. Stopping the run has been the formula to slowing the Texas offense. Iowa State will attempt to take Bijan Robinson out of the game and will challenge Casey Thompson to beat them through the air.
I think Robinson and Worthy keep the game close for a while but ultimately Iowa State will breakaway in the fourth to win comfortably.
