Sixers player grades: Joel Embiid, starters struggle in loss to Celtics

Joel Embiid and the starting unit struggle as the Philadelphia 76ers fall to the Boston Celtics on the road.

After a less than inspiring win over the Orlando Magic at home, the Philadelphia 76ers hit the road to take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday to begin a 4-game road trip. The hope is that the team can find their rhythm again on the road to get back on track.

The starters got off to an especially tough start and the bench unit gave the team a big spark, but it wasn’t enough as Philadelphia dropped this one 88-87 to the Celtics in a defensive slugfest as Georges Niang had his 3-pointer blocked at the buzzer. Joel Embiid had a rough night as he only had 13 points on 3-for-17 shooting and 17 rebounds with five assists and Tobias Harris struggled a bit with eight points on 4-for-11 shooting and six rebounds.

Shake Milton had 16 and Niang had 12 off the bench, Seth Curry had 17 points and six assists, and Tyrese Maxey had six points on 3-for-13 shooting and six rebounds.

Here are the player grades from a tough night up in Boston:
