Rookie players are taking over the NBA G League in 2019-20

Among the top scorers in the G League this season, five players in the top 10 are first-year players.

Tremont Waters, Boston Celtics

Waters was named the G League Player of the Month after some stellar play.

The second-round pick averaged 22.3 points, 7.7 assists, three rebounds and 1.7 steals in six November games for the Maine Red Claws while he shot 47.8% from the field, including 42.9% from 3-point range.

He recorded a career-high 33 points on Nov. 27 against the Greensboro Swarm and has posted back-to-back double-double performances for the first time this season.

Waters even made his first appearance with the Celtics on Nov. 25 off of the bench. He recorded seven points, three assists and two rebounds in that game as he proved to be capable of contributing at the NBA level.
