Report card: Bills outlast Steelers, 17-10

The Bills are playoff bound after their victory of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was a victory where the Bills relied on their stout defense.

Defensive line: B+

The Bills pass rush was furious and tenacious throughout the entire night, which resulted in four sacks on rookie quarterback Duck Hodges. The four sacks came from Trent Murphy, Shaq Lawson, and two came from Jordan Phillips.

The defensive line also helped stop the returning running back, James Conner. Conner had just 42 yards, while he displayed some excellent quickness and ability to make defenders miss, he never got the momentum rolling with the ball, although the Steelers did bail on the rushing attack plans early

The defensive line forced a turnover as well, in the second quarter the Steelers were running the wild cat offensive with James Conner. Conner was at the mesh point of the read option, but Trent Murphy punched the ball out of his hands and Jordan Poyer fell on it.
