Report card: Bills fall 24-17 vs. Patriots

The Bills had their first chance to win the AFC East in 20 years on Saturday, but couldn’t seal the deal in New England.

Offensive line: C-

The Bills offensive line had an up and down game, where at times they gave Allen time to throw the ball and other times Allen had to throw the ball away immediately or take one of his four sacks. The unit was also out-muscled in the run game, not creating rushing lanes for Devin Singletary.

The thing most will remember from this one is the Bills’ final drive. While attempting to score the game-tying points, Buffalo’s offensive line was completely out-worked. Cody Ford was beaten on third-down for an easy sack, then the entire line was blown away with an all-out blitz by the Patriots on fourth down. Allen threw up a prayer that had no hope.

It needs to be mentioned that Dion Dawkins caught his second career touchdown at the end of the first half. That gave the Bills some momentum going into the second half, but momentum they couldn’t capitalize on.
