Player grades: Joel Embiid leads Sixers past Luka Doncic, Mavericks

Joel Embiid has himself a big night to lead the Philadelphia 76ers past the Dallas Mavericks at home on Friday.

PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers returned home to host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday to begin a 3-game homestand looking to build momentum going forward. They entered the night just 19-15 at home so this was an opportunity to build something at home and get on track at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Mavericks, led by superstar Luka Doncic, gave the Sixers all they could handle early as they were getting contributions from Jalen Brunson and others in order to take an early lead, but the Sixers were able to get it together and come away with a 111-101 victory over the Mavs. The Sixers held Doncic to 5-for-20 shooting and 2-for-10 from deep for his 17 points.

Joel Embiid had himself another big night as he had 32 points and eight rebounds to lead the way for the Sixers, James Harden had 24, seven rebounds, and 13 assists, Tobias Harris had 14, Tyrese Maxey added eight, and Matisse Thybulle chipped in with 10 points and two steals.
