Ohio State defensive back Jaylen Johnson enters transfer portal

The transfer portal is open and Ohio State has lost a former three-star prospect.

The transfer portal recently opened for players who may need a fresh start or just looking for greener pastures. Some have ascertained that upwards of 300 players have already entered the portal looking for a new team.

Ohio State now has its first confirmed portal entry in former 2021 three-star safety, Jaylen Johnson. Johnson is a red-shirt freshman with three years of eligibility remaining for his new team. Coming to the Buckeyes out of Cincinnati La Salle, Johnson was the No. 20 safety prospect in the country and the No. 12 player in the state of Ohio.

Unfortunately, Johnson had to deal with an ACL tear before his freshman season leading to the red-shirt year. Johnson came back healthy this year but did not see any playing time with the Buckeyes.

Johnson was buried behind a plethora of talent at safety in the OSU secondary. Even though you hate to see something of this nature this close to playing in the College Football Playoff, this seems to be a case of a young man just looking for an opportunity to play. With so many names already in the portal, time is of the essence. Good luck in finding the right fit.

Ohio State now prepares to take on No. 1 Georgia in the CFP semi-final on December 31 in Atlanta, Georgia.
