Longhorns Wire Roundtable: Top five returners on offense in 2020

The Longhorns Wire writers discuss their top five returners on offense in the latest roundtable discussion.

Patrick:

  1. Sam Ehlinger QB– The team captain returns to the field in 2020 after flirting with the NFL when requesting information from the NFL Advisory Board. Ehlinger will lead the team into 2020 in hopes of finally putting Texas back on the map with a run at the Big 12 Championship.
  2. Samuel Cosmi OT– The blindside tackle is arguably the second most important position in football behind the quarterback. Cosmi returning to Texas helps the team and will help Ehlinger stay upright in 2020.
  3. Keaontay Ingram RB– Ingram returns as the leading rusher from a season ago. Ingram likely splits time in the backfield with Roschon Johnson and newcomer Bijan Robinson but likely will see a majority of the snaps. Texas likes to run the football so he comes in as the third ranked returner in 2020.

  4. Jake Smith WR– Smith returns after a breakout freshman season that saw him finish fourth on the team in receiving yards and tied for second in touchdowns. Longhorns are looking to replace the production they lost with Devin Duvernay making the jump to the NFL.
  5. Brennan Eagles WR– Much like Smith, Eagles returns to take the pressure off other receivers as they look to replace Collin Johnson’s production. Eagles finished third in receiving yards and tied for second in touchdowns with Smith.
