Longhorns Wire Roundtable: Top five returners on offense in 2020

The Longhorns Wire writers discuss their top five returners on offense in the latest roundtable discussion.

Griffin:

  1. Sam Ehlinger – QB – Ehlinger may be the most important returning player in the conference, let alone this Longhorn team. The offense will go as far as he takes them, hopefully towards a Big 12 Championship.
  2. Samuel Cosmi – LT – Arguably the most important position in football, Texas has one of the best coming back next season. Being a redshirt junior next season, Cosmi will be the leader of the offensive line that will be protecting the most valuable asset on the offense.
  3. Jordan Whittington – WR – While he may have only played one game last season, Whittington will be a key factor for the offense next season. He may be listed as a WR, but he will be used in many different ways, creating matchup nightmares for Big 12 defenses.

  4. Keaontay Ingram – RB – The conference’s seventh-leading rusher is back and hoping to have an injury-free season. Even with Roschon Johnson and Bijan Robinson behind him at the position, Ingram will be the main rusher next season.
  5. Jake Smith – WR – The former Gatorade National Player of the Year Jake Smith is waiting to explode. With star receivers Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson gone, it is his time to shine. More than likely used in the slot, watch for Smith to have a breakout season.
