Haskell Garrett makes decision on Ohio State future

Ohio State defensive tackle Haskell Garrett announced his plans for the NFL draft Tuesday. Get excited.

The deadline for underclassmen came and went with some surprises yesterday. Chris Olave coming back for his senior year and Tommy Togiai declaring for the draft were both completely unexpected.

Now, with the NCAA granting all players an extra year of eligibility due to a COVID plagued 2020 season, all eyes turned to the seniors who have until March 1 to make their NFL intentions known. And for Ohio State, none is bigger than the big man in the middle, Haskell Garrett.

Today Garrett shared his decision on his future via Twitter. Buckeye fans rejoice as the heart and soul of the OSU defense will be returning to Columbus for one more run!

Watch Garrett’s statement in his own words below.

Garrett has come a long way since the beginning of 2020 (it seems so long ago). First, he was shot in the mouth trying to break up a fight and wasn’t even sure if he’d even be able to take the field this year. Then he played lights out and was named an All-Big Ten selection, although he was vastly underrated as a third-team pick. Ultimately, Garrett was recognized for his play being named a first-team All-American by CBS Sports.

This is a huge win for the Buckeyes and we’re excited to see Garrett play one more year in scarlet and gray.
