Four-star offensive tackle calls Texas his ‘dream school’

Offensive tackle Kelvin Banks recently chose to decommit from Oklahoma State, expresses serious interest in Texas.

Offensive tackle Kelvin Banks is one of the most highly sought-after prospects out of the 2022 recruiting class.

He was recently graded a four-star prospect and the No. 3 overall offensive tackle in the class. According to 247Sports, he’s also a top 25 player in the nation.

The Humble, Texas native recently chose to decommit from Oklahoma State. Prior to the change of heart, Banks contacted Texas to let him know that he’s again interested in joining their program.

“Texas is a good environment and the coaches have great energy. I really like the way they coach and the way they treat their players. They treated me just like family and it felt like home. I had a chance ot talk to coach Herman face-to-face, and the place is just awesome.”

Now that it appears the Longhorns are likely to lose out on the Brockermeyer twins to Alabama, Banks would be a significant and much needed addition to Herb Hand’s offensive line unit. In 2019, he was a first-team selection at offensive tackle as a sophomore.

Banks has visited the University of Texas twice throughout his recruiting cycle thus far, it’s clear the staff and players have made a lasting impression on the 6-4, 285-pound athlete.
