Surprise, surprise. Another highly rated offensive weapon wants to go play for Lincoln Riley in Norman. On the 247Sports composite, Wheaton is a five-star and the top-ranked running back in the country.
Also a track star, Wheaton’s speed is what makes him a special prospect. Once in the open field, he will break away from defenders and rarely be caught. Once he gains a little more weight, he could become the prototypical star running back out of Oklahoma.
Tom Herman has admitted they want to take two running backs in this year’s recruiting class. Three-star Jonathon Brooks recently committed to Texas, securing one of the spots. If Texas wants to fill the second with a blue-chip recruit, they will need to look elsewhere.
