ESPN predicts Tommy Brockermeyer will commit to Texas

ESPN.com has predicted when everything is said and done, Tommy Brockermeyer will be committed to Texas along with his brother James.

Even during the uncertainty of COVID-19, college football recruiting has not slowed down. The Longhorns has remained hot on the trail for top recruits across the country, but mainly in the state of Texas.

Texas has long been a favorite for offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer out of Fort Worth. Going along with his younger brother James, the Brockermeyer brothers are expected to commit to the same school.

According to ESPN’s recruiting rankings, Tommy is the second overall player in the 2021 class, while James is the top-ranked center in the country.

Tom VanHareen of ESPN.com has predicted when everything is said and done, Tommy will be committed to the University of Texas along with his brother.

Here is what he had to say about the recruitment:

Brockermeyer has a top five of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, LSU and Texas as of now. He has a ton of ties to Texas, as his father and grandfather both played for the Longhorns, and a few other family members attended the university as well.

The No. 1-ranked tackle in this class also has a twin brother, James, who is an ESPN 300 prospect, and the two have said they would like to go to college together. Texas is the natural guess for both of them, but Alabama and Clemson are very much in the picture. Brockermeyer has said it’s almost more difficult to go through the recruiting process with a twin brother because they’re trying to find the right fit for two people rather than one.

Their recruitments might be affected by the restrictions caused by the coronavirus, so it might still be a little early in predicting. It does seem as though Texas, Alabama and Clemson have the best shot.

Prediction: Texas

If the Brockermeyer brothers were to commit, they would be the second and third offensive linemen in the 2021 class. Offensive tackle Hayden Connor has been committed to Texas since July 23, 2019.

With Alabama and Clemson making pushes for the brothers, Tom Herman and his staff must lockdown these commitments as soon as possible. Having the two offensive linemen to protect the heir to Sam Ehlinger will be a crucial piece of the offense succeeding in 2021 and on.
