While he’s been wildly successful across multiple forms of media, he’s mostly an albatross when it comes to the sports world. Drizzy’s fandom paid off in 2019 when his beloved Toronto Raptors won an NBA title, but his bandwagon attachment has been a harbinger of doom for the teams and athletes to whom he sidles up for selfies.
Kentucky basketball, Conor McGregor, Anthony Joshua, the Toronto Maple Leafs. All have fallen victim to the Drake Curse.
Now the Los Angeles Rams and Odell Beckham Jr. have fallen into his crosshairs. The actor-turned-rapper-turned-iconoclast has thrown his support behind Matthew Stafford’s team. He’s got $600,000 CAD riding on a Rams win and $500k CAD on both OBJ OVER 62.5 receiving yards and to score an anytime touchdown. If all three bets hit, they’ll pay out nearly $2.9 million in Canadian dollars.

Drake’s presence is an interesting counterbalance to sports betting’s other preeminent loser. Texas furniture magnate Mattress Mack has torn up every one of his big money tickets over the last six months. In hopes of getting back on track, he’s already thrown down more than $4 million on the Cincinnati Bengals. One of these guys has to win.
Of course, Drake might not actually be wagering anything. He’s got the name of his preferred sportsbook prominently featured on all three slips, giving the whole post an extremely “sponsored content” vibe. Would Stake give the celebrity seven figures in free bets just for a single post? Seeing as Drake has 102 MILLION FOLLOWERS OH MY GOD … yeah, probably.
So Drake is betting on the Rams and Odell Beckham Jr., but it may or may not be an actual bet. The only way we’ll know for sure if he’s truly jumped on the LA bandwagon is if they disintegrate under the bright lights like so many other Drake fandoms in the past.
