Every move the Ravens have made so far this offseason

With the 2024 NFL Draft fast approaching, we’re looking at every move the Baltimore Ravens have made this off-season

The Ravens will look drastically different on both sides of the football field after undergoing massive changes in player personnel and the coaching staff.

Baltimore signed Justin Madubuike, one of the league’s best defensive linemen, to an extension. After inking Madubuike to a deal, Baltimore landed Derrick Henry for two years and $16 million.

However, the Ravens suffered significant free-agent losses.

Patrick Queen (Steelers), Geno Stone (Bengals), and Gus Edwards (Chargers) were among eight free agents to sign elsewhere. Baltimore also traded Morgan Moses to the Jets and released Tyus Bowser in a cost-cutting move.

With the NFL draft fast approaching, we’re reviewing every move Baltimore made this off-season.

The Rams should consider a reunion with Odell Beckham Jr.

With a pass-happy NFL, the demand for receivers is at an all time high. Here’s why the Rams should reunite with Odell Beckham Jr.

As the Rams round out their roster, there’s still a bunch of high-quality free agents available for the team to supplement their roster with. One of those players is the ever-entertaining Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham, one of the most athletic and gifted football players I’ve ever watched play the game, has been the subject of subsequent debate on Twitter about whether the All-Pro pass catcher’s fame is the result of a significant career or the product of a single iconic moment, forever shared throughout NFL history. The man known as OBJ shot to national attention via his one-handed touchdown grab against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football during his rookie year almost 10 years ago.

Beckham, however, has a resume to back up the claim that he was among the league’s best. Five 1,000-yard seasons and 59 touchdowns displayed OBJ’s abilities but injuries have slowed the star receiver over the years.

He did see a resurgence in his career once he signed with the Rams in 2021. Spending only half a year in Los Angeles, Beckham helped the team win Super Bowl LVI with his five touchdowns in seven regular-season starts.

Beckham did not disappoint in the playoffs either. Starting in all four of the Rams’ postseason victories, Beckham caught the Rams’ first touchdown of the 2021 playoffs in a victorious effort against the Cardinals 34-11.

Beckham then came up huge on what was a game tying drive by the Rams in the NFC championship game. His two catches set up a Matt Gay field goal to tie the game at 17. The Rams would defeat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17.

And in the biggest game of the year, Beckham started hot. He was on pace for Super Bowl MVP, hauling in two catches for 52 yards and the game’s opening touchdown. Beckham would then tear his ACL in the second quarter in the Rams’ title victory.

Beckham spent last year with the Ravens and it was clear that he wasn’t the player that we once knew. However, he did show an ability to get open, secure catches and find the holes in zone coverages – things that play into the Sean McVay offense.

OBJ will not be an expensive singing nor a player that needs to play every snap. He’s at the stage of his career where he is a rotational guy who has the ability to be plugged in during the game’s biggest moments and perform. It’s a relationship that worked once and perhaps OBJ is the final key in the Rams’ offensive retool.

After being released by the Baltimore Ravens, Odell Beckham Jr. is set for a free agent visit with the Miami Dolphins

The Ravens released Odell Beckham on Sunday night, and he is set to make his first free-agent visit.

Beckham Jr. could flourish playing opposite Garrett Wilson, while catching passes from Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.

Report: Ravens likely won’t re-sign WR Odell Beckham Jr.

With an urgent offseason underway for the Ravens, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. likely won’t be in those plans.

Baltimore faces an offseason of change after Mike Macdonald bolted for the Seahawks job.

Anthony Weaver landed the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator job, and 29 players are set to be free agents, headlined by Patrick Queen and Justin Madubuike.

The Ravens are 19th in the NFL in salary cap space, with $16.6 million available, and there will be critical decisions regarding several vital contributors and two All-Pros. And they’re spending about $120 million-plus on the offensive side of the football.

With an urgent offseason underway, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. likely won’t be in those plans.

Michael Thomas’ contract with the Saints is set to void, making him a free agent. A few scouts pointed out Baltimore as a good fit. The Ravens likely won’t re-sign Odell Beckham Jr., and they value established veterans at the receiver position. But a reunion with former New Orleans coach Sean Payton in Denver also makes sense. “When he’s out there and healthy, he affects the game,” an NFC scout said.

In his one season with the Ravens, Beckham appeared in 14 of the 17 regular-season games, logging 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

Beckham hasn’t recorded a 1,000-yard season since 2019, but he vibed well with the Baltimore skill players and had a tight relationship with WR Zay Flowers.

However, he should move on unless he’s prepared to return at a significant discount.

One possibility is the New York Jets. Beckham could flourish playing opposite Garrett Wilson while catching passes from Aaron Rodgers.

Ravens have big decisions to make in WR room for 2024

The Ravens have big decisions to make in their wide receiver room for 2024

The Baltimore Ravens revamped their wide receiver room throughout the 2023 offseason, bringing players like Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers to pair with Rashod Bateman and others. The room flourished in some aspects but saw struggles in others.

“I don’t know. I love the guys we have coming back. I think ‘Bate’ [Rashod Bateman] is going to have a great season, and we have Zay [Flowers]. We’ll talk to guys and look at potentially bringing guys back, but I feel really good about where we are. We also saw the emergence of Isaiah Likely this year, and we know, of course, what Mark can do this year – Mark Andrews. We have a lot of guys that can make plays and, watching Zay this year and just picturing Zay and ‘Bate’ out there next year is very exciting, and we’ll see where that leads. We’ve also got the Draft, and like I said, we’ll have conversations with our free agents, as well, and we’ve already started those conversations in some cases. So, I would expect the reciever room to be very strong next year and very productive.”

Baltimore has several tough decisions to make on their wideouts in 2024, including whether to pick up Bateman’s fifth-year option. Head coach John Harbaugh said he didn’t know what was in store for the decision on Bateman but showed his confidence in him and the rest of the team’s young pass catchers.

Ravens owe $8.3M in dead money after voiding four contracts

The Baltimore Ravens now owe $8.3 million in dead money after voiding four contracts and having those players enter Free Agency

With the Super Bowl in the rearview mirror, the Ravens and 31 other NFL teams will start financially retooling to advance to the 2024-25 postseason.

Joel Corry of CBS Sports recently looked inside at key offseason dates starting with the first week of the 2024 league year, which begins March 13.

Some dates will free up cap space for Baltimore, while others will force GM Eric DeCosta to make hard decisions.

Baltimore had a 4:00 PM EST deadline to extend six players to face dead salary cap hits, and only Nelson Agholor agreed to a new deal.

At 4 p.m. Monday, the contracts of four pending free agents — right guard Kevin Zeitler, running back Gus Edwards, safety Geno Stone and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin — will void.

Void years are a way for teams to manipulate the salary cap by placing fake years on the end of a contract to defer cap charges to the future.

Odell Beckham Jr.’s one-year, $15 million contract was recently reworked to remove void years. That allows the Ravens to designate Beckham as a post-June 1 release if an extension is not reached by March 16.

Baltimore will now carry nearly $10 million in dead money on their 2024 salary cap since none of those five players were re-signed.
