Former Texas wide receiver Collin Johnson was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2020 NFL Draft, but it sure sounds like he’s going to miss playing with quarterback Sam Ehlinger.
Johnson recently joined SiriusXM Big 12 Radio to discuss what it was like to play alongside Ehlinger at Texas. There were no shortage of praises for the Longhorns senior quarterback, as Johnson described him as the ultimate competitor.

Johnson reiterated that Ehlinger is a true leader that commands the huddles, whether he’s three years younger than you or not. He leads by example and expects the best out of each player on the field.
“He’s a great guy to go to war with because you know he’s going to give you everything he’s got on the field.”
Ehlinger caught wind of the brief interview on Twitter, expressing that Johnson would always be family to him. It appears that each player and coach that is fortunate to work alongside Ehlinger commonly view him as a fierce, determined competitor that won’t back down from any challenge.
Texas is lucky to have a leader with such high character on and off the field.
