Louisville (2-0) vs Pitt (1-1) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Louisville Will Win

The Cardinals might have lost to Miami, but the passing game still works.

They blew past the 300-yard mark through the air in the first two games, with Malik Cunningham getting off to a great start, and they’re about to give Pitt a battle.

The Panthers haven’t had any problems so far in easy wins over Austin Peay and Syracuse, but now the secondary is going to get pressured with the quick-hitting Cardinal attack.

The offensive line hasn’t been bad so far in pass protection, and it should be able to be just good enough to keep Cunningham from being under constant attack.

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

Why Pitt Will Win

Kenny Pickett has been fantastic so far.

The Panther quarterback only threw 13 touchdown passes and nine picks last year, but he hit 70% of his passes with three scores and an interception in the first two games. Now he’s about to roll against a Cardinal secondary coming off a rough day against Miami – D’Eriq King threw for 325 yards and three scores.

And then there’s the pass rush.

Yes, Louisville was able to hold up a bit against the Hurricanes, but the Panthers have the defensive front that should be among the nation’s best for a second straight year. It hammered Syracuse for seven sacks – the Orange line is awful – and it’ll at least do enough to be a bother.

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

What’s Going To Happen

Pitt will finally get a battle.

Louisville will throw well – Tutu Atwell hit Miami for 114 yards and two touchdown catches last week – but it can’t be -3 in turnover margin again, and it’ll be close.

Pitt will rely more on the running game and the defense than Pickett, and it’ll control the time of possession enough to keep Cunningham on the sidelines for close to 35 minutes.

Boston College (1-0) vs Texas State (1-2) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Texas State Will Win

The Bobcats have an aggressive defensive line that might not be fantastic, but it’s active. It’s the offense, though, that’s becoming a bigger factor and is finally starting to work.

They’ve been balanced, the passing game has been effective, and there’s just enough of a ground attack to keep them from being one-dimensional. QB Tyler Vitt has been terrific since taking over the job following the opener, hitting 66% of his passes with six touchdowns and two picks, and he’ll have to get hot early because …

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

Why Boston College Will Win

He’s going to be under pressure all game long. The Texas State offensive line hasn’t been bad for the ground attack, but it’s allowing way too many big pops on the quarterback.

The Boston College defensive front didn’t do too much to get to the quarterback in the win over Duke, but it did enough to become a bother. It’s Phil Jurkovec, though, who’s going to be the team’s difference-maker.

The Notre Dame transfer threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns in his debut, and there shouldn’t be a problem bombing away on a Texas State secondary that allows over 300 yards per game through the air.

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

What’s Going To Happen

Boston College was terrific against Duke to give new head coach Jeff Hafley his first win. Not everything was perfect – the O line struggled in pass protection, and Texas State will get behind the line – but David Bailey and the ground game will start to get going to give Jurkovec a bit of a break.

UAB (1-1) vs South Alabama (1-1) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why UAB Will Win

UAB’s offensive line was terrific in pass protection against Miami – for the most part, considering who it was going against – and it needs to get physical in a hurry.

The South Alabama defensive front held up well for just over six quarters, but Tulane kept on battling on the ground, and things started to break through on the way to over 200 rushing yards. Star RB Spencer Brown has to take over the game right away because …

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

Why South Alabama Will Win

UAB starting QB Tyler Johnston is out with a shoulder injury, and redshirt freshman Bryson Lucero is coming off a 4-of-12 day against Miami.

On the other side, can South Alabama get its running game going? It hasn’t been anything special so far, and it failed to do much in the loss to Tulane, but UAB’s defensive front got ripped to shreds in the 31-14 loss to Miami a few weeks ago.

It’ll be too easy, though, for the Jaguars to move the ball through this air, with  the combination of Kawaan Baker and Jalen Tolbert good enough to push a UAB secondary that isn’t giving up a whole lot deep so far, but hasn’t been stretched yet.

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

What’s Going To Happen

Once again, South Alabama will be pesky.

The lines have been solid so far, and the passing game will be good enough to balance out what should be a good day on the ground. However, the UAB defensive line is about to eat.

Tulane had a whole slew of problems against USA, but it lived behind the line enough to slow things down. The Blazer offense won’t be anything special, but the D will lock down in the final ten minutes to survive.

Texas A&M (0-0) vs Vanderbilt (0-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Vanderbilt Will Win

The defense is going to be a whole lot better after a year of breaking in several new starters.

At the very least, it’s going to be very, very experienced with the top 11 tacklers returning and 26 of the top 28 back in the mix. There’s size, depth, and enough options to keep a good rotation going in the secondary to match up with the good group of Aggie receivers.

A&M is still going to want to control the clock, run things at its own pace, and handle the tempo that suits its style. It’s not going to go 100 miles per hour, and it’s going to suit the Vandy way of playing just fine. But …

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

Why Texas A&M Will Win

The Vanderbilt offense that only scored 198 points all of last year and struggled to get to 14 points isn’t going to come out blazing.

There are a few issues on the A&M offensive side – at least when it comes to depth – but the defense has the upside to be fantastic. The pass rush has to be a bit better, but the linebackers are terrific and the big – literally large and tall – defensive backs shouldn’t have too much of an issue with the Commodore receivers.

Vandy is all but starting over on O, which isn’t a bad thing considering the issues of 2019, but it’s going to take a while and a few tune-ups that the team won’t get.

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

What’s Going To Happen

A&M will come out sharp. It’ll get up early, settle in, and won’t have too many issues in a comfortable win.

The Vanderbilt defense is good enough to keep this from getting completely out of hand, and the offense will come up with a few fourth quarter scores after the issue has been well decided.

Tennessee (0-0) vs South Carolina (0-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Tennessee Will Win

The offensive line is going to be fantastic no matter how it all works out for Georgia transfer Cade Mays, who’s still waiting for the SEC to clear him after the NCAA said it was all cool.

The starting five around all-star guard Trey Smith should be able to blast away on a South Carolina defensive front that loses most of last year’s stars, but has the young talent to eventually be fantastic. For Game One, though, Tennessee should be able to own the ground game and control the tempo.

The Vol defensive backs are good enough to keep the Gamecock passing game and new starting quarterback Collin Hill in check, but …

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

Why South Carolina Will Win

The Tennessee pass rush is going to be questionable early on, and the linebacking corps around Henry To’o To’o should need a game or two to be terrific.

The South Carolina offensive front could use a little time to get it all together.

The Gamecock secondary has the potential to be a force if the line can do its job and get into the backfield on a regular basis, and the linebacking corps will be a sneaky-good part of the whole puzzle.

Don’t expect this to be the game that the Vol offense takes off, and …

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

What’s Going To Happen

Hill is going to be good enough.

He threw a few too many interceptions at Colorado State, but he’s got the deep ball ability to stretch out the Tennessee defense just enough to add more pop to the attack.

It’s not going to be the 2019 LSU Tiger attack, but South Carolina’s passing game will work, and the Tennessee offense will stall just enough for the home team to come out with a good start.

It’ll be USC’s first SEC home-opener win since beating Vanderbilt in 2013.

Auburn (0-0) vs Kentucky (0-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Kentucky Will Win

Kentucky has the offensive front to control the game and give the revamped Wildcats a chance to keep its style going.

With QB Terry Wilson back, the offense can switch back from the style of run first, run only with Lynn Bowden at the helm. It’ll all rumble behind a line that gets back four starters and has a whole lot of depth, and the defensive front should be even stronger.

Control the tempo, let the lines take over, and drag the opponent down and slow everything to a crawl. Kentucky should be able to do that.

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

Why Auburn Will Win

Can the Tigers open it up a little more?

Bo Nix should know what he’s doing in his second season as the starter, Seth Williams is one of the best receivers in college football, Anthony Schwartz is among the fastest, and Eli Stove will be as good a No. 3 as any in the SEC.

Kentucky has a good secondary, and it has enough offensive parts to be good, but the Tigers can take over the game right away with a few scores. AU has the linebacking corps to keep UK from doing what UK (normally) does.

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

What’s Going To Happen

Kentucky is going to be a problem.

Auburn will pull this off with Nix coming through on two fourth quarter scoring drives, but it’s going to take a whole lot of sweating to get there with the Wildcats showing up strong on both sides of the ball.

Expect a low-scoring grind, but it’ll be entertaining.

Florida (0-0) vs Ole Miss (0-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Florida Will Win

Here comes the Florida passing game.

The Ole Miss defense isn’t going to be all that bad, and the pass rush that was so great last season should continue to be excellent, but the secondary gave up an SEC-worst 278 yards per game last season and now has a few tweaks to make.

What helps get a team over the opening game issues? Normally, it’s a veteran quarterback who doesn’t make a whole lot of mistakes, and that’s Kyle Trask. He’s got the receiving corps around him to spread things out and keep the offense moving, even though the Gators will want to hammer away with the ground game early on.

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

Why Ole Miss Will Win

Gert ready for the offense to get moving with a passing game to go along with the running element that was so dangerous in the former style under ex-offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez.

Lane Kiffin is bringing in former UCF OC Jeff Lebby to run the attack, and the receivers are there to make it work. Elijah Moore is an SEC No. 1 target, and the transfers coming in add a whole lot of depth.

On the other side, the pass rush should be excellent again, even with a whole slew of key parts gone, but …

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

What’s Going To Happen

The Florida secondary will be on display.

With a defense good enough to be among the best in the SEC, the Gators should be able to take over early on and handle the Ole Miss attack, but it’ll be the talent at defensive back that makes the difference.

LSU (0-0) vs Mississippi State (0-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why LSU Will Win

This offense should still work.

It might be missing just about all of the superstars from last year’s epic team, but QB Myles Brennan is a good talent, the receiving corps is loaded with upside, and the offensive line will be excellent.

The next men up are very, very good against a defense that loses five of its top seven tacklers.

But against the Mississippi State passing game that’s about to crank up, the Tigers have the defensive backs to hold their own. Mike Leach’s O will put up big numbers, but CB Derek Stingley and S JaCoby Stevens form a good start to one of the nation’s top secondaries.

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

Why Mississippi State Will Win

There’s defensive experience overall, and the parts filling in for the lost producers might just be better. As long as the passing game and the offense do what they’re expected to, the defense just has to hold serve once in a while. As good as LSU’s offense should be, it might take a wee bit to get there.

And then there’s the reason you called – the Leach offense. Get ready for KJ Costello.

Leach hasn’t 100% fully and totally committed to who his starting quarterback will be – he might switch this up at the final moment – but the passing game is going to keep the pressure on from the start.

Assume 300 passing yards from the Bulldogs, but …

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

What’s Going To Happen

Few teams in America could’ve used a tune-up game against a Central North Cupcake State more than these two.

How will the timing be on the Mississippi State O? It might rely on Kylin Hill and the running attack more than you might think, but the parts will be there to throw a scare into the Tigers for a half.

This is still an incredibly loaded LSU team, and over the long haul of the game, it’ll wear down the Bulldogs enough to get out with a good win in a fun game.

Give this one to the LSU lines.

Georgia (0-0) vs Arkansas (0-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Georgia Will Win

It doesn’t matter who the starting quarterback is, or if there’s some sort of a rotation between JT Daniels, D’Wan Mathis and Stetson Bennett, the receivers are in place for new OC Todd Monken to make the whole thing go.

Arkansas might have a nice young group of defensive backs for new DC Barry Odom to work with, but there won’t be enough of a pass rush, and the offense is going to start pushing it deep a bit more than last year.

The running game will own the game early, though. There won’t be a whole lot of fancy things happening on the road, with the goal to be a good balance, few mistakes, and a reliance on a defense that should come up with a whole lot of three-and-outs.

Week 4 Expert Picks: College Football

Why Arkansas Will Win

Will the Kendal Briles offense work? New head coach Sam Pittman wants to speed up the offense and bring a whole lot of pace, but that was the case under the previous regime, and it didn’t work. These Hogs have the parts, starting with Florida transfer QB Feleipe Franks and a passing game that should be a whole lot more dangerous than it’s been in a long, long time.

Rakeem Boyd might be the best running back in the game, the Hogs are loaded with wide receiver experience, and at home under a new coaching staff, there’s going to be a whole lot of fun trying to get it all going.

The Hogs are expected to go winless this season. Let’s just say there’s a chip on this team’s shoulder.

Week 3 Expert Picks: NFL

What’s Going To Happen

The Arkansas system might be dangerous, and there might be experience and good parts in place, but the problem with the sped up attack is that when it doesn’t work, it gets the O off the field in a hurry – and that was the problem last year, too.

The Georgia offense won’t be slow-and-go, but it’ll be deliberate enough to control the clock and the pace of the game to be in control throughout.
