Marshawn Lynch scored a TD and the crowd in Seattle went nuts… and threw Skittles

Beast Mode is back.

Marshawn Lynch lit up the football world earlier this week when he signed a deal to return to the Seattle Seahawks, after virtually all of their running backs went down with injuries.

Well, Beast Mode hasn’t disappointed in his first game back, which is a huge one with the San Francisco 49ers, as the winner is crowned the NFC West champs.

Lynch hasn’t broken out for any big runs but in the fourth quarter he dove over a huge pile of big humans to score a touchdown.

CenturyLink Field went into hysterics, as NBC’s Cris Collinsworth was left in awe by the noise he heard when Lynch scored:

Listen to the crowd from this angle:

Lynch broke out a handshake celebration:

And Skittles rained down on the field:

Yup, it’s good to have Beast Mode back.

Watch Steelers vs. Ravens Live Online.

The Steelers (8-7) square-off against the Ravens (12-3), their AFC North rival, with their playoff hopes on the line. Baltimore won the first matchup of the season  in a 26-23 overtime thriller at Heinz Field back in Week 5 despite three interceptions from quarterback Lamar Jackson. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has said that he will rest Jackson and a handful of other starters for Sunday’s contest which bodes well for Pittsburgh.

After back-to-back losses to the Bills and Jets, the road to the postseason became more difficult for the Steelers. Mason Rudolph started the contest and completed 14 of 20 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown, but left the game early with a shoulder injury. Devlin Hodges came on in relief and tossed two interceptions. Running back James Conner was held to 32 yards on the ground and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster had just two catches for 22 yards. The Steelers lack of offense (30th in total yards) has been a problem all year long. If they are able to defeat the Ravens on Sunday afternoon, coupled with a Titans loss to the Texans, Pittsburgh will be the sixth seed and play in a Wild Card game.

While Pittsburgh is fighting for its playoff life, Baltimore is resting easy as the No. 1 seed in the division and has a first-round bye. The Ravens beat the Browns 31-15 behind another spectacular performance from Lamar Jackson. Jackson totaled 238 yards and three touchdowns through the air and 103 yards on the ground. As a team, the Ravens had nearly 250 yards rushing. Mark Andrews led the team in receiving with six catches for 93 yards and two scores. Another former Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III will get the start for Baltimore, his first since Week 17 in 2016 when he was a member of the Browns.

Five-time pro-bowler Marshawn Lynch signed with the Seattle Seahawks for $60,588 for Week 17 as they’re set to battle their NFC West rival, the San Francisco 49ers.

The Oakland native will also receive his playoff share plus whatever money he makes in new endorsement opportunities, such as with his “Unfinished Business” apparel.

Number 24 has always been a 12th man and NFL favorite throughout his career whether it’s his love for Skittles or his witty responses to the media.

The Seahawks have been decimated by injuries at the running back position, with Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, and CJ Prosise all out for the season.

Will Lynch return as the running back who averages 4.3 yards per game or will father time turn Beast Mode into Feast Mode for the defense?

The Seahawks have a chance to claim home-field advantage for the N-F-C playoffs with a win and losses by New Orleans and Green Bay.

WATCH: Joel Embiid says shutdown of Giannis shows he should be Defensive Player of the Year

Joel Embiid told Yahoo Sports, “The whole season I’ve been humble, but I want to be Defensive Player of the Year, and I feel like tonight showed it.”

Joel Embiid is ready to speak it into existence.

The 25-year-old was the star on Christmas Day as the 76ers (23-10) limited reigning NBA Giannis Antetokounmpo and took down the Eastern Conference-leading Bucks (27-5).

Embiid told Yahoo Sports postgame, “The whole season I’ve been humble, but I want to be Defensive Player of the Year, and I feel like tonight showed it.”

Embiid was one of four 76ers to defend Antetokounmpo, who still put up 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. But the reigning MVP made just 8 of 27 shots from the floor and fell quite short of his average 31 points per game.

Embiid himself scored 31, showing up on offense and defense. He blocked a pair of shots in addition to grabbing nine defensive rebounds. Embiid’s performance served as a reminder despite his relatively reduced minutes and six games missed this season. According to CBS Sports, he added after the game “A lot of people have forgotten who I am.”

WATCH: LeBron James says collision with Clippers’ Beverly set him back five days with groin injury

LeBron James is back where he was a handful of days ago, in terms of a nagging groin injury, because of a collision with Clippers guard Patrick Beverley in Wednesday’s game.

LeBron James is back where he was a handful of days ago, in terms of a nagging groin injury, because of a collision with Clippers guard Patrick Beverley in Wednesday’s game.

James returned to the court on Christmas Day after missing a game for the first time this season Sunday. Following the Lakers’ 111-106 loss on the 25th, James said, “I felt healthy going into the game. I got kneed in the groin taking a charge from Pat Bev, and it kind of set me right back to where I was five days ago.”

The almost-35-year-old, James, is already listed as day-to-day by the team. He has been dealing with both a thoracic muscle strain (pulling around his rib cage) and a groin injury.

While James suffered a torn left groin last season which seriously impacted his and the Lakers’ season, this year it is his right groin giving him trouble. ESPN reports that this injury is not as severe as what James dealt with last time around.

LBJ played 39 minutes, despite re-aggravating the injury just a few plays after tipoff. He finished a rebound shy of a triple-double (23 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds) but missed 15 shots from the floor including 10 missed three-pointers, which is the most 3’s missed in a game in James’ 17-season NBA career.

What do sports betting lines mean?

A guide to translating the numbers and types of bets.

“Wait, why does this NFL team have a -235 next to its name? What’s with New England Patriots (-15) vs. Miami Dolphins (+15)? Help! HEEEELPPPP!”

If that sounds like you, we’re here to assist you. If you’ve stared at a board at a sportsbook or just seen spreads and moneylines on the Internet and been utterly confused, don’t worry. It’s not just you. Those numbers can be confounding.

But hopefully, once you’re done reading this, you’ll completely understand how they work. As you prepare to dive into the world of sports betting, here’s a breakdown of how the lines work, starting with …

Spreads

It would be really easy to bet on a game if you could put money on a heavy favorite to win.

That’s where point spreads come in. Let’s look at an example:

Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5)

New York Giants (+4.5)

In this case, you can bet on either two outcomes: you can put money on the Eagles to win the game by 4.5 points OR MORE, which makes them the favorites. Or you can bet that the Giants will either win or lose by LESS THAN 4.5 points. They’re the underdogs.

Now, sometimes the spread “moves” during the days leading up to the game. Perhaps the Eagles’ spread ends up being -3.5 (in which they must win by 3.5 points or more to give you a victory in your bet). Your bet all depends on whichever spread you bet on, whether it was when the Eagles were favored by 4.5 or 3.5 points.

If you ever see “PK” or “pick” next to a team, it means there’s no spread and you can bet on who will win, no matter what the score is.

Moneylines

Let’s take that same example above but use moneylines:

Philadelphia Eagles (-200)

New York Giants (+150)

The team with a minus symbol is the favorite, and the number is how much money you would need to bet to win $100. In this case, you would have to bet $200 on the Eagles in order to win an additional $100.

The Giants are the underdogs. If they’re +150, that means you could bet $100 to win $150.

Note that you can bet any amount you want, but those numbers are always calculated and posted the same way, either in how much money you would need to wager to win $100 or how much money you could win by wagering $100.

Odds

If you’re betting on something like the team who will win the Super Bowl in the future, you might see it look like this:

New England Patriots — 3/1

Baltimore Ravens — 5/1

Kansas City Chiefs — 8/1

If you were betting on the Patriots and their 3/1 odds, you would win $3 for every $1 you spend. So if you bet $50 on the Pats and they ended up winning the Super Bowl, you’d win $150 (plus your original wager) back.

Good luck!

WATCH: Jalen Ramsey sidelined with knee injury for Rams’ season finale

Jalen Ramsey won’t be taking the field Sunday for the Rams season finale against the Cardinals.

Jalen Ramsey won’t be taking the field Sunday for the Rams (8-7) season finale against the Cardinals (5-9-1).

Head coach Sean McVay said Tuesday that the cornerback has a grade II LCL strain.

Ramsey suffered the knee injury versus the 49ers (12-3) Saturday but played the entire game despite Los Angeles listing him as “Doubtful to return,” during the contest. Ramsey made 4 tackles in the game and intercepted Jimmy Garapolo, in addition to having two passes defended.

McVay said that despite holding Ramsey out of week 17, he doesn’t expect the 25-year-old to need surgery.

According to RamsWire, McVay explains the decision to keep the cornerback sidelined this way: “I think it’s, more than anything, just being smart. He came back in and it shows you how tough he is, what a great competitor. But when you are looking at something like this, you just want to be smart. Typically, it’s something that can take anywhere between a month, a month and a half. But it should heal on its own.”

The Rams traded for Ramsey in a blockbuster deal in October. He played in nine games once joining the team from the Jaguars (5-10) this season. He made 31 tackles with four passes defended in his eight starts after the midseason trade.

WATCH: Philadelphia Eagles place CB Ronald Darby on IR

The Eagles will visit the Giants without cornerback Ronald Darby.

The Eagles (8-was 7) will visit the Giants (4-11) without cornerback Ronald Darby.

The team announced Tuesday that it has placed the 25-year-old cornerback on injured reserve following a hip injury he suffered in Week 16.

The news is a surprise, in contrast, the Monday’s report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who tweeted that Darby did not need surgery and was on a recovery timeline of weeks, not months, with his hip strain.

Darby started in 11 games this season, reeling in two interceptions and breaking up 11 passes as part of a thin position group.

Philly plays for its third consecutive trip to the playoffs Sunday but will have to continue on without Darby.

WATCH: C.J. Anderson wasn’t happy with how Seahawks added Marshawn Lynch

NFL free agent C.J. Anderson is seemingly fed up with the politics of football after the Seattle Seahawks passed on him Monday.

NFL free agent C.J. Anderson is seemingly fed up with the politics of football after the Seattle Seahawks passed on him Monday.

The team was looking for two running backs to fill the spots left by Chris Carson and C.J. Procise, both of whom suffered season-ending injuries Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

Seattle worked out a handful of players — including Anderson — along with former Seahawks Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin. Seattle went with the two familiar faces, despite Anderson being the only player of the three to actually see the field this season.

He aired his frustrations on Twitter Monday night, saying he’s “done with ball.”

It’s unclear what happened on April 9, 2017, but Anderson checked in again Tuesday morning to say he’s back on track:
