Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Bills (8-3) travel to meet the New England Patriots (6-5) for Thursday Night Football in Week 13 at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Bills vs. Patriots odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Bills search for a 2nd consecutive Thursday victory after they hung on for a 28-25 win against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day. Buffalo has scored 23 or more points in 7 of its last 8 games.

The Under is 7-2 in the past 9 games overall for Buffalo, including 2-0 in the first 2 games against AFC East Division opponents.

The Patriots are coming off a 33-26 setback in Minnesota on Thanksgiving Night, snapping a 3-game win and cover streak. The Over cashed against the Vikings, snapping a 3-game Under run, too.

New England has posted 2 wins in 3 games against AFC East foes this season, while also going 2-1 ATS. The Under is 3-0 inside the division for the Pats, too.

Bills at Patriots picks and predictions

Prediction

Bills 23, Patriots 18

Moneyline

The Bills (-190) are just slightly over my personal money line limit for a singular play.

The Patriots (+160) are a tempting play due to their impressive defense that allows just 307.8 total yards per game (4th) and just 18.4 points per game (6th).

This is an especially tough game for the Pats, however, facing a Buffalo offense that has posted 415.9 total yards per game (2nd), 279.2 passing yards per game (3rd) and 28.1 PPG (2nd).

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

Play the BILLS -3.5 (-109) lightly, laying the 3 and a hook. Buffalo is just 1-3-1 ATS in its last 5 road games, but it’s 7-3-1 ATS in the past 11 games inside the AFC East.

Buffalo is also 3-0-1 ATS in the past 4 trips to Foxboro while going 5-2-1 ATS in the past 8 meetings overall. The road team is 19-7-2 ATS in the past 28 meetings in this series, too.

Over/Under

UNDER 43.5 (-110) is the play in this primetime matchup.

We’ll have temperatures around freezing and winds 9-12 mph, but nothing either of these northern teams can’t handle. In fact, each team might find the weather rather balmy.

However, the defenses are driving the train for this Under play. The Under is 6-0 in the past 6 road games for the Bills, while going 4-1 in their last 5 against teams with winning records. The Under is also 4-0 in the past 4 Thursday appearances for the Bills — including last week against the Lions.

The Patriots have hit the Under in 5 of the past 7 against AFC foes while going 4-1 to the Under in their past 5 games following a straight-up loss.

2022 World Cup: Germany vs. Costa Rica odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Germany vs. Costa Rica odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In a Group E stage match, Germany (0 win, 1 losses, 1 draw) and Costa Rica (1-1-0) meet Thursday at Al Bayt Stadium at 2 p.m. ET (FOX Sports 1/Telemundo). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Germany vs. Costa Rica odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Germany currently sits at the bottom of the Group E table, as it buried itself early with a stunning 2-1 loss to Japan in the opener. It bounced back with a solid result against favorite Spain, playing to a 1-1 draw.

While Germany cannot win the group, it can still advance with a victory over Costa Rica and a Spain victory over Japan.

Costa Rica was bludgeoned 7-0 against Spain, and no one would have blamed Los Ticos if it packed it in and struggled the next time out against Japan. But CRC has too much pride, and D Keysher Fuller bagged a goal at 81′ Sunday to propel his nation to a 1-0 win.

Costa Rica is very much alive for the Round of 16, but it needs at least a draw here coupled with a Spain win over Japan.

Prediction

Germany 2, Costa Rica 0

Moneyline (ML)

Germany (-1000) is going to get it done here, and it isn’t going to go away from this World Cup with a donut in the win column. But you cannot risk 10 times your potential return on a desperate team, especially against a Costa Rica side that is still has something to play for.

Playing COSTA RICA +3 (-111) is an outstanding choice in this Group E finale. Los Ticos will fall in this one, but it is playing for advancement, too, and it has players like Fuller and star GK Keylor Navas to make it a tough day for Die Mannschaft.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 3.5 (-105) might be the best play in this one. Germany hasn’t hit on all cylinders at any point during this World Cup, producing just 2 total goals in 2 matches.

The concern here is Costa Rica, as its back end was crushed for 7 by Spain in the World Cup opener. However, CRC also had a clean sheet against a good Japan side, so that should give Under bettors a little more confidence.

2022 World Cup: Japan vs. Spain odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Japan vs. Spain odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In a Group E stage match, Japan (1 win, 1 loss, 0 draws) and Spain (1-0-1) meet Thursday at Khalifa International Stadium at 2 p.m. ET (FOX/Universo). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Japan vs. Spain odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Japan heads into this one looking to rebound after a stunning 1-0 setback against Costa Rica Sunday. That loss splashed cold water on its 2-1 shocking upset of Germany in the opening match. F Ritsu Doan and F Takuma Asano scored in the opener and will need to step up their offense against La Roja.

Spain pounded Costa Rica 7-0 in the opener before settling for a 1-1 draw against Germany Sunday. The Spaniards are in good shape to advance to the Round of 16 thanks to an impressive +7 goal differential. Still, with a loss to Japan, and a Costa Rica win over Germany, it is still mathematically possible for Spain to be eliminated.

Prediction

Spain 2, Japan 1

Moneyline (ML)

A play on Spain (-260) will cost you more than 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s too much, even if the heavy favorites are likely to have their foot on the gas the whole way with elimination possible.

While that’s all well and good, JAPAN +2 (-140) is still playing to advance, too, and it is in really good shape to do so if it can get a result. Japan has plenty of world-class players to give Spain all it can handle.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 2.5 (-115) is the lean, as both sides will be going all out, with a lot of end-to-end action. That will be especially true in the second half, as these teams keep an eye on each other, and an eye on the scoreboard from the Costa Rica-Germany match.

Spain rolled up 7 goals against Costa Rica, the highest total in any match during the tournament. It won’t do that against Japan, but La Roja should be good for at least 2 in the back of the net. As long as Japan can show the talent which was on the display against Germany, it should avoid getting blanked.

Want to win your survivor pool? Who to take in Week 13

Breaking down the best strategies of how to win your NFL survivor pool as the season continues into Week 13.

[mm-video type=video id=01gk6z9jphwqz1gsyq33 playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01gk6z9jphwqz1gsyq33/01gk6z9jphwqz1gsyq33-abb83edc5a9897a03f1dc6241a2c053d.jpg]

We’re 12 weeks into the season and if you’re fortunate enough, you’re still alive in your NFL survivor pool.

As mentioned in the 1st survivor column of the season, these things are not easy.

We opened with back-to-back victories using the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos, but lost in Week 3 when the Los Angeles Chargers were upset at home by Jacksonville Jaguars 38-10. So much for the Chargers being 6.5-point favorites.

While the loss would have eliminated us from a survivor pool, our goal was to help you in picking winners. Plus, some survivor pools allow for 2 or 3 losses before elimination.

We bounced back with wins in Week 4 (Green Bay Packers) and Week 5 (Buffalo Bills), but then lost when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped a 20-18 stunner at the Pittsburgh Steelers as 10-point favorites in Week 6.

We’ve gone 4-2 since but currently are on a 3-game win streak. Hopefully, we can lead you in the right direction for a few more weeks and help you win bragging rights … and possibly some money.

– All games Sunday and ET unless noted

The chalk: Seattle Seahawks

Who they play: At Los Angeles Rams – 4:05 p.m. (FOX)

Seattle is coming off a 40-34 loss in overtime to the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday. An 86-yard TD by Raiders RB Josh Jacobs will do that. So will allowing 229 rushing yards to Jacobs.

Luckily, the Rams have no such running back. At this point, they actually don’t have much of anyone left.

With WRs Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson out, Los Angeles is counting on WRs Van Jefferson and Ben Skowronek. Plus, QB Matthew Stafford still has not cleared the concussion process and DE Aaron Donald has been ruled out for this Seattle game.

Los Angeles has nothing and is pretty much done for the season.

Seattle, on the other hand, still has a lot to play for. The Seahawks (6-5) are only 1 game behind the NFC-West leading San Francisco 49ers (7-4) and have a legitimate shot at a playoff berth. Heading into Week 13, they’re on the outside looking in, but they’re only ½ game out.

Seattle needs wins and this is one of its easiest games in which to get one.

With QB Geno Smith and WRs Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, the pass game is in great shape to take advantage of the Rams’ struggling secondary, including CB Jalen Ramsey, who has just 1 interception on the season — back in Week 2.

Seahawks rookie RB Kenneth Walker III (613 rushing yards with 9 TDs) is Tipico Sportsbook’s current favorite (-180) for Offensive Rookie of the Year. With Donald missing, Walker should have a field day against the Rams line.

This game shouldn’t be close — the Seahawks are 7.5-point favorites — and therefore SEATTLE is my FAVORITE SURVIVOR PICK for Week 13.

Off the board: Dallas Cowboys

Who they play: Home vs. Indianapolis Colts – 8:20 p.m. (NBC)

While Indy QB Matt Ryan (22 of 34 for 199 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) and RB Jonathan Taylor (86 rushing yards, 1 TD) looked OK Monday night in a 24-17 home loss to the Steelers. the rest of the team needs help.

The defense still has DL DeForest Buckner on the line, which will help against Dallas RBs and Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott in the run game. But without LB Shaquille Leonard (season-ending surgery), the pass defense will not be as effective, which will allow Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb and TE Dalton Schultz to run free and make plays for QB Dak Prescott.

On defense, I expect the Cowboys to give up yards to Taylor. This has been the weak part of the Dallas defense all season. But the pass rush with stud LB Micah Parsons will sack Ryan several times. Being pressured constantly, Ryan will not have enough time to find WRs Michael Pittman Jr, Parris Campbell and Alec Pierce.

This will force the Colts to be one dimensional. Taylor will run for more than 100 yards, but Dallas will do far more on offense and win this game after an extended rest since it last played Thanksgiving Day.

If you can’t take Seattle, TAKE DALLAS as your Week 13 survivor pick.

2022 World Cup: Croatia vs. Belgium odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Croatia vs. Belgium odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Croatia (1 win, 0 losses, 1 draw) battles Belgium (1-1-0) in both nations’ final Group F group stage match. Kickoff from Ahmad bin Ali Stadium is set for 10 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Croatia vs. Belgium odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Croatia drew Morocco 0-0 in their 1st match and destroyed Canada 4-1 Sunday. Croatia roared back after giving up a 2nd-minute goal and led 2-1 at the half. It ended with 10 shots on target and allowed just 2 on frame from Canada. Croatia is led by 37-year-old M Luka Modric, who captains the Group F leaders.

Belgium took down Canada 1-0 in their 1st match and then lost to Morocco 2-0, having the majority of possession in both games. Captained by Man City star M Kevin de Bruyne, Belgium will need a win (or a Morocco loss to Canada by 3 or more goals) to advance with Croatia and Morocco both with 4 points.

Prediction

Croatia 2, Belgium 1

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN CROATIA (+170).

As de Bruyne said earlier in the tournament, Belgium is just too old, and they looked that part against Morocco.

Even against Canada, Belgium had 13 fewer shots and just 54% of the possession. Canada was among the 1st 2 teams eliminated from the knockout stage, so that is far from an impressive look despite a 1-0 win.

Croatia proved they were more than their aging captain as well. Modric is the star, but M Mateo Kovacic, who plays for Chelsea, and F Andrej Kramaric, who plays in the Bundesliga for 1899 Hoffenheim, have had several impactful moments throughout the 1st 2 matches.

Belgium has won the possession battle and still lost. Against a team with a far better midfield than they’ve faced this tournament, expect Belgium to lag behind. Take Croatia (+170) as they still have something to play for.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (+110).

Croatia put up 4 goals on Canada. Modric has the talent to get players in a position to succeed.

While de Bruyne hasn’t translated what he can do into goals, they should come given that Belgium has 19 shots through 2 games and just 1 goal.

The Belgium defense has also been underwhelming, allowing 22 shots to Canada and 10 to a defensive-minded Morocco team. Croatia, who has the talent to finish, could abuse those flaws.

Prior to World Cup action, Belgium was 6-3 O/U this total through 9 matches in 2022. Considering that, and Croatia’s strength in the final 3rd, back the Over 2.5 (+110).

2022 World Cup: Canada vs. Morocco odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Canada vs. Morocco odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In their final Group F match, Canada (0 wins, 2 losses, 0 draws) and Morocco (1-1-0) play Thursday at Al Thumama Stadium. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Canada vs. Morocco odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

F Alphonso Davies scored Canada’s 1st-ever men’s national team goal at a World Cup before his side allowed 4 unanswered goals in a 4-1 loss to Croatia Sunday. Croatia’s offensive outburst helped the Over 2.5 (+100) hit before the 1st half had even ended.

Canada has been eliminated from qualifying for the Round of 16 after losing as a +265 underdog.

Morocco sits 2nd in Group F with 4 points after a 2-0 win vs. Belgium Sunday. M Abdelhamid Sabiri and F Zakaria Aboukhlal both scored for Morocco as it cashed as a +320 underdog.

Morocco’s odds to qualify are -1205 for ‘Yes’ and +550 for ‘No.’

Prediction

Canada 1, Morocco 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET DRAW (+245).

Despite being eliminated, Canada has a lot to play for since it is still looking for its 1st ever World Cup win. Canada looked helpless after blowing a 1-0 lead Sunday but should be able to stay competitive vs. a Morocco side that doesn’t boast the same offensive firepower as Croatia.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-130).

Morocco has scored a combined 2 goals at the World Cup this year while Canada has just 1. The Under is 2-0 in Morocco’s games this tournament and I expect it to hit for a 3rd consecutive match Thursday vs. a Canada squad that has been underwhelming offensively.

Houston Rockets at Denver Nuggets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Houston Rockets at Denver Nuggets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Houston Rockets (5-15) visit the Denver Nuggets (13-7) on Wednesday with tip-off from Ball Arena set for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Rockets vs. Nuggets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Rockets and Nuggets played each Monday in Denver with the Nuggets covering as 11.5 favorites in a 129-113 win. That game featured a lack of defense from both sides that was apparent to anyone who viewed, with neither team being able to consistently string together stops.

What helped the Nuggets win was their stars showing out, with C Nikola Jokic scoring 32 points with 12 rebounds and 8 assists, and G Jamaal Murray scoring 31 points with 4 from behind the arc.

The Rockets had 5 players score in double figures, including 4 starters, but with nobody topped 20 points and with their poor shooting percentages compared to the Nuggets, they had no chance of winning that game.

Rockets at Nuggets picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 119, Rockets 110

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Nuggets should win this game, but the moneyline here is not worth the risk. The line is a result of 1 team being clearly better coupled with the fact that when these teams met Monday night the Nuggets won by 16. The risk here is not worth the reward, avoid the moneyline for this game.

Against the spread

LEAN ROCKETS +11.5 (-110).

While the Nuggets did just beat this team 2 days ago by 16 points, I don’t thing they will be able to quite cover the spread in this game. The Rockets are a bad team, but they have a lot of youth and a lot of scoring potential. The Rocket’s won’t be able to contend with the completeness and the coaching of the Nuggets roster, but they will be able to score.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 229.5 (-105).

The Rockets have a bad offense and a bad defense, but what helps the under in this game is the Nuggets’ mediocrity on the defensive end. The majority of the defense on Denver comes from the backcourt, but the scoring from the Rockets comes from the front court mostly. The under here is safer based on team averages and the inconsistency from beyond the arc from both teams also helps me have confidence in this bet.

Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks & predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Grizzlies (12-8) visit the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves (10-11) on Wednesday with tip-off from Target Center set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Grizzlies vs. Timberwolves odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Grizzlies are on 2-game winning streak after Sunday’s 127-123 win vs. the New York Knicks as half-point underdog. In that win it was G Ja Morant’s 27 points, along with all 4 other starters scoring in double figures,  that carried the Grizzlies to that tough win in New York.

The Timberwolves are on a 3-game losing streak with their most recent loss  Monday a 142-127 blowout against the Washington Wizards, That loss continued a season-long trend of Minnesota’s inability to stop any big man. Allowing C Kristaps Porzingis to drop 41 points while shooting 12-of-18 from the floor is unacceptable for this team that traded so much for former DPOY C Rudy Gobert.

Grizzlies at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 121, Timberwolves 108

Moneyline

BET GRIZZLIES -140.

The Grizzlies are simply a better team than the Timberwolves, who have looked terrible to start the season. They will have no answer for Morant and his scoring ability and with the obvious chemistry issues for this team they will likely continue their streak of poor play.

Against the spread

LEAN GRIZZLIES -2.5 (-110).

Even with key injuries in this game the Grizzlies should be able to win. Many NBA fans are calling for the Timberwolves to trade key pieces due to the team’s underwhelming performance, and I expect that type of performance to continue. This team hasn’t looked good so far, with G D’Angelo Russell playing at his worst rate since his 2nd year in the league, and the front court playing terribly as well, expect the Grizzlies to win this game comfortably.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 231.5 (-105).

Neither of these teams are particularly great or terrible on either offense or defense, in fact both teams are close to the middle of the pack in both. Both teams have tremendous scoring potential, especially in their backcourts, but neither team has been able to score consistently. Based on averages alone the under is safer than the over, but it’s close. With the Grizzlies averaging 115.7 ppg and the Timberwolves averaging 114.6 these teams are averaging just under 231.5.

Michigan State at Notre Dame odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Michigan State at Notre Dame odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Michigan State Spartans (5-2) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-1) meet Wednesday in South Bend. Tip time at Purcell Pavilion will be at 9:15 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Michigan State vs. Notre Dame odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Michigan State snuck by Portland 78-77 in a Sunday game of the Phil Knight Invitational. The favored-by-6.5 Spartans were undone by 14 3-pointers in the win over the Pilots. The against-the-spread (ATS) loss marked MSU’s 3rd in its last 4 games.

The Fighting Irish last played Friday, dropping a 63-51 decision to St. Bonaventure. UND’s 51 points marked a season low.

The game is part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Michigan State and Notre Dame last met on Nov. 28, 2020, when the Spartans topped the Irish 80-70.

Michigan State at Notre Dame picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan State 70, Notre Dame 64

Moneyline

MSU is the superior defensive and rebounding team in this matchup. This game is a jump in class for the Irish, and the Notre Dame shooting numbers (56% effective field goal) are suspect and likely due some regression.

The Spartans’ performances the last few weeks, even in their loss to Alabama last Thursday, spell a team that can be pegged as a 60% proposition in this game. And that makes for value on Michigan State -125. But at the current prices, many bettors may not want to spend 15 cents for a point (vs. the -1.5 ATS action below). So PASS unless prices change.

Against the spread

The Fighting Irish are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games. Notre Dame figures to be in a fade spot here.

TAKE MICHIGAN STATE -1.5 (-115).

Over/Under

These teams player slow-tempo ball, and we can expected a game flow not overly infused with turnovers, 2nd-chance points, and free throws.

PLAY THE UNDER 139.5 (-105).
