Watch former MSU football WR Cody White make crazy play

Cody White made his impact felt for the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday

Former Michigan State football wide receiver Cody White went from setting records in East Lansing to trying to make his mark in the NFL. Undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, White was picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers. In two years with the Steelers, White caught 6 passes for 35 yards.

Since departing Pittsburgh, White spent last season on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad, not getting into game action. In 2024, after a remarkable preseason, White is getting his chance to make a mark.

While it wasn’t as a wide receiver, in the Seahawks game against the Los Angeles Rams, White blocked a punt, making a huge impact on the game.

Former Spartan gets NFL start

A former Spartan has gotten his first start after making a positional change

Michigan State football fans know Ben VanSumeren as a linebacker during his time in East Lansing. Now, forging an NFL career for himself, VanSumeren has found himself a role in the leeague.

Going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, VanSumeren landed a role with the Philadelphia Eagles. Starting his career mainly on special teams, VanSumeren recorded 16 tackles in nine games for the Eagles in 2023.

Now, the former Spartan has made the switch to the offensive side of the ball, where he will now play as a fullback. In the Eagles game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, VanSumeren got the start.

Former MSU linebacker finding new life in NFL career as a fullback

A former MSU linebacker may have found a new long-term role as a fullback in the NFL

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a fringe linebacker make a move to fullback and excel quite like former MSU linebacker Ben VanSumeren has this year for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles definitely liked something about VanSumeren, as they kept him around the last few seasons, but this year, someone on the Eagles had the idea to use him as a fullback, and he has excelled in a big way.

VanSumeren has been credited with helping star running back Saquan Barkley break some huge runs, and he has shown some fantastic blocking skills out of the fullback position, something we don’t often see anymore in the pro game.

This account below, Last of the Fullbacks, broke down some of his excellent play in that position:

It’s always great to see a Spartan find a home in the NFL, but this story is awesome in a way that any football fan would likely appreciate.

Former Michigan State football defensive back signs to Seattle Seahawks practice squad

A former MSU safety, now a linebacker, has signed with the Seahawks’ practice squad

A former Michigan State football player has found a new home in the NFL. On Wednesday, the Seattle Seahawks announced that they have signed linebacker Michael Dowell to the practice squad.

Dowell, who also had brother Andrew and David on the MSU team, was a safety in college but has since converted to linebacker at the next level.

Dowell spent three years with Michigan State before transferring to Miami of Ohio for two seasons. He signed with the Bengals this spring as an undrafted free agent before being cut, but now finds a nice landing spot in the NFL.

Kirk Cousins named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for second time this season

This is the ninth time Cousins has earned the honor

For the second time this season, and the ninth time in his career, former Michigan State star and current Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Cousins shredded the Falcons’ rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for 276 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 16 yards on the ground, something he’s definitely not known for, especially at this stage of his career.

Two former Spartans in the NFL try to exchange jerseys in hilarious video

Keon Coleman and Kenneth Walker at least attempted to do a jersey swap after their game Sunday

Before Keon Coleman and Kenneth Walker III were exciting young players in the NFL, they shared the field at Michigan State. The two Spartans played each other on Sunday, with Coleman’s Buffalo Bills beating Walker’s Seattle Seahawks 31 to 10.

After the game, Walker and Coleman tried to show love to each other with the classic post game jersey swap, but, hilariously, Kenneth Walker couldn’t figure out how to get his jersey off.

You can watch the video below, which is very sweet and funny:

New hilarious Keon Coleman commercial for Booking.com goes viral

It didn’t take Keon Coleman long to land his first commercial. And it’s hilarious.

It’s been a big week for former Michigan State Spartan Keon Coleman. Not only did he break the 100-yard mark for the first time in his career with the Buffalo Bills, but his new commercial for Booking.com also came out, and it’s going viral for being so funny.

The video features Coleman on a trip to Niagara Falls and inside of his hotel room, and he flashes his trademark charisma the whole time in hilarious fashion.

Former Michigan State football linebacker signs with the Carolina Panthers

The Panthers signed a former Spartan linebacker off the Steelers’ practice squad

Back in April, former Michigan State football linebacker Jacoby Windmon signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers to join their practice squad as an undrafted free agent. Windmon was waived by the Steelers, but then re-signed a few weeks ago. This week, the Carolina Panthers plucked Windmon off of the Steelers’ practice squad to join their 53-man active roster.

This is a great opportunity for Windmon to join a Panthers team that is struggling with injuries and production. They will be looking to find a spark and Windmon might be able to earn some snaps with his vaunted pass rush skills from the linebacker position.

Kirk Cousins named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Kirk Cousins named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

At the age of 36, former Spartan and current Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback Kirk Cousins put up one of the best stat lines of his career, recording a franchise record 509 passing yards and four touchdowns, with just one interception, in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

For his efforts, Cousins was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. This the eighth time Cousins has won the award.

It’s always amazing to see Cousins doing so well in the NFL. He was amazing at Michigan State, but came in as a very unheralded recruit and earned himself a great career.
