Wisconsin basketball is looking to add to an already impressive class of 2021. The Badgers offered 2021 shooting guard Isaiah Barnes yesterday, per his Twitter.

Barnes has seen a meteoric rise over the past few months in his recruiting. According to 247sports, he is an unranked prospect, yet over the past few months has received offers from Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, and other power five schools.

The 6-6 shooting guard has the size, athleticism, and a smooth pull-up jumper to make him successful at the next level. Despite flying under the radar during his freshman and sophomore seasons, the country is waking up to the potential of the Illinois native.

The Badgers already have three 2021 four-star commits in Chucky Hepburn, Matthew Mors, and Chris Hodges. The Wisconsin basketball 2021 recruiting class is currently ranked as the second best class in the country behind USC according to 247sports.

Notre Dame Offers Elite ’22 Defensive Tackle

Schrauth checks in at a massive 6-5, 265 pounds and has the biggest powerhouses in the mid-west in pursuit of his talent.  Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Western Michigan and Wisconsin have already extended offers and you’d assume with a list like that, more blue-bloods won’t be too far behind.

As the watch continues as to where the nation’s best high school football talents in the 2021 recruiting class will commit the push is already well-underway for the 2022 classes as well.  Today Notre Dame made an offer to a big-time ’22 prospect from the mid-west.

Billy Schrauth of St. Mary’s Springs in Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin is rated as the sixth best defensive tackle prospect in the nation from the early rankings 247Sports has given.  Their composite rankings grade him as a four-star talent early on.

Enjoy his sophomore year highlight tape below.  He’s being recruited nationally as a defensive tackle and you can see why but some of the most fun on his tape is him mauling young men as an offensive guard.

Tracking every Michigan State Football commit for the 2021 recruiting class

In this post we will track every commitment for the Michigan State Football 2021 recruiting class.

[jwplayer uiKRAikX]

The 2021 recruiting class presents an interesting challenge for Mel Tucker and the Michigan State Football team. Tucker was already behind the eight-ball from day one, taking over for Mark Dantonio and having to build out a staff while other teams were already knee-deep in their recruiting processes. Then, this little thing called the COVID-19 Coronavirus broke out in the United States, putting an end to any opportunities for in-person recruiting. Tucker has still managed to be extremely active on the recruiting front. We will be tracking every new recruit for the 2021 class in this post.

One thing that is very clear about this class is that Mel Tucker is looking for size and athleticism. Ethan Boyd is 6’7″, Tyson Watson is 6’6″, and Harmon and Nealy are both 6’4″. At 6’4″, Nealy will be one of the tallest defensive backs in the country and that length should be very interesting to watch in coverage.

Alabama lands in-state commitment from 3-star DT

The defensive tackle attended Robert E. Lee high school in Montgomery and decided to stay in state by choosing Alabama over Auburn…

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide have landed their second commitment for the 2021 class from three-star defensive tackle from Montgomery, Alabama, Anquin Barnes.

Barnes is the second recruit to commit to Alabama as they landed four-star linebacker Deontae Lawson, another in-state recruit.

Barnes was given three stars from 247Sports, but is expected to eventually be bumped up as a four-star recruit.

The defensive tackle attended Robert E. Lee high school in Montgomery and decided to stay in state by choosing Alabama over Auburn. Barnes also received other SEC offers from the University of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and had interest from Mississippi State.

He made his announcement via Twitter.

It didn’t seem to be a difficult decision for him, as he mentions in his commitment statement that Alabama is a school he’s had his eyes on since he knew about football.

Lawson and Barnes have combined to bring Alabama to be ranked No. 55 in the country for the 2021 recruitment cycle. However, it is still early and the Crimson Tide is expected to climb the rankings rather quickly.

Warren Mott defensive end Tyson Watson commits to Michigan State

Watson is the fifth recruit of Mel Tucker’s inaugural class

#21BuiltStrong has added another big body on the defensive line.

A couple days after Detroit Loyola defensive tackle Derrick Harmon became Mel Tucker’s fourth recruit of the 2021 class, the Spartans added their fifth guy in Warren Mott defensive end Tyson Watson. Watson announced his decision during a sit-down on Rivals.com

Watson, listed at 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds, is a three-star prospect on the 247Sports composite rankings. He is ranked as the No. 562 prospect in the 2021 class and the 16th-best player in the state of Michigan.

Watson chose MSU over a group of finalists that include Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa State, and Toledo. He totaled up 20 offers, a number of which came from power five schools.

Tennessee target, in-state OL commits to Auburn

Tennessee target, in-state OL commits to Auburn.

Tennessee offensive line target and 3-star prospect J’Marion Gooch has committed to Auburn, giving the Tigers their eleventh commitment of the 2021 recruiting class.

A wide set 6-foot-7.5 inch, 358-pound prospect, Gooch is a junior at The King’s Academy in Seymour, Tennessee. Rated the No. 86 offensive tackle in his class, Gooch has tremendous upside with his size and was coveted by several major programs. Colorado, Miami, Oregon, Ole Miss and several others had offered the offensive lineman.

Tennessee had offensive coordinator Jim Chaney assigned as Gooch’s primary recruiter, and will continue to pursue him, but it is very likely the Vols will have to look elsewhere for offensive line talent in the 2021 recruiting class.

UT currently has 10 players committed to the class, with no offensive linemen included.

Tennessee in the hunt for Payton Page

Tennessee in the hunt for Payton Page.

Tennessee has long been in pursuit for elite 2021 defensive lineman Payton Page from Greensboro, North Carolina. The Vols are now deadlocked with two other programs in the hunt for Page’s signature.

UT is the only SEC school left in consideration, as North Carolina and Clemson were included in Page’s top three as well.

A large, strong prospect, Page is a 6-foot-4, 360-pound interior defensive lineman that has been high on Tennessee’s priority list for some time. Recently hired defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh is Page’s primary recruiter, with support from former 247Sports National Recruiter of the Year and Tennessee inside linebackers coach Brian Niedermeyer.

Page is a 4-star on the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 10 defensive tackle in his 2021 class. Ranked the No. 66 overall player in the class, Page would be Tennessee’s highest-rated prospect in the group if he were to commit today.

Tennessee in top 5 for North Carolina lineman Colby Smith

Tennessee in top 5 for North Carolina lineman Colby Smith.

Tennessee is in the running to land 2021 offensive lineman Colby Smith from Reidsville, North Carolina, a 3-star prospect who posted his top five schools on his Twitter page on Thursday.

While Smith could certainly add weight, his 6-foot-7 frame and skill set has attracted college programs across the Eastern part of the United States. Smith has relegated his options down to five schools within driving distance of his North Carolina hometown.

Louisville, North Carolina State, North Carolina and South Carolina are the other options for Smith. The 247Sports Composite rates him as a 3-star, and the No. 31 offensive tackle in his class.

Offensive line coach Will Friend is UT’s primary recruiter for Smith, with running backs coach Jay Graham in support. The Vols currently have ten prospects committed to the 2021 recruiting class, although none of them are offensive linemen.

TJ Guy commits to Michigan

The maize and blue received their ninth commitment of the 2021 cycle.

The Massachusetts to Michigan pipeline continues.

The Wolverines already have two commitments from The Bay State in 2021 in three-star linebacker Casey Phinney and four-star tight end Louis Hansen — and that’s not even counting Massachusetts native Greg Crippen, who now plays at IMG Academy in Florida — but with Mansfield (MA) three-star weak-side defensive end TJ Guy deciding between the maize and blue and hometown Boston College, it seems that the pull to Ann Arbor was too strong.

Recruited by fellow New Englander Don Brown, who has been a mainstay in the region — and having gotten some real talent from the area, including now-starter, Rhode Island-native Kwity Paye and incoming four-star linebacker Kalel Mullings — Guy ended his process on Friday, becoming the ninth commit for Michigan in the 2021 class.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Guy is rated as the No. 758 recruit in the country, regardless of position. He chose Michigan after decommitting from Boston College but also had offers from Nebraska, UConn, Pitt, Syracuse and Virginia. 247Sports has Guy as the nation’s 31st-ranked weak-side defensive end and fifth-best player in the state of Massachusetts.

Guy spoke to The Wolverine’s EJ Holland before he announced his commitment and shared why he’s pledging to Michigan without having ever visited campus.

Michigan, on the other hand, has pushed hard for Guy since offering back in February. UM defensive coordinator Don Brown has strong roots in New England, and the Wolverines have had plenty of success in the area over the last couple of cycles.

As mentioned, Guy has not visited Michigan. But the Wolverines are a finalist because of the relationships he’s built with Brown and the rest of the Michigan coaching staff.

“I have a great relationship with Coach Don Brown and Coach Shaun Nua,” Guy said. “I FaceTime those guys a lot. They opened me up to the whole school because I can’t visit. I’ve talked to Coach (Jim) Harbaugh a lot of times. I’ve talked to the head of education. I’ve seen all I’ve needed to see from Michigan. They made it easy for me to put them in the final decision.”

Badgers in a good position to land 4-star 2021 cornerback

Jon McNamara of Rivals.com tweeted yesterday that Paul Chryst and the Badgers are the lead dogs to land 4-star 2021 cornerback…

Who says Paul Chryst and Jim Leonhard can’t recruit?

Jon McNamara of Rivals.com tweeted yesterday that Chryst and the Badgers are the lead dogs to land 4-star 2021 cornerback Ricardo Hallman.

Hallman is ranked by Rivals as the 25th-best cornerback recruit in the nation and the 46th-best overall recruit from the state of Florida.

The University High School standout also has offers from the likes of Baylor, Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State and Miami.

Landing the cornerback would be big news for Chryst and his program as they currently have the 6th-ranked 2021 recruiting class in the nation and the 2nd-ranked in the Big Ten behind only Ohio State.

Hallman would join big names in the Badgers’ 2021 class including cornerback Hunter Wohler, offensive lineman J.P. Benzschawel, running back Antwan Roberts and linebacker Ayo Adebogun.
