NBA, Celtics Twitter react to Boston’s 126-120 grinding victory over Orlando

The Celtics ground out a tough road win to stay undefeated.

The Boston Celtics made the trip to the Amway Center Arena to play the Orlando Magic and likely Rookie of the Year candidate Paolo Banchero after a road win against the Miami Heat the night before. The Celtics ended their evening with a hard-fought win after a sloppy start and a cold-shooting night from star shooting guard Jaylen Brown and veteran point guard Marcus Smart, who combined to shoot 6-of-27 from the floor.

A 40-piece from superstar forward Jayson Tatum and Derrick White’s best game yet as a Celtic with 27 points got the job done against a scrappy and determined Magic squad trying their hardest not to lose on their home court.

Let’s take a look at what Celtics and NBA Twitter had to say about the game that got Boston to its first 3-0 start since its last era of contention.

The Boston Celtics came to Florida for their first road trip of the 2022-23 NBA season in just their second game of the campaign, facing a dangerous Miami Heat squad for the first time since eliminating them in the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals.

The Heat came out strong, taking a five-point lead early, but the Celtics were in control of the game for most of the contest after the first quarter, and Boston came away with a 111-104 win thanks to big games from Jayson Tatum (29 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists), Jayson Tatum (28 points), and Derrick White (10 points, 7 boards).

Grant Williams added 10 points and 7 rebounds off of the bench for the Celtics.

Let’s take a look at what NBA and Celtics Twitter had to say about the win on the unofficial social media of the league.

Looking much like the behemoth that came within two wins of an NBA title last season, the team had some issues controlling Sixers star Joel Embiid for much of the first half but had the game in hand by the final frame’s start.

The Boston Celtics started off their 2022-23 campaign that honors the life and legacy of Hall of Fame big man Bill Russell as the man himself would have wanted it, with a 126-117 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. It happened at a TD Garden transformed by the players wearing the City Edition jerseys he helped design to pay homage to his historic career and works off of the court on a parquet literally bearing the imprint of his greatness.

Let’s take a look at what NBA and Celtics Twitter were saying about the season opener win for Boston on the league’s unofficial social media platform.

Tatum and Brown shine as Celtics beat the Sixers 126-117 on opening night

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the Celtics to a loud opening night victory at home against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Boston Celtics opened the 2022-2023 regular season at home with a rousing 126-117 win against the Philadelphia 76ers. The game began with a beautiful tribute to the late Bill Russell, and ended with an emphatic Celtics victory.

With plenty of new faces in the rotation and a new coach on the sidelines, assessing these Celtics will take a little bit of time. That said, Boston is the defending eastern conference champions, with a combined 70 points from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celts firmly put the Sixers to bed for the night.

Boston’s offense looked fast, and Tatum in particular was positively electric. Here’s three quick takeaways from Boston’s opening night tilt against Philly.

Several Celtics teammates including Grant Williams, Derrick White, Sam Hauser, and Jayson (and Deuce) Tatum also were in attendance.

Star Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown and his 7uice Foundation recently held a grand opening for his 7uice retail outlet in the City of Boston’s seaport this past Saturday, and it was well-attended even before it was supposed to have started, fans queueing around the block well ahead of the listed start time.

Several Celtics teammates including Grant Williams, Derrick White, Sam Hauser, and Jayson (and Deuce) Tatum also happened to be in attendance, talking with fans waiting to see the new 7uice line debuting at the event, which featured several giveaways and a DJ to keep the vibes immaculate.

The Celtics Wire made it out to talk to some of the fans and players who made it out to the event, but for those among us who favor the visual, we also snagged some photos to check out in the gallery below.

Reacting to Jayson Tatum’s ejection in the Boston Celtics’ overtime loss to the Toronto Raptors

Should we be worried he is still complaining to refs? Or was the ejection unjustified?

During the Boston Celtics‘ 137-134 preseason overtime loss to the Toronto Raptors on Friday evening, star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum was hit with a pair of technical fouls and was subsequently ejected from the game. Reserve forward Grant Williams was then assessed a technical as well, and the team received yet another technical foul for the St. Louis native not leaving the basketball court fast enough, and the end result was Boston being hit with a total of three consecutive technicals in rapid succession.

In a game that otherwise didn’t matter, Tatum again let his emotions get the best of him. Will he and the Celtics use this as a teaching moment and learn from this experience?

Can it help the team moving forward and serve as a reminder to keep a level head going into the regular season?

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what the hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” had to say about Tatum’s ejection against the Raptors in Montreal on Friday.

NBA, Celtics Twitter react to Boston’s 137-134 overtime loss to the Raptors

Wet floors, controversial techs, and poor rebounding made for a rough night for Celtics fans.

The Boston Celtics made the trek north of the border to play the Toronto Raptors in a neutral site exhibition game at Bell Centre Arena to close out their slate of four 2022-23 preseason games and their participation in the league’s NBA Canada Games program for the season.

The Celtics and Raptors both played the game as if it were a regular season contest, keeping their starters in late into the game’s final frame to the chagrin of some as wet spots in the floor made for a few scary falls. A controversial tech late in the third saw Jayson Tatum ejected from the game.

Boston would ultimately fall to Toronto 137-134 in a loathed preseason overtime, but NBA and Celtics Twitter had plenty to say about the game; let’s take a look at what was being said.

NBA, Celtics media react to Boston’s 112-103 preseason win over the Charlotte Hornets (10/7)

The Celtics improve to 2-1 in preseason play with the victory.

The Boston Celtics came out flat in their third preseason game of the 2022-23 NBA season, quickly falling into a hole that would grow into a 16-point deficit at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets. Much of that can be ascribed to the nature of preseason games being both low-stakes adventures and an ideal petri dish for funky lineups, both of which played into Boston’s early struggles.

But in Blake Griffin’s debut with the team, as time passed and familiarity and confidence grew, the Celtics would claw their way back into the game, taking the lead several times in the second half and for good in the final moments of the third frame.

Celtics fans and NBA media had plenty to tweet about Boston’s exhibition win on Friday night — let’s dig into what they had to say.

The Boston Celtics hosted the Toronto Raptors for their second of four preseason exhibition games on Wednesday night, the last home tilt in the slate of friendlies ahead of the Celtics’ 2022-23 campaign.

Boston jumped out to an early lead, but the Raptors fought back, clawing back into striking range by the time the Celtics sat their starters, forcing overtime and ultimately beating Boston 125-119 on overtime. Despite the poor showing from several deep rotation players, Jaylen Brown (23 points) led all scorers, and Sam Hauser continued lighting up the league from deep off the bench with 22 points on 5-of-8 shooting from deep.

Let’s take a look at what NBA and Celtics Twitter had to say about the exhibition loss.

No Ime Udoka, Robert Williams III, Danilo Gallinari, Or Luke Kornet? No problem for Boston, evidently.

No Ime Udoka, Robert Williams III, Danilo Gallinari, Or Luke Kornet? No problem for Boston, evidently.

Strong games from deep rotation players like Mfiondu Kabengele, Sam Hauser, and Noah Vonleh got the home crowd into the game early, and after a bit of resistance from Charlotte early in the game, quickly turned into a route for the Celtics.
