NBA, Celtics Twitter react to Boston’s 133-118 road win over the New York Knicks

The Celtics shot a franchise record 27 shots from deep against the Knicks on Saturday night.

The Boston Celtics made the trip to the Manhattan Mecca that is the Madison Square Garden home of the New York Knicks to play the second half of a back-to-back without big man Al Horford, taking the night off while resting a stiff back. Boston had no issues sans the Florida alum with a record-setting night from beyond the arc for the Celtics, who shot 27-of-51 from deep against the Knicks on Saturday night.

It was enough to overcome New York’s dominance on the boards and hand the team a 133-118 victory, and Boston making each and every one of their dozen attempts at the charity stripe did not hurt either.

Let’s take a look at what NBA and Celtics Twitter had to say about the win, which puts Boston’s record at 6-3, good enough for sole possession fo third place in the league’s Eastern Conference.

Even DeMar DeRozan going off for 46 points was not enough for the Bulls.

The Boston Celtics hosted the Chicago Bulls at TD Garden on Friday night with the knowledge that they were facing a team expected to finish well below them in the standings — that was also the only ball club to have beaten them besides the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Revenge is a best served cold, and it was a chilling night for Boston from beyond the arc, with the team held to just 29.1% by Chicago. But even with that and the first 40-point game by a Bulls player since Michael Jordan came to Boston was not enough to beat the Celtics twice in a row for Chicago.

Let’s take a look at what Celtics and NBA Twitter had to say about Boston beating the Bulls while DeRozan went off for 46 points.

NBA, Celtics Twitter react to Boston’s 114-113 overtime loss to the Cavs

As much as it might have been a satisfying answer for Boston to pull off an overtime win, for Celtics fans, the ending was like a recurring nightmare.

The Boston Celtics made the trip to Ohio with revenge on their mind and an available Grant Williams on their roster with the Tennessee product back from a one-game suspension. The Cleveland Cavaliers had a key player back as well with Darius Garland returning to action after an early eye injury kept him on the bench to start the 2022-23 NBA season.

As much as it might have been a satisfying answer for the Celtics to pull off an overtime win on the Cavs’ home court of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, instead, fans of the team found themselves in the Eastern Conference version of Groundhog Day, Cleveland stealing the win in an extra period 114-113.

Let’s take a look at what NBA and Celtics Twitter had to say about the game.

Celtics Lab 151: On NBA (un)accountability and unseemly entanglements from Ime Udoka to Kyrie Irving with Dave Zirin

The Nets and Celtics have been entangled for nearly a decade, but antisemitism and Ime Udoka have added a dark new wrinkle.

The Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets have maintained a strange link for nearly a decade now with the two teams’ fate inextricably entangled first through the deal that sent Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Nets, then later through the stars the Celtics drafted from the draft assets Brooklyn traded them.

But the connection didn’t stop there. Kyrie Irving left Boston to join the Nets, and Boston hired Ime Udoka from the Brooklyn staff to be their head coach. Now, the ties have taken an even stranger, more concerning turn.

The Nets are poised to hire Udoka, who is currently suspended by Boston for misconduct. And Irving’s dalliances with a thread of antisemitism is creeping through the NBA media sphere and touching the Celtics by way of Ye (Kanye West).

To talk about that resurgent antisemitism in a broader, historical context, as well as the more immediate impact of Brooklyn perhaps poaching Udoka, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast got together with The Nation’s Dave Zirin to dive deep into some heavy material.

Celtics, NBA Twitter react to Boston’s 112-94 blowout of the Wizards at TD Garden

Hot nights from Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Malcolm Brogdon capitalized on a truly awful night for Wizards star Bradley Beal.

The Boston Celtics were the NBA’s top defense at the end of last season and came out of the gate one of the worst in the league to start their 2022-23 campaign. Thankfully, their offense was lethal enough to help them start 3-0, but soon their lack of effort and cohesion on the other end caught up to them in the form of a two-game losing streak.

The Celtics managed to keep it from sliding to three games with a trouncing of the Washington Wizards, with hot nights from Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Malcolm Brogdon capitalizing on a truly awful night for Wizards star Bradley Beal.

Let’s take a look at what was being said on Celtics and NBA Twitter as Boston cruised to a wire-wire 112-94 blowout.

Celtics, NBA Twitter react to Boston’s 132-123 overtime loss to the Cavaliers

The Cavaliers outlasted Boston to take the game with a 132-123 overtime win.

Down not only injured starting big man Robert Williams III and veteran forward Danilo Gallinari but also suspended backup forward Grant Williams, the Boston Celtics had their work cut out for them at TD Garden on Friday night as they faced one of the tougher frontcourts in the league’s Eastern Conference in the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Celtics and Cavs traded blows with Cleveland dominating the first quarter, and Boston the second and third. A tight fourth quarter would see the game head to overtime, but the Cavaliers outlasted Boston to take the game with a 132-123 win.

Let’s take a look at what NBA and Celtics Twitter had to say about the loss.

Celtics Lab 150: Getting up to speed on Boston’s tilt vs. the new-look Cavaliers with Evan Dammarell

With a changed supporting cast due to the Mitchell trade, it is unclear just how much of a challenge the Cavs are for Boston now.

The Boston Celtics get their first look at the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night as they return to TD Garden for their fifth game of the 2022-23 NBA season. They will square off against Donovan Mitchell, last season’s rookie phenom Evan Mobley, and, health allowing, Darius Garland.

With a changed supporting cast due to the Mitchell trade, it is unclear how much of a challenge the Cavs are for Boston now, but it is clear they are a better team for the deal. Will the Celtics handle their business in the wake of a stinging loss to the Chicago Bulls, or encounter their first losing streak of the season?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast sat down with “Locked On Cavs” host and Fear The Sword editor Evan Dammarell to get a feel for the team Boston faces to kick off the weekend, with Dammarell delivering the goods on what we ought to expect.

Justin Quinn and Cameron Tabatabie also dig into the Bulls loss and the Jaylen Brown-Ye West controversy, the latter recorded before Brown’s mea culpa for his initial response.

Jaylen Brown faces widespread criticism for response to Ye controversy

The Celtics star has found himself in the news for what many are characterizing as his inadequate response to West’s comments.

Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown was one of the first star athletes to sign with Ye (formerly Kanye) West’s Donda agency to represent his non-NBA interests, and in the wake of the antisemitic diatribe that embroiled West in scandal in recent weeks, he has also been among the first to feel the effects of what many are criticizing as his inadequate response to West’s comments.

Unlike West’s own talent agency CAA or his former sneaker partnership with Adidas — both of which have distanced themselves from West, breaking their business ties — Brown has eschewed doing so in a recent interview with the Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn.

“A lot of time goes into creating an entity or organization,” said the Celtics wing regarding his decision to remain with Donda.

Celtics drop first game of the season, fall to the Bulls 120-102

The Boston Celtics blew an early 19-point lead in Chicago, suffering the club’s first loss of the season.

The Boston Celtics suffered the club’s first loss of the ’22-23 season Monday night, falling to the Bulls 120-102 in Chicago. The Celts coughed up an early 19-point lead and quickly lost their footing. The Bulls went on to win the second quarter 35-15 and never looked back.

Chicago was especially effective down low, and out-rebounded the Celtics 60-44. Paired with a poor shooting night and Boston’s fate was sealed.

Things weren’t all bad for the Celtics despite the bad juju. Jayson Tatum was really in his bag for Boston, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win. Here’s three quick thoughts on Monday’s Celtics-Bulls game:

NBA, Celtics Twitter react to Boston’s 120-102 loss to the Chicago Bulls

This one stung in ways that are all too fresh for Boston fans.

On a day that saw Boston Celtics starting shooting guard Jaylen Brown’s name in the news for all the wrong reasons, his ball club came out strong against the Chicago Bulls in the last game of their first road trip of the 2022-23 NBA season.

A red hot start soon slid into a redux of the Celtics’ embarrassing collapse last season due to among the worst defensive performances since that debacle in Chicago not so long ago. Mix in some bad calls by the refs and not only interim head coach Joe Mazzulla but also reserve forward Grant Williams getting themselves ejected on questionable calls, and you get a loss like Boston’s 120-102 debacle.

Let’s take a look at what NBA and Celtics Twitter had to say about the loss.
