Watch: Ravens make pick, called for foolish taunting penalty

The Ravens foolishly drew a personal foul for taunting after a pick

Sometimes one has to wonder if athletes think.

The Baltimore Ravens’ Marcus Peters picked off Ryan Tannehill in the final two minutes Sunday against the Tennessee Titans in an AFC Wild-Card game.

Peters did the smart thing by sliding down rather than risking a fumble after a short return.

Then, he and his defensive teammates made an incredibly foolish — but predictable — move. They all ran to the Titans’ logo at midfield and slid and danced and stomped on it.

Penalty flag flies. The Titans had all three timeouts, so if they managed to stop Baltimore they could have gotten the ball back.

Not like those 15 yards could help in a seven-point game.

John Harbaugh should be ballistic.

This was revenge for what happened in Baltimore in November. However, if it cost the Ravens in the long run, it was foolhardy.

Watch: Lamar Jackson delivers 2nd-longest rush TD by QB in playoff history

Lamar Jackson’s legs have given the Ravens a tie in the second quarter

The Baltimore Ravens have rallied to tie the Tennessee Titans at 10 in the second quarter thanks to the legs of Lamar Jackson.

The reigning MVP shook off a first-quarter MVP and the entire Titans’ defense on this exciting 48-yard touchdown run.

Just when Tennessee thought it had him contained and in its sights, Jackson turned on the jets and wound up diving into the end zone.

The Justin Tucker PAT made it 10-all.

A former Raven weighed in with a warning.

Watch: A.J. Brown gets Tennessee Titans off to fast start

Ryan Tannehill and A.J. Brown hook up for a Tennessee touchdown

A.J. Brown was the long and short of it for the Tennessee Titans as they got the jump on the Baltimore Ravens in an AFC Wild-Card game on Sunday.

Watch the beautiful pass and catch between Ryan Tannehill and Brown on a 28-yard play early in the drive.

Then, the tandem teamed again as Tannehill found Brown for a 10-yard touchdown pass.

After the PAT, the home team had a 7-0 lead.

Tannehill was 6-for-6 on the drive. Brown has three receptions for 52 yards after the drive.

The question on the TD: Did Brown get away with OPI? It looked like he pushed off with his left arm.

The one (potentially) fatal flaw for every AFC wild-card team

With the AFC wild-card matchups set, here’s the one thing that could send each playoff team packing.

Now that we know all the matchups for wild-card weekend, it’s time to get into scouting those games and deciding where the breaking points are for each playoff team. Because while you have to be pretty decent to make the postseason unless your home is in the NFC East, there are always exploitable issues that could get you booted out of the playoffs before you even begin.

Some flaws are fixable — players return from injury, coaches learn how best to scheme around the liabilities, and opponents can have more obvious and more exploitable issues.

With all that said, here’s the one (potentially) fatal flaw for every AFC wild-card team, and the matchups therein:

Saturday, January 9 at 1:05 ET: Indianapolis Cots at Buffalo Bills, CBS

Sunday, January 10 at 1:05 ET: Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans, ABC/ESPN

Sunday, January 10 at 8:15 ET: Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers, NBC/Peacock

NFL Super Wild-Card weekend matchups are set

The six Wild-Card round matchups are set.

The trio of AFC and NFC matchups on Super Wild-Card weekend is set, almost.

The question is who will the fifth-seeded Tampa Bay Buccaneers play from the NFC East. It will either be the Washington Football Team or New York Giants playing host to Tom Brady & Co., depending on what happens in the Sunday nighter between Washington and Philadelphia.

A WFT win and it gets the division crown.

Meanwhile, the other NFC matchups will see Chicago at New Orleans and the Los Angeles Rams at the Seattle Seahawks.

The Saints beat the Bears, 26-23 in the regular season.

The Rams and Seahawks will be going a third round as they are NFC West rivals.

In the AFC, there will be an immediate rematch and third go-round for the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers. This one will take place at Heinz Field.

The other two Wild-Card games will see the Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo and the streaking Baltimore Ravens at the AFC South champion Tennessee Titans.

The times and dates will be announced by the league once the NFC East is settled and everything else takes shape with networks.

Joe Judge heads into Christmas as Giant Grinch

Joe Judge has his mind on the Baltimore Ravens, not Christmas

It is a holiday week … except for New York Giants’ coach Joe Judge and subsequently, that would impact his team.

Judge made an appearance on “Good Morning Football” on Wednesday. The rookie coach seemed more worried about Sunday’s opponent in Week 16, the Baltimore Ravens, as opposed to what gifts his wife and four children will be opening on Friday morning.

Talk about tunnel vision. Check out this quote: “With all due respect to Christmas, let’s forget about Christmas for a little while and focus on the Ravens.”

No, no no.

Watch: Dez Bryant catches first TD pass in 1,106 days

Lamar Jackson got Dez Bryant back in the scoring column with an 11-yard pass against the Jaguars

Dez Bryant has a touchdown as a Baltimore Ravens.

Watch as the veteran wideout never gives up and keeps moving until he gets enough separation on Sunday for Lamar Jackson to find him from 11 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The last TD pass Bryant had caught was a 50-yarder from Dak Prescott on Dec. 10, 2017. That came in a 30-10 Dallas victory over the New York Giants.

It was Bryant’s 74th receiving TD.

Watch: Ravens take down Jaguars’ Gardner Minshew II for safety

The Ravens’ Matthew Judon took down Gardner Minshew II for a safety

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a battle … trying to find a way to catch the New York Jets in the race for the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

It won’t be easy since the Jets seem intent on losing all 16 games. The Jaguars came into Sunday on a 12-game losing streak after somehow defeating the Indianapolis Colts in their opener.

The Jags’ losing ways got off to a swift start against the Ravens as Gardner Minshew II was sacked by Matthew Judon for a safety to give Baltimore a 2-0 lead.

Minshew never had a chance.

The Ravens took the free-kick and scored a touchdown as Lamar Jackson connected with Miles Boykin.
