Could 2024 be Justin Herbert’s year to win the NFL’s most valuable player award?

The NFL season is over, which means fans will be without football for the next 6 months. The NFL Draft in April will provide a small reprieve, but until August, football is gone. But, that doesn’t mean it’s too early for sports bettors to place wagers in anticipation of the next football season. On Monday, FanDuel released their initial betting odds for the NFL’s 2024 most valuable player.

For Oregon fans, the ideal scenario is Justin Herbert winning next year’s MVP and advancing to the Super Bowl. Herbert’s first few seasons in Los Angeles haven’t been the prettiest, but the hire of Jim Harbaugh could be what the Chargers need to start making the most out of Herbert’s talent.

Below are the top 15 2024 MVP candidates, including Justin Herbert, ranked by their betting odds.

Betting odds released for which NFL team will draft Oregon QB Bo Nix

FanDuel Sportsbook has released betting odds for which NFL team is going to select Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The coaching carousel in the world of college football seems to finally be coming to a close, and the transfer portal has cooled at long last. With about a month until spring football gets underway in Eugene, we have an opportunity to focus on the upcoming NFL draft, and where the many soon-to-be pro Oregon Ducks might end up.

While a large number of former Ducks will likely be playing on Sundays next season, one of the most intriguing is quarterback Bo Nix.

Nix seems to be a polarizing figure in the world of draft analysis. Some think he could be a first-round pick who comes off the board as soon as the early teens. Others believe he has a middle-to-late second-round grade.

This past week, FanDuel Sportsbook placed betting odds on which team would draft Nix in April. Here’s where they think he is most likely to go, along with some of our analysis on the potential suitor for Oregon’s QB.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers enter 2025 season with favorable odds to win Super Bowl LIX

Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers have favorable odds to win Super Bowl LIX in the 2024-25 season under Jim Harbaugh.

The 2023-24 football season officially came to an end on Sunday night in dramatic fashion, with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the San Francisco 49ers in overtime to win Super Bowl LVIII.

Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning celebrated while his childhood team won back-to-back championships. Deommodore Lenoir and Arik Armstead — a pair of Pro Ducks on the 49ers — had to swallow the loss.

As we look ahead to the 2025 season, it’s becoming clear that more Pro Ducks are likely going to be in a pretty good spot to contend for Super Bowl LIX. According to FanDuel SportsBook, Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers have favorable odds to win the championship, listed at +3000.

The Chargers have the 12th-best odds in the nation, tied with the Los Angeles Rams, New York Jets, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

With former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh now heading up the ship in Los Angeles, there is an expectation that new life is going to be breathed into the Chargers, and there is hope among Oregon fans that Justin Herbert’s career is going to see a brighter future.

Every Oregon Duck player to win at least one Super Bowl ring in the NFL

Looking to see which Oregon Duck players have ever won a Super Bowl ring? We’ve got you covered ahead of Sunday’s big game.

The final game of the NFL season is coming up in a matter of days, and there’s one thing that is on every Oregon fan’s mind as we get set for the big day.

Which former Ducks are in the Super Bowl?

This year, with a matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, a pair of Pro Ducks will be taking the field, with both Arik Armstead and Deommodore Lenoir acting as major difference makers on the San Francisco defense.

So if the 49ers come out on top, we will be able to add a pair of players to the list of Oregon Ducks with Super Bowl rings in their collection. While there are only a couple of Ducks in contention this season, the history of the NFL has seen a decoration of former Oregon players win the biggest game in all of sports. Many Oregon legends have one ring, some have a pair, and a select few have as many as three rings.

Here are all of the Oregon Ducks to win a Super Bowl in their career:

Duck fans, NFL draft analysts react as Bo Nix, Evan Williams show out in Senior Bowl

Both Bo Nix and Evan Williams put on a show during the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday, drawing a nice reaction from Oregon Duck fans online.

It’s been a great week for former Oregon Ducks down in Mobile, Alabama while the Reese’s Senior Bowl practices went on, with many of the players improving their draft stock a ton leading up to April.

However, it was only quarterback Bo Nix and safety Evan Williams who ended up playing in the actual Senior Bowl on Saturday, with Jackson Powers-Johnson, Khyree Jackson, and Brandon Dorlus choosing to sit out for various reasons.

That didn’t stop the highlights from pouring in, though.

In just a couple of series under center, Nix was impressive, completing four of his five passes with a touchdown and only one incompletion that came on a perfectly thrown deep ball that was dropped.

Meanwhile, Williams was all over the field making tackles and he came up with a big-time interception in the first half as well.

Here’s how Oregon fans and NFL draft analysts reacted to the Oregon Ducks’ performances on Saturday afternoon.

Is Jackson Powers-Johnson a 1st-round pick? NFL Draft experts think so

Oregon Ducks center Jackson Powers-Johnson is making a case to be a first-round draft pick after his performance at the Senior Bowl.

Oregon Ducks center Jackson Powers-Johnson, unfortunately, had to pull out of the annual Reese’s Senior Bowl early after aggravating his hamstring during practices this week. Still, two days of work was more than enough for scouts in attendance to be blown away by what the Rimington Trophy winner was able to do.

Powers-Johnson was named as one of the most impressive players of the week early on, and now there are NFL scouts and draft analysts who think that he could ultimately be a first-round draft pick this April.

Here’s what ESPN’s Jordan Reid had to say about Powers-Johnson:

Outside of Toledo corner Quinyon Mitchell, Powers-Johnson was the most impressive prospect I saw at the Senior Bowl. Not only did he play at his normal center spot, but he also took reps at guard. His anchor and hand strength immediately jumped out at me. At 6-foot-2 and 334 pounds, he has a wide frame that defenders are hardly ever able to run through. Powers-Johnson entered Mobile as a potential first-round pick and in consideration to be the first center selected, and I think he could go in the top 25. The Miami Dolphins (No. 21 overall) and Dallas Cowboys (No. 24) both have needs along the interior offensive line.

As one of the best interior offensive linemen in the draft with a unique versatility, there seems to be a good chance that Powers-Johnson goes in the first round after his performance down in Mobile. It will be interesting to see what he is able to do both at the NFL Combine and the Oregon Pro Day once March rolls around.

NBA announces details for Sabrina vs. Steph three-point contest

On Tuesday, the NBA announced details for Sabrina Ionescu and Steph Curry’s head to head three-point contest on February 17th.

A few days ago, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that during the NBA’s All-Star weekend, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will take on Sabrina Ionescu, a sharpshooter for the New York Liberty and former Oregon Ducks point guard, in a head-to-head three-point contest. On Tuesday, the NBA announced more details about the impending contest in a thread on Twitter.

The competition will take place on Saturday, February 17th, and it will follow standard three-point contest rules, which can be found here. Initially, the NBA announced that Curry would shoot with an NBA ball from the NBA three-point line, while Ionescu would shoot a WNBA ball from the WNBA three-point line — which are smaller and closer than the NBA ball and arc. But shortly after the NBA announced the guidelines for the contest, Ionescu announced on Twitter that she’ll shoot from the NBA range.

Both Ionescu’s SI20 Foundation and Curry’s Eat.Learn.Play non-profit will receive donations from the NBA and WNBA as part of the event, and State Farm has announced that they will donate a thousand dollars for each point scored in the contest to the NBA foundation, which will “support economic empowerment in the black community,” according to the NBA on Twitter.

Last season, Ionescu scored 37 out of 40 possible points in the WNBA three-point contest, the most ever in a three-point contest in either the NBA or WNBA. The previous record-holder was Curry, and it seems that the two sharpshooters’ desire to settle their score was what prompted this contest.

This historic competition is shaping up to be a must-see event. Ionescu and Curry are two of the greatest shooters in basketball’s history, regardless of gender, and they’ll certainly put on a show when they go head-to-head. Make sure to tune in on February 17th.

A pair of former Oregon Ducks are headed to the Super Bowl

A pair of former Oregon Ducks, Arik Armstead and Deommodore Lenoir, are headed to the Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers.

Conference Championship weekend has come to a close, and with the Super Bowl matchup now set between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, we know for certain that a pair of former Oregon Duck legends will be playing in the big game with a chance to earn a Super Bowl ring.

Both San Francisco defensive end Arik Armstead and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir will represent the 49ers in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks after a pair of incredible seasons with their team. On Sunday night, the 49ers beat the Detroit Lions — and former Oregon legend Penei Sewell — in dramatic comeback fashion, coming back from 17 points down in the first half.

Another Duck, offensive tackle Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu, had a chance to get to the Super Bowl on Sunday with the Baltimore Ravens, but they ended up losing to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

The Super Bowl will be played on February 11th in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium.

Jim Harbaugh’s departure to the NFL is a win for Oregon in more ways than one

With former Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh leaving to coach the Los Angeles Chargers, Oregon Duck fans come out as a winner.

On Wednesday afternoon, the long-awaited news finally dropped: Jim Harbaugh would be leaving the Michigan Wolverines and heading back to the NFL ranks, joining the Los Angeles Chargers as their new head coach.

While it may seem like a relatively expected coaching change on the surface, this move is far more impactful than you may believe, and the ripple effects will reach far and wide in the world of college football. Not only will Michigan now go on a coaching search — though offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore is the likely candidate to take over — but this move also opens up the transfer portal for 30 days in Ann Arbor, allowing players from the defending national champion roster to look elsewhere if they so choose.

This move from Harbaugh also has a big impact on the Oregon Ducks, believe it or not, for more reason that one. Whether it’s the future in the Big Ten, an upcoming high-profile recruitment, or some stability for an Oregon legend at long last, Duck fans should be happy to hear about the move, no matter their opinions on Harbaugh himself.

Here’s why:
