Report: Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers to land established OC Kellen Moore

Kellen Moore is heading to Los Angeles to work with Justin Herbert and the Chargers.

It looks like Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers are making a significant upgrade at the offensive coordinator position, landing arguably the top play-caller on the open market.

Former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is reportedly expected to take over as the new OC for the Chargers, taking over one of the most promising offenses in the league with Herbert at QB, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams at WR, and Austin Eckler at RB. Moore agreed to part ways with the Cowboys last week, ending his working relationship with Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy.

With Moore on the open market, many expected him to go to Tampa Bay to work with Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. However, it appears that the Chargers were able to get in there first and hire the young signal caller who has been considered for several head coaching positions over the past couple of years.

For Herbert, and Oregon fans that enjoy watching him play every weekend, this should be a big boost in production. Moore has a nice track record of working with quarterbacks as a former Boise State Broncos QB himself, and should be able to get the most out of the talented passer from Eugene.

Justin Herbert undergoes surgery to repair torn labrum in non-throwing shoulder

Justin Herbert had surgery recently to repair a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder.

With the offseason comes time to rest and recuperate for football players, and that appears to be what Oregon Ducks legend Justin Herbert will be doing for the next several months.

According to multiple reports on Sunday morning, the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback underwent successful surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. It’s unclear how long Herbert was dealing with this injury throughout the season, but he will spend the next several months working on rehabilitation. Expectations are that he should be available to participate in activities with the team this offseason, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

This is not the only injury that Herbert was dealing with during the season, as the QB also was hampered by a rib injury that was suffered in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mock Draft Roundup: Where Christian Gonzalez, Noah Sewell, other Ducks are projected to go

It’s mock draft season, and there are far too many to keep track of. We did the hard work for you. Check out where the top Ducks are projected to land.

As we trudge along in the college football offseason and start to think about the prospects of spring football on the horizon, one of the more entertaining things to look at for fans is the upcoming NFL Draft.

In late April, hundreds of college players will get to realize their dreams and be selected by one of the 32 NFL teams, getting tabbed to play on Sundays.

For the Oregon Ducks, there are a number of players who will likely get drafted or sign undrafted free-agent contracts, headlined by cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who is expected to be selected in the first round. There are also guys like LB Noah Sewell, DE D.J. Johnson, and OL Alex Forsyth, among others, who are expected to hear their names called as well.

So where will these guys end up getting drafted? That’s not always a straightforward question to answer. In the world of NFL media nowadays, there are hundreds of mock drafts to sift through, all with varying degrees of predictions for how the draft will play out. Rather than leaving you to go through all of them to get a good idea of where your favorite Ducks are going to get drafted, we did the work for you.

Here is a mock draft roundup, showing where the top Oregon players are projected to land this spring:

Dillon Brooks comments on halftime altercation with Shannon Sharpe

Former Oregon Ducks forward Dillon Brooks spoke out after his halftime altercation with Shannon Sharpe during the Grizzlies Lakers game.

Former Oregon Ducks forward Dillon Brooks was among a handful of Memphis players irritated with Fox’s Shannon Sharpe and his behavior during the Grizzlies’ loss to the Lakers.

“I ain’t talking about that,” Brooks said of his heated exchange with Sharpe, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “You can ask him. He’s the blogger or whatever he is. I don’t really care about all that. Next question.”

Sharpe and several Memphis players – including Brooks, Steven Adams, Ja Morant, and Morant’s father Tee – engaged in a shouting match with the Pro Football Hall of Famer, to the point where security and officials had to get involved.

Sharpe spoke about the incident, targeting Brooks specifically for his role in the encounter.

“They didn’t want this smoke, Dave,” Sharpe said. “They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said, ‘F— me.’ I said, ‘F— you’ back. He started to come at me, and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn’t want no problems.”

Brooks is averaging 16.1 points and a career-high 3.5 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who are in second place in the Western Conference.

Social Media Buzz: Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers suffer heartbreaking playoff collapse

Justin Herbert and the Chargers blew a 27-point lead and lost to the Jaguars in the NFL playoffs. Social media was not kind to Brandon Staley and Herbert afterwards.

Poor Justin.

After finally making his first career playoff start with the Los Angeles Chargers, it looked like things couldn’t have been going better for Herbert in the first half, with Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence throwing four interceptions and the team also losing a fumble.

The Chargers were up 27-0 at one point and ended up losing the game, 31-30. Herbert is now going home, still with zero playoff wins on his resume, and Chargers’ head coach Brandon Staley is likely to get fired in the coming days, if not hours.

As you would expect, the epic collapse resulted in social media going crazy, and while Herbert was at the center of it, he actually got a lot of support online, with much of the hate going to his coaching staff.

Here are some of the best reactions from the night.

Oregon Ducks in the NBA: Dillon Brooks, Bol Bol continue to shine

Bol Bol and Dillon Brooks continue to play well for Orlando and Memphis, positively representing Oregon Ducks in the NBA.

The 2022-23 NBA season is just about at the halfway point, with most teams playing roughly 40 games so far on the year.

It has been an up-and-down season for many of the U of O alumni playing at the next level.

Injuries and role reductions have hampered the seasons for guys like Chris Duarte, Payton Pritchard, and Chris Boucher.

Duarte in particular has seen his playing time plummet after missing about six weeks with an injury and losing playing time to a pair of rookie guards in Indiana.

On the plus side, both Bol Bol and Dillon Brooks have managed to stay healthy throughout the season, and it is paying off handsomely.

Brooks is averaging nearly 17 points per game for a very good Memphis squad, while Bol has emerged as a legit star for Orlando – knocking down threes, blocking shots, and generally doing everything you want from a stretch five.

Below is a report on every Oregon alumni currently playing in the NBA as we approach the second half of the season:

Pro Ducks are prevalent through out the 2023 NFL playoffs

The NFL playoffs begin this weekend and there are plenty of former Ducks who will be on the field.

The Oregon Ducks football season may be over, but Oregon fans can still watch their favorite former Ducks in the NFL playoffs starting this weekend.

It all starts with 49ers hosting the Seahawks on Saturday and Arik Armstead and Deommordore Lenoir headlining the San Francisco defense.

But in reality, the majority of Duck fans will be watching former quarterback Justin Herbert’s first potential playoff run as he leads the Chargers against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night.

There’s a total of 10 former Ducks who will be participating in the playoffs with the hope of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy Feb. 12 after Super Bowl LVII. Here are the 10 Pro Ducks in the NFL postseason.

A final look at how Oregon Ducks performed during 2022 NFL season

A final look at how Justin Herbert, Marcus Mariota, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and other Oregon Ducks performed during the 2022 NFL regular season.

The 2022 NFL regular season has come to an end, with a handful of Oregon Ducks alumni headed into the playoffs for their respective teams.

All in all 27 different Oregon players participated in the NFL during the regular season. Some only played in one game, some played every game, heck some (like Penei Sewell) played every single snap for their team, at least on the offensive side of the ball.

Some players had down years, like Arik Armstead who failed to record a sack for the first time in his career. Meanwhile, many others had career best seasons, including Juwan Johnson who had over 500 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, and Johnny Mundt who had the first receiving touchdown of his career.

Oregon’s rookies also showed out in a big way, with Kayvon Thibodeaux showing why he was a top pick in the NFL draft and Verone McKinley proving the doubters wrong by starting games as an undrafted rookie for Miami.

Here is a look at how all 27 Oregon alumni performed during the 2022 NFL regular season:

Former Oregon QB Anthony Brown will start for Baltimore Ravens vs. Bengals on Sunday

Former Oregon QB Anthony Brown will get his first career NFL start vs. the Bengals on Sunday as the Ravens prepare for the Wild Card weekend.

Former Oregon Ducks’ quarterback Anthony Brown will make his first career start in the NFL on Sunday, stepping in for injured Baltimore Ravens’ QB Tyler Huntley and lining up against the Cincinnati Bengals in the last regular season game of the year.

Brown has played in just one game this season, completing 3-of-5 passes for 16 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14.

While the Ravens have clinched a playoff spot already and are just jockeying for seeding at this point, it’s clear that Baltimore is pulling the dogs and making sure that they are as healthy as can be for next week’s Wild Card matchup. There are expectations that QB Lamar Jackson could be good to go, but in case he has not fully recovered, John Harbaugh wants to make sure that Huntley is fresh and ready to play in the playoff game. The Ravens will also sit TE Mark Andrews and RB J.K. Dobbins for Sunday’s game vs. the Bengals.

This brings about a big opportunity for Brown, who has made some waves on social media this season with the Ravens. It all started with an electric preseason run that had many people thinking that he would make the 53-man roster, while Oregon fans wondered how this dynamic player at times struggled with the Ducks a year ago playing under head coach Mario Cristobal.

We will see on Sunday if Brown can further his young NFL career with a solid game and potentially get some more looks from either the Ravens or other teams down the road.

The outlook for the Ducks is definitely bright, and a lot of premier talent is returning to Eugene for the 2023 season, headlined by quarterback Bo Nix.
