Russell Wilson will replace Tom Brady at the 2022 Pro Bowl

Meanwhile, Brady led the NFL with 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will be taking the place of Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady on the NFC roster at the 2022 Pro Bowl, the team just announced. This is because Brady is “injured” and not related to the recent reports of his retirement, which have been refuted by Brady’s camp.

In any case, Wilson will be playing in his ninth Pro Bowl in 10 seasons. Wilson began and ended this year strong, but had a rough patch in the middle related to the first major injury of his career. After hitting his throwing hand on Aaron Donald’s helmet in Week 5, Wilson missed the next three games and took several more weeks to return to his usual form.

In the end, Wilson finished the 2022 campaign with 3,113 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 55.0 QBR. He completed 259 of 400 pass attempts (64.8%) and posted a 103.1 passer rating.

Meanwhile, Brady led the NFL with 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns.

When the NFL announced the Pro Bowl rosters for the AFC and NFC earlier this week, there was a noticeable absence for the Chicago Bears.

While outside linebacker Robert Quinn and return specialist Jakeem Grant earned well-deserved nods, linebacker Roquan Smith was snubbed for the second straight season.

Smith has been one of the best linebackers in the NFL over the last couple of years, and he doesn’t get the respect he deserves.

This season, Smith has 140 tackles (third in the NFL), nine tackles for loss (fifth among linebackers), three sacks (tied for fifth among LBs), a 76.9 passer rating allowed (10th among LBs) and has only a 4.1 missed tackle percentage.

Bears defense coordinator Sean Desai called it a “travesty” that Smith wasn’t voted to the Pro Bowl.

“He deserves every single accolade that one of the best linebackers in the league deserves,” Desai said. “…His play, his relentless nature, his speed shows up every week.”

Smith hasn’t put much stock into outside accolades, but you have to believe he’s using the continued disrespect to fuel him.

No Jaguars players selected to the Pro Bowl for second consecutive season

Though players like punter Logan Cooke may have had a chance, Jacksonville is still looking for its first Pro Bowler since 2019.

For the second-straight season, no Jacksonville Jaguars players were selected to the Pro Bowl. This shouldn’t come as a major surprise, as the team has struggled all season and sits at 2-12. With just a 3-27 record over the last two seasons and one of the youngest rosters in football, there haven’t been a lot of clear standouts.

The best player on the team is arguably running back James Robinson, who was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie team last year after breaking the NFL record for scrimmage yards from an undrafted rookie. However, injuries and limited carries have held him in check this season, though he has one more touchdown already than he did last year with eight, and his average (4.7) is slightly improved from last season.

Perhaps the Jacksonville player with the best argument was punter Logan Cooke, whose average of 47.1 on 63 punts was above average but not elite. However, 28 of those punts were downed inside the 20, which is the third-best mark in the NFL. Las Vegas punter A.J. Cole was the AFC’s Pro Bowl selection instead.

The last time the Jags had a player make the Pro Bowl was 2019, when it got DJ Chark, Calais Campbell, and Josh Allen in. Chark, who is a pending free agent in 2022, and Allen remain on the team. However, Chark’s season ended Week 4 against Cincinnati after he sustained a broken ankle early in the game.

As for Allen, he had a bit of a sophomore slump in 2020, but he’s been better this season, totaling a career-high 60 tackles already with 5.5 sacks. However, he’s not on pace to match his 10.5 sack total from his rookie season.

This is a Jags team that still needs to build more talent, and until that happens, this squad likely won’t have many players earning postseason honors.

The Pro Bowlers from the NFC West

The NFC had 15 players make the Pro Bowl. The 49ers had five, the Cardinals and Rams had four each and the Seahawks had two.

The NFL announced the rosters for this year’s Pro Bowl teams. The Arizona Cardinals had four players named to the NFC squad, with two being starters.

The NFC West had 15 players in all be selected to the Pro Bowl. The Cardinals had four as did the Los Angeles Rams. The San Francisco 49ers led the division with five and the Seattle Seahawks had two.

Bears fans livid that Roquan Smith was snubbed from Pro Bowl…again

Roquan Smith was snubbed from the Pro Bowl for the second straight year. Bears fans just want to know: When will the disrespect end?

The NFL unveiled the 2022 Pro Bowl rosters for the NFC and AFC on Wednesday night, and the Bears had two players voted to the Pro Bowl in outside linebacker Robert Quinn and return specialist Jakeem Grant.

One noticeable snub from the Pro Bowl roster is Bears linebacker Roquan Smith, who has been one of the NFL’s best linebackers over the last two seasons and has been snubbed both times.

This season, Smith has 140 tackles (third in the NFL), nine tackles for loss (fifth among linebackers), three sacks (tied for fifth among LBs), a 76.9 passer rating allowed (10th among LBs) and has only a 4.1 missed tackle percentage.

Simply put, Smith has been playing at an incredibly high level — as one of the top linebackers in the NFC — and he continues not to receive the recognition he deserves.

Oh, and to make matters worse, Smith wasn’t even listed among those players snubbed from the Pro Bowl on this list from NFL.com.

And, as you can imagine, Bears fans were livid that Smith was snubbed for the second straight year after he continues to prove he’s one of the league’s best linebackers. Fans just want to know: When will the disrespect end?

RB James Conner among 4 Cardinals Pro Bowlers, 9 alternates

James Conner, Budda Baker, Kyler Murray and Chandler Jones named as Pro Bowlers and nine other Cardinals are alternates.

The NFL announced Pro Bowl rosters and the Arizona Cardinals had four players land on the NFC roster. They also had nine players named as alternates.

The four that made the Pro Bowl are:

  • RB James Conner
  • S Budda Baker
  • QB Kyler Murray
  • OLB Chandler Jones

It is Conner’s second selection and first with the Cardinals, as this is his first season with the team.

Baker’s selection is his third straight and fourth overall. Murray was selected for the second straight year and Jones makes the Pro Bowl for the third time with the Cardinals and fourth time in his career.

Baker was named a starter for the game.

The team also had nine players selected as alternates: TE Zach Ertz, LB Markus Golden, G Max Garcia, WR DeAndre Hopkins, C Rodney Hudson, T D.J. Humphries, P Andy Lee, CB Byron Murphy and K Matt Prater.

Pro Bowl selections are based on fan votes, coach votes and player votes.

6 Cardinals players are top-10 Pro Bowl vote getters at their positions

The Pro Bowl rosters will be announced Wednesday evening. These Cardinals players did well in fan voting.

The NFL will announce the players who make the Pro Bowl on Wednesday. It is determined by fan vote, player vote and coach vote, each part worth one third of the formula.

Fan voting is complete and. according to the Cardinals team site, six Cardinals players were in the top 10 of fan voting at their respective positions.

Bears OLB Robert Quinn, WR Jakeem Grant named to 2022 Pro Bowl

Bears OLB Robert Quinn and WR Jakeem Grant are Pro Bowl bound!

Bears outside linebacker Robert Quinn and return specialist Jakeem Grant have been voted to the 2022 Pro Bowl, the team announced Monday, where they will be starters at their respective positions.

Quinn has bounced back in a huge way following a disappointing 2020 season. Quinn entered Week 15 with 14.0 sacks, which is tied for the third-most in the NFL and third best in a Bears single season. Quinn is just 3.5 shy of tying Richard Dent’s single-season record of 17.5 set in 1984.

Quinn was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November, where he logged 5.5 sacks, 14 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

Grant was acquired in a trade with the Miami Dolphins back in October, where he’s been a solid punt and kickoff returner. In nine games, Grant has averaged 16.3 yards on 15 punt returns with one touchdown, as well as 23 yards on two kickoff returns. On offense he caught nine passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

Grant’s most impressive feat came last week against the Packers, when he returned a punt 97 yards for a score — the first punt return touchdown of the season — to add to his offensive touchdown.

For the second straight season, Bears linebacker Roquan Smith was snubbed from the Pro Bowl.

8 Cardinals in among top Pro Bowl vote-getters at their positions

Check which Cardinals players are getting the most fan support for the Pro bowl.

Last week, the Arizona Cardinals had one player who led the NFC in Pro Bowl fan votes at his position. Safety Budda Baker led all NFC strong safeties in votes and his total was more than any NFC free safety as well.

He has since been overtaken in fan voting by Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith.

However, according to the Cardinals’ official team site, Bake is one of eight Cardinals players who are in the top 10 at their respective positions in fan votes.

Budda Baker overtaken in Pro Bowl voting by Harrison Smith

Baker led all safeties in fan votes a week ago. He no longer is in that top spot.

NFL fans can vote for their favorite players to go to the Pro Bowl this season. After the first round of fan voting, Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker was the leading vote-getter in the NFC among all safeties. He had received 41,404 fan votes.

That has changed.

The NFL released the leaders in fan votes after another round and Baker has lost his status as top dog.

The leader in fan votes at strong safety is now Harrison Smith of the Minnesota Vikings. Smith has 62,499 votes to lead all safeties, both free and strong, in the NFC.

Baker has been a Pro Bowler the last two seasons and three times in his career.

Vote here online up until December 16 and you can also vote on social media as well.

Fan voting is only one third of the total count for the Pro Bowl, but it would be nice to get Baker back on top of the fan voting.
