Budda Baker leads NFC safeties in Pro Bowl voting

Baker has received more fan votes for the Pro Bowl than any other safety in the NFC.

Fan voting has begun for the Pro Bowl and the NFL announced the first round of leaders. The Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are the five teams that have received the most votes for players on their rosters.

The Arizona Cardinals obviously are not part of that group.

They do, though, have one of the leading vote-getters at one position.

Safety Budda Baker is No. 1 in fan votes for the NFC at strong safety. He has received 41,404 fan votes.

Looking at both the strong and free safety positions, Bakers also leads the NFC in votes among all safeties, both free and strong.

The leading NFC free safety is the Seattle Seahawks’ Quandre Diggs.

Baker is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro.

NFL.com lists Trevor Lawrence as top choice to become a first-time Pro Bowler for Jags this season

Even though he’s a rookie, it isn’t out of the realm of possibilities for Trevor Lawrence to make the Pro Bowl this season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will enter this season with one of the youngest teams in the NFL, but if they are competitive enough, they could send a couple of Pro Bowlers down the road to Orlando.

When it comes to the conversation of names who have the best chances to get a Pro Bowl nod, players who’ve already been there like Josh Allen and DJ Chark Jr. come to mind. However, they also have some players who’ve never been who have the potential to make the all-start game roster, too.

While he has yet to play in an NFL game, NFL.com’s Marc Sessler believes Trevor Lawrence has the best chance to be a first-time Pro Bowler for the Jags in 2022 as it isn’t uncommon for rookie quarterbacks to get the nod. As we’ve mentioned in the past, Lawrence is also coming into a situation where there are plenty of skill weapons, which is another reason Sessler likes the rookie’s chances.

It’s not impossible for a rookie passer to wind up in the Pro Bowl. Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Dan Marino, Dak Prescott, Cam Newton and even Jameis Winston pulled it off after fine first-year outings. Lawrence fits the bill as a celebrated top-flight prospect destined to start right away. Jacksonville’s offense is far from star-studded, but Marvin Jones, D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault Jr. form a reliable wideout group, while rookie runner Travis Etienne and 2020 sensation (and Pro Bowl snub!) James Robinson give Lawrence plenty to work with. The looming curiosity: Can Urban Meyer stir this drink into a winning tonic?

Right now, Lawrence is the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year in the eyes of Vegas oddsmakers, and if that happens, a Pro Bowl nod certainly isn’t out of reach.

However, it’s worth noting that the Pro Bowl frequently comes down to popularity, which is why a lot of players from Jacksonville have a hard time making the cut. Then again, Lawrence is significantly different than any other player the Jags have ever drafted and is a widely recognizable face. The Jags’ fanbase has already witnessed this first hand as many Clemson Tiger fans have expressed they will be supporting Lawrence while donning Black and Teal on Sundays.

Kyler Murray named Pro Bowl MVP as NFC tops AFC in Madden 21

The NFC beats the AFC in this virtual Pro Bowl 32-12.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhnEN4NSGEo

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Pro Bowl was not an actual football game. Instead, it was a virtual event with broadcasts throughout the week.

The game was played on Madden 21. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was the leader of the NFC squad and had NASCAR star Bubba Wallace, Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams and former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch at the controls for a quarter each.

For the AFC, it was led by Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, who played the first quarter. He was followed by former NFL receiver and current ESPN analyst Keyshawn Johnson, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry and rapper Snoop Dogg.

Murray played with himself at quarterback and picked up a 7-0 lead and handed over control to Wallace after one quarter with a 7-6 lead.

Wallace scored three touchdowns and the NFC rolled to a 32-12 win.

Murray was named the Pro Bowl MVP.

You can catch a replay of the entire broadcast in the above embedded video from the NFL.

DeAndre Hopkins plans to commemorate Hail Murray catch with jewelry

The level of disrespect with this planned chain is extreme.

For the Arizona Cardinals, their No. 1 play of the year — and perhaps the top play of the entire NFL season — was when quarterback Kyler Murray and receiver DeAndre Hopkins hooked up for a game-winning touchdown pass with seconds remaining in the game to defeat the Buffalo Bills.

It has since been dubbed the Hail Murray.

Here is the play again:

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”80Gz6YM4S6-1038114-7498″]

He went up between three very good Bills defensive backs — cornerback Tre’Davious White and safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer — to win the game.

Hopkins has plans of having a chain made to commemorate the play, he revealed during his Pro Bowl Verzuz on Thursday night with L.A. Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and the level of disrespect is over the top.

“I’m going to get a chain made with their three names on there and a cemetery,” he said.

He basically wants to tell White, Hyde and Poyer to rest in peace.

Hosts Deion Sanders and M.J. Acosta-Ruiz about died. Ramsey said it didn’t make any sense.

If Hopkins actually follows through, has it made and shows it off, we will be sure to share that here on the site.

After all, who wouldn’t want to see that?

Drip, trash talk and highlights in DeAndre Hopkins vs. Jalen Ramsey Pro Bowl Verzuz

It was an epic matchup on NFL social channels between one of the best receivers and one of the best corners of today.

As part of this year’s Pro Bowl events, the NFL has held virtual events featuring the stars of the league. On Thursday, it featured a faceoff of arguably the best receiver in the game and arguably the best cornerback in the game today.

Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins and Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey traded highlights, outfits and trash talk for about an hour on the NFL social channels.

They had great outfits going on, as Hopkins had a fur and Ramsey had a serious chain with his No. 20 and a lock — representing being a lockdown corner.

They traded highlights and even showed clips going up against one another. They have both traded big plays.

There was also some epic trash talking and memorable quotes.

Hopkins said he would put the names of the three Buffalo Bills defensive backs on a chain with a cemetery. He joked about sending defensive backs into retirement. He also, on multiple occasions, referred to Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson as “the ex-Texan.”

It was an incredibly entertaining hour. Watch it in its entirety.

Twitter reacts to Bears’ Pro Bowl selections and snubs

The NFL released its Pro Bowl roster, and Twitter had plenty to say about the Bears players that made it and were snubbed.

On Monday evening, the NFL announced the AFC and NFC rosters for the 2020-2021 Pro Bowl.

As expected, Chicago Bears stars such as outside linebacker Khalil Mack and kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson were named to the NFC roster, but others were surprising snubs such as cornerback Kyle Fuller, linebacker Roquan Smith, wide receiver Allen Robinson and even kicker Cairo Santos.

When the Pro Bowl news broke, many Bears and NFL fans took to Twitter and shared their thoughts on the selections and omissions from this year’s team:

Bears OLB Khalil Mack, KR Cordarrelle Patterson named to Pro Bowl

The Bears have two players that made the 2021 Pro Bowl roster for the NFC in Khalil Mack and Cordarrelle Patterson.

Two Chicago Bears familiar with Pro Bowl honors are going back (figuratively) once again.

Outside linebacker Khalil Mack and kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson have been voted to this year’s Pro Bowl as part of the NFC team.

While the actual game, which was scheduled to take place January 31, 2021, will not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, players were still able to be voted to conference rosters. Players were selected based on voting from fans, players, and coaches.

Mack is making his sixth Pro Bowl team in a row and his third with the Bears since coming over in a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders in 2018. The star pass rusher has eight total sacks on the year, including three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception. Mack was voted as one of the starting outside linebackers, alongside Green Bay Packers linebacker Za’Darius Smith.

Patterson, meanwhile, was named to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season and fourth time overall. The electric kickoff returner currently leads the league with 32 total returns and is averaging a league-best 29.4 yards per return. He has one touchdown on the season as well. The veteran also was voted in 2013 and 2016 when he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings.

Budda Baker, DeAndre Hopkins, 5 others among Pro Bowl vote leaders at positions

Hopkins and Baker lead their positions, while Kyler Murray and others are in the top 10.

The NFL announced the results of the second cycle of Pro Bowl fan voting, giving the top five vote-getters overall and the top vote-getter at each position in each conference.

The Arizona Cardinals have two leaders and another five players in the top 10 at their positions.

DeAndre Hopkins drops out of top 5 in overall Pro Bowl fan votes

He still leads all NFL receivers in Pro Bowl fan votes.

Last week, when the NFL released the first results of Pro Bowl fan votes. Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins not only was the No. 1 vote-getter among receivers, he also was No. 5 in the entire league.

Hopkins is still No. 1 in the NFC at his position and also the top vote-getter among all receivers in the NFL, he no longer is in the top five in total votes among all players.

He has received 177,256 votes.

The top five in the entire are Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (206,525 votes), Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (203,444), Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook (188,767), Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (185,494) and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (185,218).

Hopkins is third in the NFL with 77 receptions and fourth in receiving yards with 967.
