Rihanna rocked the Super Bowl halftime show with no guests, and fans loved it

No Jay-Z? No Drake? No problem. We got Rhianna.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl 57 halftime show was ridiculously awesome.

She started on platform high above the field — in a scene that sort of resembled a Super Smash Bros. map — rapping and singing along to “[Expletive] Better Have My Money” as she descended down into the stadium. For our money, the show was pretty great.

And when you have a performer like Rihanna — who took the stage live for the first time in seven years — who needs guest features?

Usually — like Dr. Dre last year — the Super Bowl halftime show performer comes along with a few guests.

But this year? Rihanna did it all on her own, save for a backup band and what seemed like a few hundred dancers.

There was no Drake, no Jay-Z, no Young Jeezy and no Kanye West on stage in Arizona, despite Rihanna performing songs that had those rappers featured in them on the original tracks.

And fans were just fine with that. Rihanna owned the stage and delivered.

A$AP Rocky looked so proud filming Rihanna’s incredible Super Bowl halftime show

Look how excited A$AP Rocky was for Rihanna!

Rapper A$AP Rocky went from musician to proud boyfriend during the Super Bowl 57 halftime show.

As pop icon Rihanna took the stage for a stupendous performance, A$AP Rocky looked on from the sidelines and cheered on his partner.

Hey, if your partner was performing in one of the biggest cultural moments of the year, you’d be pretty darn hyped, too. Good for A$AP Rocky for being so supportive during what’s certainly a huge night for the couple.

Now, if we could only get a shot of A$AP Rocky getting hyped for a new Rihanna album, we’d all really be thriving. We’ll just enjoy these Smash Bros. memes for now.

Super Bowl halftime show review: Rihanna shined bright during a delightful no-guest performance

Rihanna was effortlessly cool during the Apple Music Halftime Show.

Rihanna was effortlessly cool during the Apple Music Halftime Show during Super Bowl 57 on Sunday.

She was tasked with following the excellent show from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem last season, which was no easy assignment.

There was quite a bit of anticipation leading up to the show from Rihanna, who hasn’t released a studio album since Anti in January 2016. It was her first performance since she joined DJ Khaled on stage at the Grammy Awards in 2018.

But she didn’t look like she missed a beat at all on (and floating above) the biggest stage in sports. As fireworks exploded behind her, Rihanna was able to captivate an audience at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona and those watching the game around the world.

Not only did she do a wonderful job with her song choices, but she managed to even sneak in a plug for her popular fashion brand Fenty while also fixing her makeup on stage.

Rihanna didn’t bring out any guests, which was maybe the biggest surprise of the night. While rocking an all-red outfit, Rihanna had an excellent medley of hit after hit.

Whether it was with her original music or her strong resumé of features, this was also an impressive reminder of how much Rihanna has accomplished in her musical career.

This might not go down as an all-time memorable halftime show and we likely didn’t get any particularly timeless memes that will be shared on our Twitter timelines.

But overall, it was a great break between the halves of an exciting game between the Chiefs and the Eagles.

The Farmer’s Dog made everyone cry with its Super Bowl commercial

And, now we’re all in tears.

Super Bowl commercials are part of the draw every year as both football fans and casual observers gather to watch what new spots will drop between the action on the gridiron. Sometimes the ads are funny or feature your favorite actor or are just about beer.

And sometimes they’re the kind of sad that will leave you sobbing on your sofa.

The Farmer’s Dog did that to viewers on Sunday evening with its commercial that shows the journey and companionship between a dog and their owner. We see a sweet little girl getting an adorable lab puppy, and that puppy growing into a dog as she hits major life milestones like getting married and having a family.

As the owner lays in bed with her husband and baby, she stroked the head of the lab as we see its perfectly grayed muzzle. The dulcet tones of “Forever” by Lee Fields play in the background as he croons, “I’ll be there.”

As a dog owner that also recently got a puppy, this wrecked me. The internet was also brought to tears.

Ben Affleck’s Dunkin’ Donuts Super Bowl commercial inspired some hilarious jokes

Ben Affleck looked SO HAPPY.

Three things in life are constant: death, taxes and Ben Affleck jokes.

After Affleck looked absolutely miserable during last week’s Grammys ceremony, the Oscar-winning actor/filmmaker looked positively delighted as he starred in a Super Bowl commercial for Dunkin’ Donuts.

In the advertisement, Affleck shows everyone his side hustle as a Dunkin’ drive-thru cashier, much to the surprise of the doughnut chain’s customers. Jennifer Lopez makes a cameo at the end of the ad, joining in on the shock of her husband’s other gig.

Affleck’s love for Dunkin’ has always inspired the internet, and this Super Bowl commercial already looks like it’s going to be a hit.

That Medford, Massachusetts Dunkin’ undoubtedly will get plenty of business in wake of Affleck’s advertisement.

It’s a big Super Bowl for Affleck, with his next directorial effort Air and his possibly final performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman in The Flash getting Super Bowl commercials, too.

However, the focus is on Affleck’s joy in working as a Dunkin’ employee. The internet came ready with jokes.

All the celebrities watching 2023 Super Bowl in person from Jay-Z to Paul Rudd

As expected, Super Bowl 57 is a star-studded affair.

The Super Bowl is the biggest American sporting event of the year, so naturally, the stars are always expected to emerge. This year is no different as the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona for Super Bowl 57 on Sunday.

Both the Eagles and the Chiefs boast large numbers of celebrity fans, ranging from Kansas City native Paul Rudd from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to Philly fanatics Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph from Abbott Elementary.

It’s not just fans of each team that showed up in Arizona, so let’s check out who made it to the “Big Game.”

Watch Sheryl Lee Ralph’s stunning Super Bowl performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing

Sheryl Lee Ralph is just incredible.

The pregame festivities for the Super Bowl are full of pageantry and fanfare, but you’ll sometimes get a performance like we got from Sheryl Lee Ralph on Sunday. The Abbott Elementary star belted an absolutely stunning rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” that left everyone in awe.

Ralph, who has had roles on Broadway over the course of her career, took to the small stage at midfield after the Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott won the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award (which earned him some enthusiastic boos from the Philadelphia Eagles fans in attendance).

Known as the Black national anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” was performed for the first time publicly 123 years ago. It’s the first time that Ralph has sung it, according to one of her tweets from Sunday morning.

If we had any doubts that this performance would be incredible, we should have just trusted her son, Etienne Maurice, who got a sneak peak of the rendition earlier in the day.

Much like her Abbott Elementary character Barbara Howard, Ralph is an enthusiastic and dedicated fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Now that her performance is done, she can go be a fan.

Who is Rihanna’s boyfriend?

In case you haven’t heard by now.

Rihanna is making her long-awaited return to a stage Sunday for the halftime show of Super Bowl 57.

She hasn’t had a public performance since the 2018 Grammys, so it’s a big deal. Part of the reason the Umbrella singer hasn’t hit a stage in so long is she recently became a mom.

So, naturally, that may lead you to wonder who her lucky boyfriend must be. Well, it’s none other than rapper ASAP Rocky, of the ASAP Mob collective.

Rihanna and Rocky started dating in 2020, and she gave birth to their baby boy last May.

Less than a year later, the Anti singer is back and ready to give her fans a show.
