Ohio State men’s golf in fifth place after third round of NCAA Championship

Looking to advance to match play and in great shape to do so. #GoBucks

The Ohio State men’s golf team posted another solid round at the NCAA Championship Saturday, shooting a 1-over 289 to move into fifth place with just one round to go at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

All the Buckeyes have to do when they tee off on Monday is to remain in the top eight teams in order to advance to the match play format that will determine the team championship. OSU is sitting in pretty good shape with an eight stroke advantage over both Arizona and Georgia Tech.

Ohio State was paced by Jackson Chandler who shot a 2-under par 70 in a week in which all five players have had their moments in playing great team golf.

OSU is eleven shots behind leader Illinois (-2), and just three strokes behind fourth place Florida State. It’ll look to solidify its spot in the final eight when it tees off with Florida State and North Carolina for Monday’s final round at 2:25 p.m. ET. Golf Channel will have coverage of the final round from 6-10 p.m. ET.

Ohio State golfer Adam Wallin holds lead at NCAA Championship

One more round to go! #GoBucks

Through three rounds of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, Ohio State golfer, Adam Wallin, holds the top spot after firing a 3-under par 69 Sunday.

Wallin notched five birdies and just three bogeys during his round to grab the lead at 5-under par for the tournament, two strokes ahead of Virginia’s Ben James and Stanford’s Karl Vilips.

“I had a really solid day,” said Wallin. “I don’t know exactly how many greens I hit, I think like 16 or something, which was really solid. I never made any mistakes, just strung together a good round of golf.”

As a team, the Buckeyes are in fifth place. The top eight teams following Monday’s final round move on to a match play format to determine a team champion. The Buckeyes are in pretty good shape, eight shots ahead of Arizona and Georgia Tech in ninth place.

It’s been quite some time since an OSU golfer has taken the NCAA crown. Clark Burroughs did it in 1985, and he is one of five OSU individual champions, including Jack Nicklaus in 1961.

Wallin, along with his Ohio State teammates, will be paired with Florida State and North Carolina for Monday’s final round and will start off the first tee at 2:25 p.m. ET. Golf Channel will have coverage of the final round from 6-10 p.m. ET.

Ohio State assistant James Laurinaitis ready to battle players in EA Sports College Football 25

Would you put money on him? #GoBucks

It’s been more than a few years since we’ve all been able to play a college football video game, but that’s nearing an end very soon on a game console and high definition television of your choice near you soon.

That’s because EA Sports is ready to bring all the fun back with College Football 25 in mid-July and seemingly everyone is excited about it. In fact, you can count former All-American linebacker and current Ohio State assistant, James Laurinaitis, in that camp as well. He’s ready to show some of the current OSU players what it takes to dominate virtually.

While discussing the upcoming season recently on the local ESPN affiliate in Columbus, 97.1 “The Fan,” the conversation turned to College Football 25 and Laurinaitis wasn’t shy about his video gaming skills and how he used to dominate during his playing days and his willingness to do the same when the chance arises in the near future.

“I’m sure they have (a PlayStation5) in the Woody,” Laurinaitis said the “Bishop and Friends” radio show. “We’ll get the game there. And then I’ll have to teach these young kids a lesson.”

There has already been a bit of an unusual vibe coming from the official trailer of the game, seemingly trolling Ohio State with Kyle McCord in a Syracuse jersey, a stiff-armed broken tackle by Michigan running back Donovan Edwards on OSU safety Lathan Ransom, and even Illinois hoisting the “Illibuck Trophy” despite not winning the game against the Buckeyes since 2007.

“I did mention something to Lathan. I’ll just say that,” Laurinaitis said. “I just said ‘Wow, man. Wow.’

Laurinaitis said he did have a little rivalry with former Buckeye linebacker and current Notre Dame head coach, Marcus Freeman, often getting the best of him and leaving him a bit salty while playing previous versions of the college football EA Sports game.

“Marcus used to get upset that my speed was better than his,” Laurinaitis said. “I was like, ‘Don’t blame me. Blame the nerd who made it.’ ” The Little Animal went on to say that he used “to destroy” Freeman when they played.

As far as current Buckeyes, Laurinaitis looks forward to showing the young kids how it’s done, even if he has lost sight of the NFL Madden franchise still played today.

“Guys like C.J. Hicks brag about their Madden skills,” Laurinaitis said. “I’m like, ‘Look dude, I don’t have time for Madden anymore. What are we talking about?’ But when it comes to NCAA, yeah, that might be (what I should do).”

As a reminder, EA Sports College Football 25 is set for release on July 19. It will be available on the Playstation 5 and XBox Series X\S.

Doug Lesmerises discusses Ohio State football expectations with Big Ten Network

Is it national title or bust for Ohio State in 2024? #GoBucks

Almost everyone with a Scarlet and Gray wardrobe is excited about the prospects of what this fall’s Ohio State football team. With the bushel of NFL-eligible players coming back, the transfer portal additions, and coaching changes, the Buckeyes are on the extremely short-list of college football teams that are favored to win the national title.

But is that fair? Is it really “national title or bust” for the 2024 Ohio State football team? It sure feels like it to fans, but what do those in the media think?

It’s a good thing you asked because the Big Ten Network’s Dave Revsine sat down with “Kings of the North” podcast host, Doug Lesmerises, to discuss that very topic and you might be surprised what he had to tell Revsine. We won’t spoil it for you, but you can watch the entire segment below to hear the two banter back and forth about three-straight Michigan losses, the returning talent, and the expectations that come with everything coming into this season below.

What do you think? Can Ohio State’s season be successful if it doesn’t hoist Big Ten and national championship trophy in 2024?

Ohio State football makes top six for Florida 2025 defensive tackle Myron Charles

The Buckeyes are fighting for the defensive tackle’s commitment. #GoBucks

Although Ohio State football has 2025 commitments from two elite defensive ends, Zahir Mathis and London Merritt, it is still looking for a verbal in the middle.

One potential option is Florida’s, [autotag]Myron Charles[/autotag], who narrowed down his list of schools to six: Florida, Texas, Miami, Georgia, Florida State and the Buckeyes. At 6-foot, 5-inches and 285-pounds, he is a perfect fit to be the interior anchor of a defensive line.

Charles is ranked as the nations No. 123 overall prospect and 13th defensive lineman according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He currently has set official visits to all of his home state finalists, but has yet to do so for anyone else.

It will be hard to pull Charles away from the state of Florida, but Ohio State is trying to make it happen.

WATCH: Justin Fields shows off eye-hand coordination with Steelers

What are the chances of Fields elbowing his way into some meaningful snaps in Pittsburgh? #GoBucks

By now, you know that the Justin Fields experiment in Chicago is over. The Bears traded the former Ohio State star quarterback to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and by the sounds of it, he’ll have to work his way back to a starter behind NFL veteran QB Russell Wilson.

However, by the looks of it, Fields is showing signs of life and again oozing the potential that showed flashes of him being one of the most athletic and dynamic playmakers under center. It’s going to be an uphill climb to get meaningful snaps in the “Steel City,” but you just never know.

Watch as Fields goes through a drill during Steelers’ organized team activities (OTAs), showing off his concentration and eye-hand coordination.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on how Fields is doing in Pittsburgh and bring you any interesting news.

LOOK: Marvin Harrison Jr. at Cardinals rookie camp

Check out Marv at Cardinals rookie camp. #GoBucks

Because of all the decisions to return for draft-eligible Ohio State football players, there weren’t too many Buckeyes that hear their names called at the 2024 NFL draft.

However, one of those names included the top receiver taken and one of the most coveted drafts of the entire draft, receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. He was taken No. 4 by the Arizona Cardinals and has actually already inked his rookie contract.

Harrison has been seen taking part in rookie training camp in his new uniform and we thought you’d like to see the former Biletnikoff winner going through some of the paces out in the desert.

Here are some of the best photos of Harrison at Cardinals rookie training camp for your viewing and scrolling pleasure.

Ohio State football drops trailer counting down 100 days until start of season

The season is closer than you think. #GoBucks

It’s been a long offseason, but one filled with a lot of very positive developments for the Ohio State football team. A bushel of NFL draft eligible players decided to come back, the Buckeyes nabbed some top-end talent in the transfer portal, and welcomed in a consensus top-five recruiting class.

Still, it’s been quite a while since a real, live football game took place in the ‘Shoe (sorry spring game), and we’re all getting a little restless with the anticipation of what this team could be in 2024.

And while there’s still a little less than 100 days to go, the Ohio State football creative team decided to push out some content to let you know that the season is nearing. If you haven’t seen it, get a look at the video that flashes between an empty stadium and some of the heart-pumping moments from last season.

We’ll continue to have content throughout the summer and preseason camp, so continue to check back often to see what’s going on with the Ohio State football program during the so-called quiet time.

Former Ohio State offensive lineman Billy Price announces retirement

Well wishes to Price! #GoBucks

Former Ohio State offensive lineman, Billy Price, announced his retirement this weekend after a six-year NFL career. The announcement was paired with news that he is recovering from a pulmonary embolism he experienced in April and that the risk is simply too great to continue on with the game that he loves.

The breaking news was posted on his Instagram account Saturday morning:

“In the blink of an eye, everything can be taken away. On April 24th I had emergency pulmonary embolism surgery to remove a saddle clot that was entering both of my lungs. As a healthy 29 year old, an unprovoked pulmonary embolism with no further medical explanation is terrifying. I am truly thankful to be alive today. Unfortunately, I will be retiring from the NFL as the risk of an internal bleed while on blood thinners creates tremendous risk.

“I am truly thankful for the opportunity to have played in some of the greatest atmospheres around the world. I am thankful to have trained and played alongside men who will continue to make Pro Bowls, All Pro Rosters and Hall of Fame recognitions.

“To my wife: this career would not have been possible without your continued love and support. The sacrifices you have made over the course of my career do not go unnoticed. I cannot wait to navigate the next chapter in life with you as we continue to grow our family.”

In addition to being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2018 NFL draft and spending three seasons there, Price also had stints with the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas Cowboys.

Before that, he was a part of the 2014 Ohio State national championship team. We obviously wish the best for Price and whatever comes next for him, including good health.
