ESPN has multiple thoughts on Notre Dame vs. Ohio State’s marquee matchup

What do you think of the matchup?

When Ohio State travels to South Bend to take on [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag], it will be one of the most anticipated games of the college football season.

Two top-tier programs with [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag] implications hanging in the balance. The Buckeyes won the first game of the home-home series last seasons, 21-10.

Both teams will have new starters at quarterback, the most important position on the field. Unlike last season, both squads will have a few games under their belts to iron out some issues, instead of trying to fix problem on the fly in an opener.

ESPN took a look at some of the biggest storylines during September and obviously the battle with the Irish and Buckeyes made the list. There were also some other parts of the game that they touched on. Find out below what ESPN thinks about Notre Dame hosting Ohio State and my take on their assessment.

Watch: Notre Dame lacrosse star Pat Kavanagh joins the Pat McAfee Show

Quite the last few days for Pat

Former NFL punter [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag] was already a big deal in the media, especially since signing a big contract with ESPN, but he was a bigger deal to [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] lacrosse today.

McAfee has a massive platform and for him to invite Irish star lacrosse player [autotag]Pat Kavanagh[/autotag] onto the show is a big deal. The Notre Dame National Champion joined the Pat McAfee Show today to discuss his feelings towards bringing home the hardware to South Bend.

Take a look below at McAfee’s introduction of Kavanagh and the first few questions asked during the interview. You can also watch the full interview here. (Warning: there is some explicit language so please be careful).

Notre Dame baseball has multiple players enter the transfer portal

The Irish see more than a few players enter the portal

After a disappointing 2023 [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] baseball season, the Irish are seeing multiple players enter the transfer portal as the NCAA Tournament is set to start later in the week.

After two consecutive seasons making the tournament, last year making the College World Series, head coach Link Jarrett left for his alma mater, Florida State. [autotag]Shawn Stiffler[/autotag] was brought in to replace Jarrett and guided his team to a 30-24 overall record while being 15-15 in ACC play.

It wasn’t enough to make the tourney and just today, multiple players have entered the transfer portal. Find out below which Notre Dame baseball players will move on.

Report: Tennessee cornerback commit will official visit Notre Dame

Is a flip in the works?

It’s not quiet flipping season but [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] is getting their spatula warm.

The Irish have one of the best 2024 recruiting classes but they are looking for more top-end talent. One of those players they are working on is Tennessee cornerback commit [autotag]Kaleb Beasley[/autotag].

The 6-foot and 180 pound defender committed to the Vols this past October but that hasn’t stopped schools from recruiting him. Beasley just took an unofficial visit to South Bend but according to this report by Mike Singer of On3, an official visit will take place on the weekend of September 22nd.

Not only will Notre Dame be hosting Ohio State, Beasley will be in town also in what is turning into a massive recruiting weekend. The expectation is that many of the Irish’s top commitments will be in South Bend as well, so the Tennessee commit will get the full-court press.

Beasley is the 14th best cornerback and 150th overall player in the 2024 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite.

Notre Dame offers 2025 Connecticut defensive back

The Irish offer another long member of the secondary

[autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] football is continuing their trend of looking for long, athletic defensive backs to roam their secondary.

They have found yet another one in Connecticut’s [autotag]Ethan Long[/autotag]. The 2025 prospect stands 6-foot, 2-inches and weighs 190 pounds, currently doesn’t hold a ranking on 247Sports composite.

What he does hold now is an offer from Notre Dame, as the Irish joined the group that has offered Long a scholarship. He took a visit to South Bend in April and although he didn’t land an offer then, it finally has come.

Long’s recruitment has really started to pick up steam in the last week, grabbing offers from Maryland, Michigan State and Michigan.

Ohio 2025 offensive tackle trying to earn a Notre Dame offer

Go and earn it big fella!

There is a lot to be said about prospects who don’t take anything for granted and go out and earn an offer. That’s exaclty what Ohio 2025 offensive tackle [autotag]Parker Harden[/autotag] is trying to do with [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag].

The 6-foot, 5-inch and 295 pound tackle has a few current offers, but he wants more. Specifically, Parker wants an offer from Notre Dame.

Parker will get his summer camp tour started later this week, his first stop being South Bend. He will continue his Midwest stops at three of the top football schools in the Big Ten. It’s very clear what his objective is, earn a scholarship from each of these schools.

At the current moment Parker is not ranked in the 247Sports composite but after a big summer, that could very well change.

Watch: Notre Dame’s Jaden Mickey gives back to California community

Jaden is making the Irish proud

For many [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] athletes, it’s not just about what you can accomplish on the field, it’s off the field as well.

Second-year cornerback [autotag]Jaden Mickey[/autotag] does exactly that. He’s coming off a season where he was able to earn his way onto the field, registering 9 tackles, with expectations growing about his on-field success especially after an interception during the Blue and Gold game.

Off the field Mickey is all about giving back to his community, especially home in Eastvale, California. Over the summer, Mickey has hosted a youth football camp at his high school and even wrote a book titled: The Win Isn’t Always On the Scoreboard.

Mickey giving back to the community caught the eyes of Good Day LA and they did a feature on him giving back to the community. Take a look below at the clip about his off the field community work.

Notre Dame basketball trending for transfer forward

The Irish could be adding another hoops transfer soon

It wasn’t a surprise when [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] basketball hired [autotag]Micah Schrewsberry[/autotag] that he would need to work the transfer portal to field a solid team in the fall.

So far the plan has worked well, with [autotag]Kebba Njie[/autotag] and [autotag]Julian Roper[/autotag] as verbals from the portal. There could very well be another name added with those two, forward Tae Davis.

The Seton Hall transfer is schedule to be on campus today and tomorrow, and Schrewsberry could get a verbal from Davis before he leaves campus. According to this report by 247Sports Tom Loy, he believes that the 6-foot, 9-inch and 200 pound forward will eventually commit to the Irish.

During his freshman year, Davis averaged 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in just over 13 minutes played. He would have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Notre Dame lands former 4-star transfer running back

The Irish fill a need and add depth

[autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] took a big hit when Logan Diggs opted to enter the transfer portal and leave South Bend.

The Irish lost one of their biggest contributors from last year as Diggs averaged 5 yards per carry, scored 6 times and ran for over 800 yards. To many, including head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag], the need to add more depth to the running back room seemed to rise.

Enter former 4-star running back [autotag]Devyn Ford[/autotag], the Virginia native who played his first four seasons at Penn State, but has two remaining years of eligibility. Multiple injuries slowed down his career as he moved on from the program during last season.

The Irish had a need and Ford wanted a new start. The match was made Friday evening, as Ford committed to Notre Dame.

Ford brings experience to the position and if he can stay healthy, could be an important contributor over these next two seasons.
