The NFL Draft is in 64 days and Tyler Forness has his third mock draft of the cycle with the Minnesota Vikings trading up for their QB
The NFL draft is 64 days away and things are starting to heat up, especially with the Minnesota Vikings. It’s fascinating to watch how some things will change and others will stay the same. Stocks will shift throughout the process due to information coming out about players and opinions will shift with analysts getting eyes on a player for the first time.
These mock drafts won’t be accurate come April but they aren’t necessarily designed to be. Mock drafts are designed to be informative based on the current information at the time. It’s also good to take a look at how things change through the process to see why the opinions shifted.
This mock draft is my third of the cycle and the first time that I’ve done trades. Outside of quarterback, it’s hard to predict trades right now, as there will be more than two, both of those into the top five for their quarterback of the future.
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has the Vikings take a key piece on defense in his latest mock draft.
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah gave us his Mock Draft 2.0 just before the start of the NFL Scouting Combine next week. Due to it still being in the beginning stages of the pre-draft process, this is a no-trade mock draft.
I wouldn’t rule out the Vikings drafting a quarterback early, but I’m not sure they’ll have the ammunition to trade up for one. With Danielle Hunter heading for free agency, they address the need for pass-rush help.
Turner is a popular pick for the Vikings in experts’ mock drafts, especially if they stay the course at 11 instead of trying to trade up for one of the top quarterbacks in this draft.
The edge rusher position is a huge question mark for the Vikings, with Hunter and Wonnum potentially having a sizeable market if they test out free agency.
After seven weeks and 175 mock drafts, Saivion Mixson breaks down the potential fit for these NFL draft prospects and the Minnesota Vikings
With the first Sunday without football gone, there are only 28 more Sundays to go before the start of the regular season. That 28 becomes a dauntingly high number the more you look at it, so to help mitigate that, we are only one Sunday away from the NFL Scouting Combine, a showcase of over 320+ draft prospects as they look to hear their name called in the 2024 NFL Draft from April 25th-27th (9 Sundays away for those counting).
As we barrel forward into the off-season, there has been an abundance of draft pundits and analysts, ourselves over at Vikings Wire included, that have tried to fit the perfect player with their respective teams. In Tyler Forness’ recent mock draft roundup, he finds the results for the Minnesota Vikings and their projected prospect in 175 mock drafts up to this point, leading to some entertaining results.
Over these 175 data points, 19 players have projected to become Vikings at six unique positions, bringing a different skill set to the purple and gold with each selection. With this, I break down the results and make sense of the limitless possibilities for Minnesota and their 11th pick in this year’s draft.
Please see the evolution of these mock draft roundups below:
The Minnesota Vikings have been sent 19 different players across 175 mock drafts since January 1st. Last week, it was 10 players across 42.
Mock draft season is upon us and that means our mock draft roundup is back!
What we do every week is track the mainstream outlets mock drafts and aggregate how many times a player gets selected. Last season, we tallied up 545 mock drafts and that included a whopping 54 different players. With the Minnesota Vikings set to pick 11th overall, there will be a lot of discussions surrounding the quarterbacks in this draft along with trading up.
We will track them and try to determine trends and patterns, along with giving my own analysis on how they could fit with the Vikings.
In this mock draft from Andrew Harbaugh, the Lions trade up to get their guy
We are just 66 days away from the 2024 NFL Draft and Lions fans for once will have a long wait for their first pick.
As of right now, they are set to be the 29th overall pick in the draft. Even picking that late, this draft is set up for them to get someone very talented. It is a very deep draft class at various positions that are needed for the Lions. They could get a starter despite picking that late in the round, whether it is the interior offensive line, defensive back, or defensive line.
With there being so many Mondays between now and the NFL draft, it’s important to run through different outcomes the Lions could have. In this one, the situation being run is the Lions getting aggressive in the draft and trading up for a player they want.
This team was just in the NFC Championship, they are close, one player could make all the difference.
What would a Minnesota Vikings 2024 NFL mock draft look like if they wanted to win next year? Tyler Forness takes an in-depth look.
The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of different ways they can go in the NFL draft. There will be some discussion on what needs are most important but the Vikings can address most of them through both free agency and the NFL draft.
Each week throughout the leadup to the NFL draft, I will be doing different seven-round mock drafts for the Vikings as a way to explore different scenarios. You never know who might fall to you and how that could cause a ripple effect and being ready for those situations is paramount come draft weekend.
In the second rendition of our seven-round mock draft series, what could a draft look like that has the Vikings drafted to win in 2024?
Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy’s two-round NFL mock draft addresses both offensive and defensive questions for the Minnesota Vikings
With the conclusion of the Super Bowl, all 32 NFL teams have shifted their focus to the off-season and, more importantly, the 2024 NFL Draft. Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy took this opportunity to drop his two-round mock draft, filled with new faces for football fans to get excited about.
This could be a spot where the Vikings shock everyone and take a quarterback but instead we go with something a little safer in Iowa do-it-all defensive back Cooper DeJean.
DeJean would be a seamless fit in Brian Flores’ defense. Flores used players throughout the secondary (Harrison Smith, Byron Murphy, Mekhi Blackmon, Josh Metellus, etc.) in various spots all around the field. DeJean’s athleticism gives him the ability to be yet another chess piece for Flores to use to confuse opposing quarterbacks.
Speaking of quarterbacks, Popejoy sees an opportunity to take a shot at the future franchise quarterback in the second round and doesn’t let it pass. With the 42nd pick, Minnesota takes Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
At 42, no matter if Kirk Cousins returns, the value of a possible franchise quarterback is too much to ignore at the top of the second round. Washington made it to the National Championship game this year, mostly behind their explosive offense led by Penix. While there are some injury concerns (two ACL injuries and two dislocated shoulders), if he becomes a Viking, he would have a great chance to thrive under Kevin O’Connell and the weapons in this offense.
Could another Michigan wide receiver come to Cleveland?
To improve their wide receiver room, PFF has given them Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson in a new 2024 NFL draft mock exercise.
Outside of Amari Cooper and glimpses from Elijah Moore, the Browns do not have any proven reason for hope for the rest of the room entering the 2024 season. While they could take the free agency route, adding a young and inexpensive player in the draft (likely both) would give them massive cap relief if they can hit on the pick.
Misused as a gadget and slot player at Michigan, Wilson’s tape is much more impressive than his production might insist. This shined through as he put together a dominant week at the Reese’s Senior Bowl. He racked up 789 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Wolverines this year.
The Browns have had pretty solid success drafting wide receivers from Michigan in the past. While his tenure with the Browns ended tumultuously, Braylon Edwards did make a Pro Bowl in Cleveland. The Browns also squeezed every ounce of production they could get out of a sixth round pick in Donovan Peoples-Jones as well.
Could Wilson be the next Wolverine wide receiver to come to Cleveland?
The Browns get Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah a new running mate while also addressing the wide receiver position here!
Will the Cleveland Browns finally take a linebacker like Junior Colson early in the 2024 NFL draft? Could a name like Malachi Corley help round out their ailing wide receiver room with a talented rookie?
Now that the season has officially come to a close, we turn fully to the offseason with free agency and the 2024 NFL draft next up for the Browns. For the 11-6 Browns, who will look to keep their competitive window open, this means finding ways to improve their wide receiver room, while sprinkling in pieces elsewhere on their roster.
This is their last year without a first round pick, sitting with a second, a third, two fifths, two sixth, and a seventh round pick. This is plenty of ammunition to make some noise, as general Andrew Berry has been able to land talents like Martin Emerson Jr., Alex Wright, Dawand Jones, and more with just middle-round picks.
What can they scratch and claw together here in this seven-round mock draft?
Vikings Wire staff writer Saivion Mixson gives his post-Super Bowl mock draft for the 2024 NFL Draft
Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs for solidifying their dynasty in the minds of NFL fans everywhere.
With the Super Bowl come and gone, it is time for football fans’ favorite season: Draft season. The mock drafts will be coming in fast and furious, but here at Vikings Wire, we have already been diligently working through our mock drafts.
