WATCH: Panthers DE Brian Burns finally sacks Buccaneers QB Tom Brady

Panthers DE Brian Burns has been waiting to sack Bucs QB Tom Brady. The wait is over.

Amidst numerous reports of abundant outside interest, Brian Burns showed why other teams are calling up the Carolina Panthers for him. Oh, and he also accomplished a longstanding goal of his in the process.

With just under five minutes remaining in the first half of Sunday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 24-year-old defensive end finally got to quarterback Tom Brady for the first time in his NFL career. Burns picked up the sack, his fifth of the campaign, on a second-and-10—pushing Brady and his bunch back for a 14-yard loss.

Last summer, Burns appeared on the Behind The Mask Podcast of the Bleav Podcast Network—where he told hosts Takeo Spikes and Tutan Reyes he’d “go crazy” when he finally takes down the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

“And that was my goal coming into that year, knowing that he was gonna be in Tampa Bay. I was gonna play him twice a year, I got double the chance to get him,” he said with a sigh. “Whatever. I got this year.”

Well, he didn’t get him in 2021, but he certainly did today . . .

WATCH: Kevin White gains 64 yards vs. Cardinals, sets up Taysom Hill TD

WATCH: Kevin White – yes, THAT Kevin White — gains 64 yards vs. Cardinals to set up a Taysom Hill TD catch

Now that’s impressive. Kevin White was called up from the New Orleans Saints practice squad again this week to help out on special teams, but the coaching staff saw something in practice that gave them a nice idea — why not use his long speed on a catch-and-run crossing route?

That worked out tremendously, with White catching the pass right around the first down marker and taking off for 64 yards. He shook a couple of tackles, carefully sprinted down the sideline, and got the offense into scoring position. Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury challenged the spot to see if White stepped out of bounds early in the play, but replay showed he stayed in, and the play stood as called.

Honestly, good for him. White has hung around with the Saints for his rare blend of size and speed, and even though he’s been far from consistent he’s still worth holding onto because of opportunities like this. Last year he led the team in yards per catch (38). This 64-yard pickup is the longest play from scrimmage for New Orleans this year. There’s a time and place for everything, and in football, that extends to everyone. Even White, the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft who never quite met expectations with the Chicago Bears. Now he’s making plays for the Saints. Good for him.

So what happened next? The Saints finally got creative in the red zone again and called a screen pass to Taysom Hill (who else?), who barreled into the end zone to score his first touchdown reception this season. It was the seventh score for Hill in six games, going to show just how important he is to their offense.

WATCH: Rashid Shaheed catches his 2nd career pass, scores his 2nd career TD

WATCH: Rashid Shaheed catches his 2nd career pass, scores his 2nd career TD

Now that’s what you love to see. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed had a large crowd of family and friends make the drive from their San Diego hometown to see him suit up in his second career NFL game. They had high hopes after his 44-yard touchdown run on a jet sweep a week ago.

And they weren’t disappointed, with Shaheed catching a 53-yard touchdown pass from Andy Dalton on the opening drive to give his team an early lead over the Arizona Cardinals. He’s now scored a touchdown on both of his first two touches in the NFL, once as a runner and once as a receiver. The undrafted rookie receiver out of Weber State can scoot, and the team is smartly taking advantage of that speed. NFL Next Gen Stats live tracking found he reached a top speed of 21.13 miles per hour on the scoring play against Arizona, the second-highest speed of any Saints player this season (Chris Olave hit 21.17 on a play back in Week 2).

Time will tell if he can keep it up, but he just might be the next big thing in New Orleans. Let’s see if the Saints can continue to find ways to get the ball in his hands.

Week 6 was one to forget for Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans, as their team dropped a 28-10 shocker to the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road Sunday.

The Bucs’ offense struggled all game long, and the defense gave up tons of third-and-long conversions, despite facing lackluster quarterbacks and a secondary decimated by injuries.

If you can stomach it, feel free to watch the video above and relive some of the top plays from Sunday’s crushing defeat.

WATCH: Panthers CB Donte Jackson gets pick-6 off Rams QB Matthew Stafford

Panthers CB Donte Jackson, No. 26, chalked up his first career pick-six in Week 6.

There’s a bit of a different feel for the Carolina Panthers in their first game under interim head coach Steve Wilks. Just ask Donte Jackson.

With just over two minutes remaining in the second quarter of Sunday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, the fifth-year cornerback picked off quarterback Matthew Stafford. He then took the ball, one intended for receiver Cooper Kupp, all the way back to the end zone for a 30-yard run.

Jackson’s score, the first touchdown for Carolina on the afternoon, helped give the Panthers a 10-7 lead—one they’d jog into the break with.

The big play was an instant piece of redemption for Jackson. On the previous Rams drive, he was beat on a jump ball for six by wideout Allen Robinson—a 5-yard strike that capped off a 13-play, 73-yard scoring drive for Los Angeles.

This was the first interception of the 2022 season (and the first pro touchdown) for Jackson, who now has 13 career picks.

WATCH: Leonard Fournette trucks multiple defenders on TD catch

Watch Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette truck through the Pittsburgh Steelers defense on his way to the end zone

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have finally found the end zone against the Pittsburgh Steelers, courtesy of Tom Brady and Leonard Fournette.

After converting multiple fourth-down situations on the drive, Brady threw a quick pass to Fournette, who trucked through multiple Steelers defenders on his way to the end zone.

A failed two-point conversion means the Bucs are still trailing, but at least the offense is finally showing signs of life.

WATCH: Saints rookie Rashid Shaheed scores 44-yard TD run on a jet sweep

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”xWByWcScrt-2303475-7498″]

Welcome to the NFL, Rashid Shaheed. The former Weber State wide receiver caught the New Orleans Saints’ attention on kick returns at the college level, but they put some of those skills to good use in Sunday’s game with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Saints dialed up a jet sweep for Shaheed flowing to the right side, and all it took was a missed tackle by Eli Apple for him to fly 44 yards downfield for a score; NFL Next Gen Stats tracking found that Shaheed hit 19.5 miles per hour on the carry.

It’s wildly impressive to see out of the undrafted rookie. Shaheed missed most of the summer recovering from an ACL injury, and this was his first touch in the game (he previously beat Apple on a vertical route, breaking to the inside, but quarterback Andy Dalton threw outside for an incomplete pass). Hopefully he can generate more big plays like this with so many injuries piling up at the position for New Orleans.

WATCH: Antoine Winfield Jr. drops Kenny Pickett for huge 3rd-down sack

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got a clutch play from Pro Bowl safety Antoine Winfield Jr.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to a slow start against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but perhaps a big play from their defense can give them a spark.

On third down late in the first quarter, Antoine Winfield Jr. finished off a sack of Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett, forcing a punt from deep in Pittsburgh’s own territory.

Tampa Bay’s defense needs to keep making these kinds of splash plays against a young, struggling offense.

Saints force a special teams turnover, Tre’Quan Smith catches a TD early vs. Bengals

Saints force a special teams turnover, Tre’Quan Smith catches a touchdown pass early vs. Bengals:

It didn’t take the New Orleans Saints long to get moving against the Cincinnati Bengals. A Demario Davis sack on the Bengals’ opening drive led to their first possession, which also went three-and-out from New Orleans’ territory — but the Saints special teams unit created a turnover, with linebacker Andrew Dowell forcing a fumble on the return and tight end Adam Trautman recovering it.

That gave them fantastic starting field position, which Alvin Kamara improved with a 7-yard run on first down. Taysom Hill converted a first down on a quick pass to Marquez Callaway, and then Andy Dalton stepped up to throw a touchdown pass to Tre’Quan Smith from 18 yards out. It was about as impressive a sequence as you could hope for.

And it was a nice moment for Smith, who has now scored 18 touchdown receptions in his Saints career. He currently ranks at No. 16 in the franchise record books, trailing a three-way tie between Alvin Kamara, Devery Henderson, and Brandin Cooks (who have each caught 20 touchdown passes themselves). He’ll join them with two more scores, and three will get him up to No. 12, tying fan-favorite former Saints tight end Hoby Brenner.

Smith has caught a lot of flak over the years for his drops and inconsistent play, but one thing he’s always done often is score touchdown receptions. The Saints will need even more from him with wide receivers Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry, Chris Olave, and Deonte Harty missing this game due to injuries.

WATCH: Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. scores 1st career NFL TD

Less than two months after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, Brian Robinson Jr. scored his first NFL touchdown

Less than two months after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. scored his first NFL touchdown Thursday night.

Robinson, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of Alabama, made a swift recovery from his injuries, and returned to the team in Week 5. Thursday night, he found the end zone for the first time in his career, giving the Commanders the lead halfway through the fourth quarter.

What a moment for Robinson, and likely the first of many triumphant trips to the end zone.
