Mitchell wasn’t alone, as former Clemson star running back Will Shipley switched from the No. 39 to No. 28.

Eagles’ DE Josh Sweat switches jersey number ahead of 2024 regular season

Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher Josh Sweat is switching from jersey No. 94 to No. 19 ahead of the 2024 regular season

Josh Sweat is gearing up for what could be his final season in Philadelphia, and he’s looking for a fresh start by switching jersey numbers.

According to Zach Berman, via the Eagles official website, Sweat is switching to jersey No. 19, and second-year quarterback Tanner McKee will wear Quez Watkin’s old No. 16.

The Eagles’ pass rotation will be much improved after the addition of Bryce Huff, and Sweat will return in 2024 after agreeing to a restructured contract.

Sweat finished his sixth NFL season with 6.5 sacks (second-best on the Eagles) and 43 tackles in 17 regular-season games.

Sweat saw his role increase even more in the Eagles’ defensive end rotation last season, as his 71 percent snap share increased over his 56 percent mark from the 2022 season.

Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman may have had questions about extending Sweat after his sack totals dropped from the 11.0 he logged in 2022.

Sweat had 5.5 sacks through nine games but didn’t manage another until Week 18.

Sweat was entering a contract year with a base salary of just over $1 million and a cap hit of just over $9 million.  He was set to count over $21 million against the 2025 salary cap.

Sweat also had 19 QB hits through 10 games and just four in the last seven games.

Eagles can wear all-black uniforms in 2025 after NFL approves a third helmet design

The NFL informed teams today it has revised the uniform policy to allow clubs a third helmet design for alternate uniforms in 2025

The Eagles brought back the alternate Kelly green home uniforms in 2023 to great fanfare, but because of NFL rules, teams were allowed only two helmet colorways.

The Kelly green return meant the loss of the all-black alternates for one season, but that’ll change in 2025 after the NFL announced a new ruling that approves a third helmet for all 32 teams.

Prior to the start of the 2022 season, star wide receiver DeVonta Smith stated that the team had wanted to switch to a new helmet for some time now.

“It’s something the majority of us as players always wanted – just a little change in uniform.”

Philadelphia went 2-0 last season wearing their Kelly green uniforms, beating the Bills and Dolphins.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson to honor the late Kobe Bryant with Eagles jersey number

Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson is a huge Kobe Bryant fan and will wear the No. 8 jersey to honor the legend.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson is back like he never left, agreeing to a three-year deal to rejoin the Philadelphia Eagles.

During his introductory press conference, Gardner-Johnson told the media that he’s getting into “Kobe Mode” and will wear the No. 8.

The talented and versatile safety says he’s the “best” young safety in the league, and he’s already bringing back that swagger that was severely missing from the Eagles’ defense in 2023.

Eagles to wear all-black uniforms for critical Christmas Day matchup vs. Giants

The Philadelphia Eagles are switching things up and going with their all-black uniforms for the Christmas day matchup against the New York Giants

The Eagles have lost three games in a row, and with the team returning to Lincoln Financial Field in need of some mojo, the all-black alternates uniforms are being pulled out.

Philadelphia’s top-rated social media team broke the news that a switch-up was needed.

Philadelphia hasn’t gone with the All-Black since the Week 18 matchup last January, in which Jalen Hurts returned to the lineup and secured his team’s No. 1 overall seed.

In that game, Hurts returned from a sprained right shoulder and threw for 229 yards in a 22-16 win over the New York Giants.

Jake Elliott was the real hero on the night, converting field goals of 32, 52, and 39 yards in the first half. Boston Scott ran for an 8-yard touchdown — 10 of his 17 career TDs are against the Giants — and the Eagles took a 16-0 lead into halftime.

Eagles’ linebacker Shaquille Leonard switches jersey number ahead of debut vs. Cowboys

After practicing in the No. 50, Shaquille Leonard has switched to jersey number 53 after Christian Elliss was waived and claimed by the Patriots

The Eagles have a former All-Pro linebacker on the roster, adding the versatile Shaquille Leonard to the roster after he chose Philadelphia over Dallas.

Leonard is preparing to take the field for his third practice with the team, and he’s switched jersey number.

After initially being assigned the No. 50, Leonard is switching to No. 53 after Christian Elliss was waived.

Leonard will likely start opposite Zach Cunningham, and the duo should help alleviate the lack of communication witnessed in the Eagles’ 42-19 loss to the 49ers.
