Eagles overcome mental hurdle with 34-6 win vs. Cowboys, ending losing streak at AT&T Stadium

Eagles overcome a major mental hurdle with 34-6 win vs. Cowboys that ends losing streak at AT&T Stadium

The Eagles entered Sunday’s matchup against the Cowboys on a six-game losing streak at AT&T Stadium. Still, Nick Sirianni’s team blasted the lid off six years of disappointment and firmly established themselves as an NFC favorite.

Philadelphia overcame another slow start, and two early Jalen Hurts turnovers to dominate Dallas, 34-6 on the road, just days before a Thursday night showdown against Washington for first place in the NFC East.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was 14-20 passing for 202 yards (10.1 avg), two touchdowns, and one interception with a 115.0 rating. Hurts also rushed seven times for 56 yards, scoring two more rushing touchdowns and moving his career total to 52.

With Cooper Rush at quarterback, Dallas 3-14 on third downs, and Vic Fangio’s ever-improving unit held the Cowboys to 146 yards of offense, 2.6 yards per play, and 1.5 yards per pass.

A.J. Brown posted another 100-yard game, logging five catches for 109 yards (21.8 avg) and making massive catch after huge catch.   On defense, linebacker Zack Baun posted seven tackles and one tackle for loss. In comparison, C.J. Gardner-Johnson posted seven tackles, one pass defended, and helped create a huge Ezekiel Elliott fumble.

Darius Slay exits game vs. Cowboys with an ankle injury

Darius Slay is questionable to return to the Philadelphia Eagles Week 10 game against the Dallas Cowboys after suffering an ankle injury

The Eagles are up 7-3 on the Dallas Cowboys, and they could be forced to finish the Week 10 game without cornerback Darius Slay.

Philadelphia’s captain and veteran cornerback limped off with an ankle injury on the first series and is questionable to return.

With Slay out, Isaiah Rodgers is in at cornerback. He’ll play opposite Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the slot.

Slay missed practice last week due to a groin injury, which caused him to be sidelined for the Eagles’ Week 9 win over the Jaguars.

WATCH: LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame

Harrisburg native, and former Pitt Panthers running back LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame

In what can only be described as an electric and magical moment, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native and former Pitt Panthers star LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame and Ring of Honor at halftime of the team’s Week 9 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

McCoy is arguably the most excellent running back in Eagles franchise history, and he’s been honored as such.

Back in July, at halftime of the preseason finale, team owner Jeffrey Lurie announced that the former Pitt Panthers star and second-round pick would be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 3, 2024, when the Eagles host the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lincoln Financial Field.

The official announcement was made during a special halftime ceremony this past summer, part of the Eagles Legends Homecoming Game, during which many of the franchise’s greats returned to commemorate their time with the Eagles.

Philadelphia used a second-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft on McCoy, and he became the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing yards (6,792 yards). A three-time Pro Bowl back (2011, 2013-14) and two-time All-Pro (2011, 2013) with the Eagles, McCoy recorded the third-most rushing touchdowns in team history (44), and he still holds the franchise record for the most rushing yards in a single season (1,607 yards in 2013).

McCoy set the team’s single-game rushing record with 217 yards during the iconic “Snow Bowl” in 2013, which became the standout running back’s signature performance.

Isaiah Rodgers reps Darius Slay’s jersey ahead of Eagles game vs. Jaguars in Week 9

Isaiah Rodgers reps Darius Slay’s jersey before Eagles matchup vs. Jaguars in Week 9

Isaiah Rodgers will start his first game at cornerback for the Eagles in place of an injured Darius Slay.

Slay will miss Sunday’s game with a groin injury, and with the Birds being a tight-knit unit, Rodgers paid homage to the Pro Bowl cornerback.  The return specialist and cornerback wore a Kelly Green No. 2 jersey to Lincoln Financial Field in tribute to his injured teammate.

Rodgers broke up a deep pass to Ja’Marr Chase in the Week 8 win that was tipped into C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s hands for a crucial interception.

Latest injury update for Eagles DT Jalen Carter

Jalen Carter returned to practice on Thursday as a full participant after missing Wednesday’s practice with a shoulder injury and will start

The Eagles are just hours away from hosting the Jaguars at Lincoln Financial Field and star defensive tackle Jalen Carter will be in the lineup.

Carter returned to practice on Thursday as a full participant after missing Wednesday’s practice with a shoulder injury and then logged another full practice on Friday.

Philadelphia will face off against a Jacksonville offensive line that will have a new starter at left tackle in Walker Little after the trade that sent Cam Robinson to Minnesota. The team also has two players questionable: left guard Ezra Cleveland (ankle) didn’t practice this week, and right guard Brandon Scherff (knee) was limited.

After not practicing all week for Philadelphia, tight end Dallas Goedert and cornerback Darius Slay are out for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
