Why Seattle Seahawks Will Win

Detroit is missing some of its explosion.

Star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and RB D’Andre Swift are out, and that’s a problem for a team that needs all the points and offensive options it can possibly use.

The Detroit defense is having problems.

It’s the worst in the NFL in scoring D, it’s awful against the run, and the O needs to keep things moving against a Seattle offense that might not be explosive, but converts its third down tries.

Why Detroit Lions Will Win

The Seattle offense is awful.

Detroit might be struggling defensively, but it playing Philadelphia and Minnesota will skew the stats.

The D gets a bit of a break against a Seattle attack that’s not doing anything on the ground and works too hard to generate points off decent drives.

Missing some of the key offensive parts hurts, but Jamaal Williams has been a strong back when getting the chance, and Jared Goff is underappreciated at moving the work around.

What’s Going To Happen

Is it really possible that Detroit is just that deep offensively?

Again, the defense finally catches a bit of a break, and Goff should be okay against a Seattle defense that doesn’t generate enough pressure. This doesn’t have to be a shootout like past Lion games, and it’ll show in a low scoring fight.

Why Detroit Lions Will Win

The Lions got the running game going in the 38-35 loss to Philadelphia.

There were problems defensively, but D’Andrew Swift and Jamaal Williams were able to pound away. Jared Goff wasn’t bad, and it should all work against a Washington defensive front that got ripped up by Jacksonville.

The penalties have to slow down, but as long as the Lions can control the tempo and the clock, and if they can start getting into the backfield, they’ll have a shot.

The Detroit defense wasn’t close against Philadelphia, and Carson Wentz was solid for the Commanders.

He threw two picks and had too many misses, but he threw for over 300 yards, Antonio Gibson wasn’t bad when he got his chances, and the offense came through when it had to.

Don’t turn it over three times, control the clock for 33 minutes again, and D up against the run. Do all of that, and Washington wins, but …

What’s Going To Happen

It was way too much of a fight for the Commanders to get by Jacksonville.

Was it just the Week 1 timing problem, or was is there really a problem with the run defense? It seemed like it was a little of both.

It comes down to this – can Wentz limit the scary-bad plays?

There will be a few of them, Detroit will capitalize on all of them, and it won’t be enough. The Commanders will do more with the running game this week and the Detroit D will once again struggle to get enough key stops.

And then Wentz will throw a really, really bad pick to help the Lions pull this off.

Why Philadelphia Eagles Will Win

Here comes the Philadelphia passing game.

Jalen Hurts already had a good group to throw to, and then the Eagles landed AJ Brown to add to the mix. Now it all gets aired out against a Detroit secondary that struggled to get off the field, allowed the most yards per attempt, and doesn’t appear to be appreciably better.

Hurts should go off, the running game should be okay behind a terrific Eagle offensive line, and Detroit has to prove it can keep up the pace on a consistent basis.

Hurts proved time and again that he can get the O going late if things aren’t going well. Detroit did that a bit late last year, but it can’t get behind or Philly will grind it out.

Why Detroit Lions Will Win

Here comes the Detroit running game.

D’Andre Swift and the Lion backfield are good, the offensive line is great, and now the running game should pound away a bit more.

The defense might still be a question mark even with the improvements up front, but the offense has enough parts to be more efficient. Better running game, easier third down chances, better overall offensive production – that should kick in right away against an Eagle defense that’s talented, but …

What’s Going To Happen

The Eagles beefed up the front seven with Jordan Davis about to be a key part of the interior and with a seemingly improved linebacking corps.

Detroit will be more physical, and it’ll be better than it’s been over the last few years, but the secondary will let it down late once Hurts gets into a groove.
